I know this is an older review and folks have already told you what tate mode is, but record mode is to be able to save the game to your internal battery, or in my case any battery will be shot in mine, but I have an Action Replay cart (to play imports of course) and a regular RAM cart for storing saves. This one's a great game, myself I have Layer Section, the Japanese version of the game, and I appreciate having it every time I fire it up on my Saturn.
Thanks for the Vid, I am looking at a site offering a used copy and seeing it being played helps! I wish you let the game play for a bit when you got around to talking about the sound and music. It would have helped a lot but the game looks sweet so to hell with the sound I guess. Anyone know any place other then ebay selling saturn games or action replays for the saturn?? Really want to tap into those JP Saturn games...
Your style is good, but you need to be more informative. I would suggest doing a little more research like reading about the game online, or reading the manual. Not tying to diss you, just thought it would help.
I've played other games where you can only use homing weapons to shoot the lower altitude enemies, I don't think it's too unusual for shooters in the 32-bit era.
Sega made the screen rotate so you could play on a long screen. They were ahead of their time and knew that screens would be turnable-- much like they are today on computers. Nice review!
The arcade Mode is for people who have a pivot mode on their screen. I use the arcade mode with the saturn mode controlls, so that I can play this game as a horizontal scroller like Gradius or Darius, becouse my TV would break if flip it
Awsome reveiw dude, it looks really fun and challenging, my kind of game :D! I think the arcade mode is for when you're in bed laying on your side and sinse you're tired the ability to see more ahead really helps, that's the best explanation I can think of lol!
Oh, and the arcade mode is for when you want to flip the TV on its side and play it the way you do at the arcade, rather than having the screen show more of the sides and less of what's ahead of you.
This game ain't that good. Your ship is way too big with all the shit coming at you. Darius Gaiden was a much better Saturn U.S. release.

Are you stupid?
It's Tate Mode. You have to turn your television and can play in full screen.

It's TATE mode, dude. Notice how more of the screen gets filled out. You need to flip your TV sideways.

go to Play Asia for action replay carts, they have a limited number of them, but mine came in the mail last week, they are about 30$

Suggestions:
Don't review a game without completing it first. You only hamstring your review and your credibility.

That was fairly informative but you might consider using a script or recording in multiple takes.
