I have always liked Celtic Kings. Just because you can't build dos not mean that caputring is not as fun. There is some enjoyment in having huge battles over a single fort, knowing that it can give you a foot hold. It is also fun when you capture a village to cut off food supplies and force armies out of protection.
Yeah, the fact that you can't build anything was enough to kill my enthusiasm and make me not really want o buy it. Because, you're only going to be playing comps and not having variety in base setups kills that much more replay value.
About the game: Cons: Cant build buildings. Few unit types. Multiplayer Community = Non existent . Simply "Rock, Paper, Scissors" gameplay(Horses beat archers, Archers beat Swordsmen, Swordsmen beat Spearmen, ect) Pros: Pretty Addicting. The game is made to make players that generally "Turtle" "Come out of their shell"(Your army needs food, you get food from Villages that are OUTSIDE your city walls). Light weight(250 MBs) Skirmish games. I wouldnt pay more than $10 for this game.
Oh yeah!! But there's an instant training button in each city where all units in the town gains a level, doesn't matter how many, it's always 1200 gold if I remember correctly. And I don't like that feature, it makes it too easy if you have lots of gold

No building is not that bad, it's focuesed more on capturing rather than building.
Which is a good thing for me at least.
And few units = more balance!
