  • Kimock around 9:15 is fucking brilliant. sounds so good.

  • GOOD STUFF

  • sick sick fucking SICK!!!!

    KIMOCK+TREY= LEGENDARY!!

  • THANK YOU for posting!

  • Trey was in the bay area recording with Claypool and Copeland in Marin. A good year indeed ... ///=}}}>>>>>>>>

  • @trustinstinct Incorrect, but a nice idea!

  • One of the fortunate to attend this show amazing groove. Original Phil and Friends was awesome. thx Trey

  • I agree with the guy below me...Trey has an awesome tone and he flows through this song very nicely.

  • Nicely done Trey. One of the better hybrid scale solo's on a Shakedown you're ever gonna see.

  • @RealSoundNow He got it as close as he could, trey style that is. I prefer jerry. Still smokin though!

  • Phil is freakin Legend!

  • i love trey man, listening to him do this with phil, or even like terrapin with Phish, it's all love!!!

you cannot deny the grateful dead, or phish, just jam!

  • The Dead would never play this tune (in modern times). Plus, this a Bob Weir tune. And, I thought it sounded pretty good, Decent Jerry imitation, I'd call it a Dead tribute. They done good.

  • @SheikhTaqiyyameister huh? how is shakedown street a weir tune

  • @SheikhTaqiyyameister your an idiot

  • @SheikhTaqiyyameister its not about doing a jerry imitation its about playin the song with passion and skill

  • 3:50....i love trey.

  • At least Trey isn't attempting to be a Jerry clone.

  • maybe the dark is from your eyes...

  • nice work iamhydrogeno2

  • dude why is pepole puttin down trey are pepole forgettin that trey and phish when they first starting tp play they were a coverband for the dead

  • Idk what you guys are talking about, i listened to grateful dead so intensely before i even heard a phish song, and i love grateful dead, but Trey is Doin a pretty fuckin damn good job.

its not right to compare trey to Jerry.

  • such a bad singer :( booooo trey u wish u were jerry

  • @fuzzycuddles

    listen to yourself,

    Trey is the predecessor .

Phish and all of the other wonderful jam bands would not have spawned with the grateful dead but to deny Trey's greatness is sheerly ignorant... even Jerry would agree with that.

  • @CaptainGomez

lame answer man, all they do is play fluff head over and over and call it music. They (at no time ever) have come close to the catalog of great types of music the dead plays. the dead plays everything from mo-town to hard rock n roll man (p)fish plays one type of music and that is it. LAME.. GL with your argument though :)

  • @fuzzycuddles

btw JERRY would NOT respect a ripoff artist who gives no props to the man who was the master. They really really wish they were the Dead and make a shit ton of money off people who really and truly wish the same.

  • @fuzzycuddles

BOOOOO to you and BOOOOOO to the wanna be Trey

  • @fuzzycuddles How much has life kicked you in the ass?

  • @fuzzycuddles

You sir, are a total hater. Trey has absolutely nothing to prove to you as far as his respect/admiration for Jerry is concerned. There are bigger things to worry about-- PS get a life!

  • @fuzzycuddles It makes you that upset trey is covering this song? "JERRY would NOT respect...bla bla blaaaa" what, you had a convo with Jerry last night? Respect the music man, your the one with the bad argument.

  • @jdwrx01 and it's not like it's a Phish show. This is a P&F show so who gives a hoot. I wish Phish would bust it out.

  • @fuzzycuddles This is not trey ripping off jerry. Its trey paying respect to an amazing artist who gave him great influence. Its impossible to compare phish to the dead there just to different. If you dont see that than its your problem.

  • @spacemange 'Its impossible to compare phish to the dead there just to different. If you dont see that than its your problem.'

That's true. Then there were the drugs. That was actually a far bigger problem.

  • @29marine1982 hahahaha. ok guy. maybe the darkness from your eye needs to leave- cause Phish has been sharon the groove for a while now.

  • it's unfair how bad ass trey is.. and whats funny is so many people that will never be near 1/1 million'th as bad ass couldnt even hold his jock.. but THEY are the critics, right?

  • 3:50

  • phil, trey, mike, and kimmock! great speech about organ donation, and a great show! <///#~~

  • John Molo gives it an awesome groove

  • @ibanezguitar1 I agree. He's a great drummer.

  • whoa damn

  • go new kid <3

  • ROCKIN!!!!!!

  • pretty solid.

  • I think its the "e" that bugs me most ("e" is NOT part of a Dminor chord) - yes it is a 9 and technically will work - but I guess its just that I can HEAR Treys part and I think it would sound better to hear the nice subtle difference when it goes to the Dminor (actually a Dminor 7) as the song actually goes - but truly, no biggie really - just somethin I noticed and was actually kinda surprised by.

  • @havenmusic42 Get a life. I am so thankful I'm not so anal-retentive that I can't enjoy the pleasures in life. Re-read your post in a few months and I bet you'll see how asinine they are.

