This is actually a common type of breakfast. It is a grilled type of bread (varies) with deep fried stick of flour knead that puffs up, and sometimes with different sauce and stuff wrapped in it.

It is really heavy on carb, suited for people who do heavy physical work, but the version in China might be different from the ones I know of.

Let's not draw lines of conflict between cultures and just accept that different cultures do things differently.

From what I understand,Italian cooking is based on fresh ingredients prepared simply. Chinese people, depending on where you are (because China is a BIG country with LOTS of different cultures and people), may prefer their food more complex and heavily spiced. This looks like Northwestern Chinese food to me which can be quite heavy (and spicy!)

In this case, this looks like jian bing or sao bing. All it is thin bread kinda like a pita or roti wrapped around fillings like fresh or preserved vegetables, condiments, sometimes sliced or stewed meat (pork and mutton are most commonly used). The vender adds some fried cruller (fried dough) and then folds it in half.

I don't think commenters would be like "OOO THAT COULD BE CAT OR DOG!" if this street scene were taking place on a U.S. street corner, tbh. Xenophobia :P

The world is pretty globalised nowadays esp HK. Cuisines are not bound by geographical limitations. Everyone is copying everyone else. You see La Mien and Mi Xian in Hong Kong and Cantonese dumpling and dim sum in North China. Completely possible for northern crepes to be available in Hong Kong.
