We all also know which boy the girl chooses in a reverse harem. We all also know the weak lead in shounens would slowly become stronger and defeat the bad villain. Most animes are predictable. Plot twists, character design, abilities, back ground story on skills, moe, fanservice, comedy, tragedy, romance, and rankings keep us watching. By rankings I mean, captains - espadas, satan's sons - paladin, hokage -akatsuki, keeping stronger people in the horizon, so we look for more development.

Needless to say, you thought they were the usual archetypes, then they actually have more depth. I've watched countless other animes that have only the lead male and female developing, and rather slow at that.

@trollswillbetrolls Actually, no. You had no idea what I was thinking during the show. I predicted the show from episode 1, even with the new characters entering the mix and everything. I am sure many others like myself, knew the ending from very early on. This show is predictable. Get over it. Just to make sure I'm getting my point across, it was obvious that Taiga wasn't going to be tsundere for awhile because that's usually how tsundere shows go. It's just plain obvious.

We know the ending the first time we saw the title and knew the characters' names. The story itself was still good. In every harem anime, we know which they will choose, the special girl. So all harems suck for being obvious? The only harem I couldn't choose the girl was MM!, but the creator died.

Taiga didn't stay the tsundere very long, nor did she abuse ryuuji that much.

Ami didn't stay the seductress, well maybe she did complicate things, but a few eps later we found out she just needed 1 guy to see her true self.

Minorin well usually the second in the harem line is the normal sweet girl trying to beat the tsundere, but she's kinda eccentric and doesn't show her feelings openly.

Kitamura didn't really care about him, other than he's a smart thinker and actually an exhibitionist.

Well the title gives it off easily. Taiga as in Tiger which translates to Tora. Ryu from Ryuuji s in Dragon which means Dora. ToraDora. Still, you'd think it'll be a louise-saito, shana-yuji tsundere master-slave relation ship, bam it's not. You thought ami was just a seductress for a bigger lovepoly, bam she's not. This anime had one of the most character depth and development from what I've seen so far.

@trollswillbetrolls I never said it was cliche, first off. Secondly, I don't think anyone actually thought it'd be a master-slave relationship, because that's kind of dumb. Plus if the title is translated into Tiger and Dragon, then recall the first episode, where it is mentioned by Ryuuji that the Tiger and the Dragon stand equal. That pretty much gave the series away completely. I can name several anime with the same amount or more character development.

@ShyGuyJet It has plot. And an interesting one at that. But the characters themselves stay mostly the same throughout the series. The only real characters developed are Light during his plan to kill L, who gets it reset when he touches the Deathnote again, and Matsuda, though it's mostly cliche manga development for him. Misa only gets demoted to extra, the other chick that dies because of Mello was non-existent before Light used her, and L had traces of it, but we never see it 'cause he dies.

All the other characters stay mostly the same, and it's the world itself that changes. And I think you have a wrong conception of character development. And that you yourself are biased over that series. It is original for it's setting and plot, and not for its characters.

It's an awesome anime, don't get me wrong, i love it dearly and all the characters. It's in my top 10, it's just not like, special or different from anything else. Tsundere relationships are quite common.

It's a splash of greatness, but the whole tsundere master/slave relationship is definitely common, and you can predict the ending from the start.
