They should close that area of beach directly in front of the landing strip for safety reasons.It gives a great view,but if a control surface or major engine malfunction occurred during the aircraft's final approach,it would definitely make headlines the next day.

This is a real landing at a real airport. It's Princess Juliana International,

St Maarten, Dutch Antilles. That was actually quite a conservative landing for this airport. I once saw a KLM 747 clear the fence by about 3.5 metres, and an Air France A340 cross wind landing that looked like it was going to hit the beachside barat the until the last minute! New underpants please!

My wife & I were there in July and I made a plan for day 2 of my vacation. After a 2 double-latte Starbucks breakfast & 4 Red Bull lunch I got on the beach-wall & prepared as the next 747 set glide path & final approach(Air Singapore flt.5682).

The moment the nose passed I jumped up grabbed the wing & landed on the runway with the mighty jet. Unfortunately, I did tear my shorts on the airport fence. Do not try this, but I wouldn't trade that 12.7 sec for all the Mexicans in the United States.
