Oh I know what you did. You turned a 'Memory Stick' into a flash drive. The difference is that some computers don't have a 'Memory Stick Port' all they have is many USB ports. So you need a flash drive! All those "electronic parts" are necessary because you have uhmm [current] providing the [power] which you need, but [you have to... I don't see why everyone's so confused. Look at the very end of that glob of components: there's a diode. What's a diode made of? Semiconductors, same as any flash memory. The capacitors and resistors are there to simulate a clock pulse (out of radio waves), a sort of makeshift oscillator. It's actually a very clever application of household components.
