i'm home schooled, what do i do then? i was thinking of having my Boss write one, and maybe a manager write the other. i figured having my mom write one is the worst thing possible, but there really is nobody else.
would maybe the paster where i volunteered work? i helped for a couple years, but haven't lately...
@PreCollegeCoach thank you! ok one last quick question (sorry! literally no one else to ask) where do i tell them to send them? I was thinking of giving my LORS the email to the college (they probably have one relating to apps) and have them email the letters including my name and info so the college knows who it's about and why they're even getting it. Would the college be able to link those letters to my application? And should i submit my app before they send the LORS or does it matter?
@knightsintodreams It doesn't really matter. Colleges prefer snail-mailed letters with signed and sealed envelopes from the writers, not from you. Default = call each college and ask their policy on this issue. You won't go wrong. Good luck!
Seriously my guess is you get accepted because you can pay. The acceptance letters have rolled into my home and I have regular kids. All you have to do is decline to fill out the FAFSA and sign a waiver and they happily admit you. The other really helpful thing is to follow the instructions on the application. If a school gets everything at the same time you are less likely to get lost in the shuffle.
@MissBio2222 The standard is two letters, one from a teacher and one from a guidance counselor who doesn't even know you; or, a letter from two teachers. Hope this helps.
@MissBio2222 Get as many as you can from outside the high school, but send only what the college requires. Some college want you to send in only two letters, others will read every letter that is submitted. Check with each school for their EXACT requirement. Following directions is a big PLUS in getting admitted.
No college will accept what you asked. Ask other students who the best writer-teacher is at your school. Or, find a teacher who's willing to write one. Some teachers won't know what to say and ask you to write it. And then they'll sign it and mail it. Good luck!
Hello! I was under the impression that we weren't allowed to see our letters of recommendation. You said that were were, before we graduated. So, after we are already accepted into college, we're allowed to see our letters of recommendation?
Typically you are not allowed, but I did NOT say you could during the application process. It's only AFTER you've been accepted by colleges that the writer should have no problem in giving you a copy. If there is a problem, find out why.
There is little or no demand for this topic. My focus is to reach as many students and parents as possible on the most asked-about topics, many of which are very relevant to international students.
High school is NOT the time to focus on many interests: focus on one and be very good at it. Schools are NOT looking for well-rounded students, but students who demonstrate a passion for ONE thing. Trying to prove a passion for many things will not be credible. Hope this helps.
Excellent advice-you give students an "insider's" perspective-so key

@knightsintodreams Go for as many LORs as you can. You're thinking rightly.
