I think the reason why games/sports like Cricket and Rugby are not popular in the U.S. is because they are not "blue collar" enough. When I as an American think of such sports my immediate notion is of upper class snobbery. I know I'm probably wrong but perception is 3/4 of the battle. Plus these sports are British Commonwealth sports and we know the U.S./British history. Of course this doesn't explain why Americans like golf, tennis, etc --- so what the hell do I know.
