To convey dignity, hold the money in a private account in the workers name. Many recipients die before they are paid what they paid in. Government takes the balance. Is it dignified to refuse an heir the fruit of their fathers labor? Does government redistribution of a workers money, on governments terms, lend to the promotion of dignity? Social Security denies ownership and stewardship of that which has been rightfully earned, which is a greater indignity than having nothing at all.

Congressmen & women don't pay into SS or collect from it. They have passed their own elite retirement benefit pkg where they can get paid their full salary until they die at the tax payers expense. Put them on SS with us and see how fast the system gets fixed.
