  • These are perfect for fucking up your body

  • can i trust dextrose supplement? I don't want to purchase if it has fructose in it even though they claim 100% dextrose.. can I trust WoW dextrose powder?

  • Do you ship to NZ?

  • @YoungDumbIdeas Sorry we dont

  • Great Information. Do you ship to NZ?

  • If you have celiac or other digestive issues DO NOT USE maltodextrin or waixy maize. Dextrose is ideal for pre, during and post workout glycogen restore. Buck wheat, brown rice and amaranth flours cooked or ideal for complex carbs at least 2 hours pre and about 1-2 hours after depending on how much dextrose you used and how soon after workout. You don't want complex conflicts with sugars for the most part.

  • Whether or not you decide to post my comment, the study is "Significant intramyocellular lipid use during prolonged cycling in endurance-

trained males as assessed by three different methodologies" by Stellingwerff et al., 2007.

  • @StormZephyr this study you cite is done on cycling for 3 hours at 50%. Each gram of glycogen attracts three grams of water into the muscle cell (Chan et al. 1982). Also you should look into the ZMA studies - who paid for the main study? The study was funded by SNAC Systems Inc. (the patent holders) and one of the study's authors (Victor Conte) has equity in this company.

  • @ProfessionalWhey My mention of ZMA (which I know to be a zinc magnesium supplment- correct me if I'm wrong) was lazy and unexplained. What I mean is that magnesium supplementation is a good idea if you're going to be taking in a lot of carbs: Why? Because magnesium is required for glycolysis. Just saying.

  • @StormZephyr

So your saying without magnesium present at the time of consuming your carbs, glycolysis wont happen?

  • @ProfessionalWhey Not that it won't happen, but I believe that the magnesium incorporated into the glycolytic enzymes as a cofactor will be bound up and not available for other uses so long as the enzymes that require them remain. A precaution, if you will. I've read, but don't have studies offhand, of excessive sugar intake being linked to osteoporosis.

  • @StormZephyr Osteoporosis will occur if your consuming a crappy western processed diet ladened with sugar/ fructose corn syrup...and having detrose and maltodextrin on top.....however if you eat a very nutrient dense wholefood diet and have dextrose / maltodextrin PWO 3-4 times per week - this will not be a problem!

  • @ProfessionalWhey Yeah, I recently read that infamous NYT article about processed sugar. Needless to say, I've been avoiding it.

  • @ProfessionalWhey Also, I apologize: that was completely the wrong study. The study I had meant to post is "Coingestion of carbohydrate with protein does not further augment postexercise muscle protein synthesis" by Koopman et al., 2007.

  • @StormZephyr and what do you make of Koopmans study in 2005.

Koopman R, Wagenmakers AJ, Manders RJ, Zorenc AH, Senden JM, Gorselink M, Keizer HA, van Loon LJ. Combined ingestion of protein and free leucine with carbohydrate increases postexercise muscle protein synthesis in vivo in male subjects. Am J Physiol Endocrinol Metab 288: E645–E653, 2005

Borsheim E, Aarsland A, Wolfe RR. Effect of an amino acid, protein, and carbohydrate mixture on net muscle protein balance

    & there is plenty more

  • @ProfessionalWhey Interesting, thanks for that information. What I find strange is that van Loon, who worked with Koopman, had sent me the 2007 study first when I had posed this question to him.

I take glucose with my whey already, but more as a sweetener than anything. Perhaps from now on I will not feel as though I'm simply adding to my fat in doing so.

  • Not to rain on your parade, but there's at least one study out there showing that carbs don't do much in the way of aiding muscular development. (I have actually bought a ten-pound barrel of glucose myself, to read about it to my dismay a week after the barrel arrived).

That being said, glucose is a wonderful way to sweeten an otherwise bland shake if you're willing to take on some extra calories. Bring on the ZMA! You're gonna need it.

  • thanks for the video buddy, i was really confused about all this but you helped clear it all up, many thanks again

  • Creatine monohydrate + Dextrose + Koolaid Packets + Water = Perfect Muscle Building Combination!!!

  • Very informative video. People need to know this.

  • i work out usually first thing in the morning so i donthave time for a full breakfast. Is dextrose with some whey suitable as a preworkout shake ? and is it alright to continue taking some dextrose while working out n finally some more when im done working out or would this be too much

  • @aaronalwines This would be fine as long as you and your body respond well to it. Try it and see!!

  • 4-12 weeks out - No, 4 weeks out - Yes

  • If I take these while contest dieting will these prevent me from losing my body fat?

  • I weigh 70kg, I train 6 days a week 1h a day, intense work out to lean muscle mass. How much dextrose and maltodextrin should I take(in my post workout shake I take whey + malto +dextro)? I'm worried about fat gain.

  • @henrykazuo

No need to worry about fat gain if you have it immedietly after your intense workout.

70kg body needs 70g of malto/dextrose with whey post workout for your goals

  • @ProfessionalWhey Nice! Thanks for answering!!!

  • how much should you take before and after

  • @PureBrutalSickness It really depends on three things

1 how much do you weigh

2 what exercise you have just done and how long for

    3 what is your goal

  • @ProfessionalWhey ok.. i weigh 90kg i do weights, intense for 1hr and my goal is lean muscle mass but not like really big, how much should i take of dextrose only before and after my workout

  • @PureBrutalSickness 90g post workout - dont take any pre workout

  • Is it a bad idea to blend frozen spinach and blueberries with dextrose and whey for a PWO shake? I do this because of the anti-oxidant properties and I like the taste of it

  • @JPCWhutwhut Great Idea! I cant say I like the taste of Spinach in a shake though:)

  • @ProfessionalWhey Haha thanks! It's awesome to know that. I got weird taste buds, I absolutely love the taste of spinach and it makes my shake have a very creamy texture.

  • @JPCWhutwhut I may just give it a whirl one day....y never know!!

  • D-glucose is the same thing as dextrose.

Sucrose and Lactose are not totally non beneficial pwo as they do contain some glucose, however they are not high in glucose.

Pure fructose however is pretty bad in terms of glycogen uptake in the muscle cells as only the liver can store fructose as glycogen.

  • With Dextrose, does anything that says glucose in the ingredients mean dextrose?? Or could it be L-glucose which is actually not biologically active .. ?

Also will sucrose, fructose, lactose be totally non-beneficial pwo?? Could they even be harmful or have bad sideeffects??

  • what is the difference between dextrose and dextrose monohydrate?

and which is better to take pwo.

    thx.

  • There is no difference.
