yeah, luckaly they car was only goin 15, I slammed into it goin too fast on my bike and it threw me over the car and into the middle of the street, somehow I managed to walk to the grass and from there I dont remember, it gave me a concution and almost ended up staying in the hospital for a while
I hope that drunk driver is punished to the max, which will never repay for the damages anyhow,. You have a strong son there. I wish him a quick and speedy full recovery. Looks like he is one tough son of bitch.
He truly is a toughy....lol Unfortunately the driver will only get a simple DUI....there is a pending lawsuit...we can only hope for the best that the law will allow....the laws are very strange here in Kansas...Can hardly wait to get back to a "normal" state...lol...Thanks for watching I really appreciate it and so does David.

I made the vow never ever to drink alcohol when I was Ten years old. Ive kept the promise since that day. It's so sad when others impose their lack of good judgement on the innocent. Keep fighting, recover and live strong. Your story of recovery will inspire many to think before they drink.

Yes it really is a real life horror, and the anguish is inexplicable, the seconds seemed like an eternity, and every time the doctors would tell me that he would not make it through the night, I can't even begin to tell you how it made me feel, and the 6 hour car ride getting here was a nightmare. As I drove, I was contacted by the Chaplin telling me that my son would probably not be alive when I got here. I'm very thankful to have him with me today. This truly will be the best Mothers Day ever.
Hey Thistle...I caught wind today that this may not be this guys first DUI!!!!! I am so spitting mad!!!!! Seems that he may actually have another one pending...so...who knows how many he has had...we now have a Victim Advocate through MADD working with us...there has been another court date set for May 30....I hope the hang it in his ass!!!!

Yeah...they took his blood...the night of the accident...which was almost 2 months ago...still no report? I say WTF??? I don't understand why he wasn't charged either...and I can't seem to get any answers...he hit my son doing in excess of 65mph...and yes the police investigated...which is when they determined that it was David's fault for not being in the crosswalk...not sure what that really has to do with anything...grrrrrr......mad mad mama!!!

Leaps and bounds my friend, and thank you for your wishes....so far looks like he will have a near complete recovery....dealing with a few issues both physically and mentally...but the brain damage seems to be minimal at this point...
So far...not a freaking thing....wasn't arrested...refused a breathalizer......still waiting on a toxicology report to see what his blood alcohol content was....I don't get it...I just don't get it...and all the cops could say was that David was at fault because he wasn't in the crosswalk...what ever happened to the pedestrian having the right of way??

And the odds were against him from the start....they told me that he would not be alive by the time I got there....I had a 7+ hour trip and turned it into 6....then for the next 3 days they told me he would not live through the night, then they told me he would most likely come out of this with the mentality of a 2 year old. He's pretty close to normal, small amount of brain damage. Mostly memory....
I bet ur son is as proud of his Mum as his Mum is of him, this is a great tribute to his courage and endeavour at over-coming adversity, well done to both of you!!!

My dad had his lower leg shattered in a car accident about 20 years ago. The doctors put a rod in his leg. Your sons accident looked much worse.

My dad had 2 years of therapy on his leg, but he was almost 60 years old when he got hit, so he didn't heal so fast.

Thank you for your wonderful thoughts, comments and wishes...Faith is what has gotten us through all of this...David and I are very thankful that he has made it through all of this. He really has his work cut out for him and this will affect his life forever, while the guy who hit him may only get a simple DUI out of this. I think that is a travesty of the judicial system...I just hope others watch this video and choose to never drink and drive.

OMG, that is real life horror! The anguish you must have gone thru while waiting to see if he'd be alright. Thank god he is here was us. I hope he is doing well. He is a true super man and a survivor! Thank you for sharing this.

Yes it really is a real life horror, and the anguish is inexplicable, the seconds seemed like an eternity, and every time the doctors would tell me that he would not make it through the night, I can't even begin to tell you how it made me feel, and the 6 hour car ride getting here was a nightmare. As I drove, I was contacted by the Chaplin telling me that my son would probably not be alive when I got here. I'm very thankful to have him with me today. This truly will be the best Mothers Day ever.

Hey Thistle...I caught wind today that this may not be this guys first DUI!!!!! I am so spitting mad!!!!! Seems that he may actually have another one pending...so...who knows how many he has had...we now have a Victim Advocate through MADD working with us...there has been another court date set for May 30....I hope the hang it in his ass!!!!

Yeah...they took his blood...the night of the accident...which was almost 2 months ago...still no report? I say WTF??? I don't understand why he wasn't charged either...and I can't seem to get any answers...he hit my son doing in excess of 65mph...and yes the police investigated...which is when they determined that it was David's fault for not being in the crosswalk...not sure what that really has to do with anything...grrrrrr......mad mad mama!!!

No charges pressed...awaiting a toxicology report...he refused the breathalyzer....and let him walk away....says it is my sons fault cuz he wasn't in the crosswalk....makes me want to spit nails....and yes my son was a bit buzzed the night that he got hit...but still...I thought the pedestrian always had the right of way...apparently not in Kansas....

Leaps and bounds my friend, and thank you for your wishes....so far looks like he will have a near complete recovery....dealing with a few issues both physically and mentally...but the brain damage seems to be minimal at this point...

So far...not a freaking thing....wasn't arrested...refused a breathalizer......still waiting on a toxicology report to see what his blood alcohol content was....I don't get it...I just don't get it...and all the cops could say was that David was at fault because he wasn't in the crosswalk...what ever happened to the pedestrian having the right of way??

Thank you....it is a lot of hard work for him...he says his leg and arm feel heavier cuz of the titanium...and trust me...his body took a lot....I don't think many people survive being hit by a speeding car...I think what saved him is the type of car...he was hit by a Corvette...but still.....

And the odds were against him from the start....they told me that he would not be alive by the time I got there....I had a 7+ hour trip and turned it into 6....then for the next 3 days they told me he would not live through the night, then they told me he would most likely come out of this with the mentality of a 2 year old. He's pretty close to normal, small amount of brain damage. Mostly memory....