  • love it - only thing that kinda bugs me is that everytime they get to the bridge ("Maybe that's cuz it's midnight", etc) Trey plays Fmajor 7, Em, 3 times in a row when actually the way the song really goes, its only twice and then steps down and subs the Dminor for the Fmaj 7.

  • @havenmusic42

Fmajor and Dminor both contain the same notes so when Phil hits the D its matches up

  • That's really nice. Thanks for posting it!

  • Trey rules

  • Why can't we all just get along?

  • Hostility with Dead or Phish tunes is totally off-base. Wake up. Maybe don't use the internet so much!

  • See above. Gary Moore. Eric Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Vai, Albert Lee. All popular guitarists, at least among musicians. What does popularity have to do with what I stated earlier anyway? Slash is popular. Does that make him great? What's popular ain't always right and what's right ain't always popular. The biggest mistake people make is when the equate popularity with ability. Eminem sucks ass, so does Slash.

  • @jeffhickman10 Oh look, another mal-informed basement guitarist jerkoff making grand proclamations about nothing based on a half assed coverband video. Watch the Clifford Ball Maze and then feel free to point me to any guitarist playing anything even remotely within the same galaxy, let alone universe, as Trey Anastasio is playing on that song. Phish earned every bit of popularity despite a total lack of recognition by the mainstream press for years while inferior bands were slobbered over.

  • @texasbeltbuckler LOL! Go suck Trey's cock you fuckin no talent loser!

  • @texasbeltbuckler PLUS. Everything I said is my OPINION dickweed. I believe I still have the right to express that. Not unless I woke up in Russia. Basement guitarist jerkoff? HA! Post some vids dude. I'll show ya a jerkoff asswipe!!!!!! FUCK YOU! Watch ANY Gary Moore vid clip. Or any of the others I mentioned. You have no argument so STFU!

  • @jeffhickman10 lol, the only reason people are arguing with is based on what you said and that they disargee. nothing wrong with a little passion. and to chime in, trey is technically very good. his compositional songs are very complex and he wrote all 4 parts. oh, he was also like 18 lol. he is very versatile as well. switching between rhythm and lead. between jamming and solo'ing. i think he is one of the best. keywords: ONE OF. he is not overrated. see anything from dec. 1995 ;)

  • @jeffhickman10 you have no idea what youre talking about, just back out now

  • @Brantly54 You're right. From this day forward I will defer all musical knowledge/opinions to you, oh great one.

  • @jeffhickman10 I'm glad you can name some good guitarists, but that doesn't make you any less of a moron for underestimating Trey Anastasio.

  • @jeffhickman10 Actualy Slash is a good guitar player. I was never much of a G&R fan but I have recently come to appreciate his playing. Trey has some nice funky licks happening here. It's all good. lol

  • NIIICee

  • One of my favorite trey solo. SO happy to see this video up!

  • yeah recently eric johnson has been my favorite. great combination of improv/insane technique

  • if you dont like this your foolish.

  • @celeryface: you know it's a sick lick when Trey starts drooling

  • 3:50 for the sickest lick ever

  • @celeryface i second that

  • very dumb statement jeffhickman

  • very over rated player

  • @jeffhickman10

he is pretty damn boring that's for sure

  • @jeffhickman10 ..who?

  • @jeffhickman10 i could understand the argument (though i wouldnt quite agree) that he may be overrated TECHNICALLY, but technique is only one part of a player. Treys playing always gets the crowd dancing and everyone that comes loves the sound. Isnt that what makes a player?

  • @ajoselowe Not really. If that's the measuring stick, then it could be said that Eminem is a player too. And we all know that's not true. Also, Gary Moore just died. It's a slap in the face that guys like Trey get all the credit when they will never be as good a player as Gary was. Just my two cents. I don't think Trey sucks and I enjoy listening to him but I still think he's WAY overrated.

  • @jeffhickman10 ok, but isolate "jamming" as one guitar technique is the realm of guitar techniques. you have to admit the guy is a master at that technique, excluding all other techniques

  • @ajoselowe I agree to a point. Improvisation is a MUST. He does do improv fairly well. The mistake I make is I listen to music from the technical/science/feeling viewpoint; although not in that order. I believe "feel" and "technical ability" should go hand in glove. Trey is passable as a guitarist, but I can't help but say that he is rather generic sounding. I would listen to him over Slash any day of the week. Slash just sucks snow leopard ass.

  • @jeffhickman10 Generic? I can't think of one guitar player that he truly sounds like. If you really dive into Phish and listen to his improvisation you will find that Trey really developed his own vocabulary on the guitar. However, he most definitely was influenced by Zappa, Hendrix, Garcia, Old school Soul/funk, Santana.....etc.

Thats just the way I see it anyway.

  • @jeffhickman10

Let me say that Trey is definitely trying to imitate and give a Garcia vibe. If you want to call this style of playing generic, you must admit to calling Gerry's style generic. Second, if you think Trey as a guitarist is "generic" please name a few that have some popularity and which you don't think sound generic. Look at Trey from any point you'd like, technically, scientifically, or emotionally. Anyway you slice the pie he's not generic. /rant

  • ahh Treys having soo much fun takin jerrys lead
