Yeah, this guy dropped his resume and danced around the question without providing any insight to what's going on in havana. I don't give a $#!+ as to how important this task is to you. I want know if you're getting the job done and if not, what changes are being made to ensure the job will get done.

From personal experience the U.S. Interests Office in Havana under Farrar has been a total disaster. Even more red tape than the dictatorship outside their doors, untrained consular officers that work like robots with no quality control whatsoever, excessive fees etc.

They came up with the most profitable scam ever by creating a call center in Mexico (why not in the U.S? We need the jobs you know) for appointments. They charge $11 for 8 minutes (more expensive than calling Cuba!) and make you call over and over in the hope that you will be able to advance the appointment date for your family members.

In reality you’ll never be able to advance anything but your money to them (I called them weekly for two years…), all real advancements most likely happen through corruption either in Mexico or at USINT. I really hope that a new Republican administration cleans house soon, an internal investigation is long overdue…
