  • holy crap, where its side mirror?

  • @audimanas hahahahaha only rear views standard

  • one of my fav cars of 1980s < with ford scorpio and mercedes w124 and volvo 760 and saab 9000

  • Inexplicably sold as the Audi 5000 in North America, this is the car that nearly led to Audi's demise in the North American market. Or rather, the bogus "unintended acceleration" argument against this car nearly did, in addition to their bad way of handling the situation. As usual, it was the fault of users.

A nice car in its day; I always wanted one.

Also a huge influence on the 1986 Ford Taurus that took North America by storm.

  • Did the 3rd generation 100, really come with that "Cd 0.30" sticker?

  • 1984 Mercedes E-Class cD 0.28 =P

  • the 1982-1991 Audi 100 was assembled in

    Neckarsulm, Germany

    Changchun, China

    Uitenhage, South Africa

    Tokyo, Japan

  • what's this called ?

The Wheels were better here on the 5000 model.

  • which is bullshit because citroen XM was better in aerodynamics

  • @karskot

The Audi 100 Worldrecord was 1982.

    Citroen ??

  • @karskot The Audi record was in 1982. Citroen launched the XM in 1989 and while the XM indeed had a better drag factor than the 100 (the XM's drag factor was of 0.28), the Opel Calibra, also launched in 1989, had a drag factor of 0.26.

  • @karskot citroen xm did not appear until 6 years after this

  • whats the song used? would be much appreciated to know

  • Anton 'Alec Calender' Rodgers doing the voiceover.

I've allways called it the Audi One-hundred myself and others I know call it the same. However it could also be called the Audi hundred.

The Drag factor of .30 is a bit dubious though. On the Audi test cars it was .30 but the production model was different. Look at the car in the ad, it was a test car as it had no N/S mirror and it had 155/165 profile tyres to cut down on drag. All this to beat the drag factor set by the Ford Sierra.

  • @dougisamug Welcome to the 1980's, when the passenger side exterior mirror was an optional extra even on expensive cars.

  • @JELH What year did passenger-side door mirrors become mandatory for road cars?

  • @FContreras85 1978

  • good car

  • they called it the 'hundred'?

  • @bajabusta Yes they called it an Audi hundred
