If someone here really wants a proper insight into how and why the tigers are led into becoming "Man-Eaters", let me direct their attention into a book called "The Man Eaters of Kumaon" by late Jim Corbett. Mr. Corbett was the best tiger hunter of his time who had stalked and hunted down a number of Man-eater tigers at the then British Indian govt.'s request. At the same time he had also studied the behaviors of these animals in the wild and was a pioneer against hunting of tigers for sport.
Addendum: Just curious, but how many of you oh so concerned for the poor tiger victims loose sleep at night of the 50,000 something people that die every day from something much more easily preventable like starvation, or the genocides that occur in Africa, or the homeless that starve on the streets while we house and feed criminals at taxpayer expense? Those are pandemics, not a few people getting attacked by tigers. Coexistence and respect for nature is something that we have forgotten.
While we are not "primitive" we are still animals. Unfortunately, we can and are viewed as a prey item by some species. So let us remove all of the species that might prey on us from the planet. Who cares what happens to the biosphere, at least we are safe. These tigers are attacking men because Bengali people are no longer allowed to shoot, beat or kill them anymore since they're listed as endangered. They no longer have fear of humans like they had for thousands of years. People have tried so hard to avoid these creatures, theres even a district in Bangladesh known for holding their stands before dawn to avoid the tigers attack since they're always running around the streets.

This is why it's a very good idea to have a few dogs around. Tigers may be able to seek up on you, but it would be a damn sight harder to do that to a dog. At the least, the dog would smell the tiger, instinctively know that was bad, and start barking a warning. At best, the dog would confront the tiger. The tiger, realizing it's lost the element of surprise, might well decide to call off his attack, and seek "safer", less troublesome prey.

in the us and europe, there is a population explosion of wild pigs that is out of control, the narrator said 7 out of 10 pigs have to be culled just to keep the population stable. india should absolutely consider releasing a number of these wild pigs in this area, the tigers and other predators in the area would be so stuffed with pig, risking going into villages would be far less likely (just put "pig bomb" in the youtube search box)

This is why it's a very good idea to have a few dogs around. Tigers may be able to seek up on you, but it would be a damn sight harder to do that to a dog. At the least, the dog would smell the tiger, instinctively know that was bad, and start barking a warning. At best, the dog would confront the tiger. The tiger, realizing it's lost the element of surprise, might well decide to call off his attack, and seek "safer", less troublesome prey.

in the us and europe, there is a population explosion of wild pigs that is out of control, the narrator said 7 out of 10 pigs have to be culled just to keep the population stable. india should absolutely consider releasing a number of these wild pigs in this area, the tigers and other predators in the area would be so stuffed with pig, risking going into villages would be far less likely (just put "pig bomb" in the youtube search box)

Sure, it's ridiculous to narrate ominously like the tigers are ninja assassins trying to kill everyone when the reality is they just like meat (and people are meat), but I still think it's interesting to examine the changes that can affect their diets or hunting habits.

But MY argument has always been that it's not a perfect world, it probably won't ever be, and so long as people are sharing space w/ predators, there WILL BE run-ins and predation; furthermore when these relatively minute hiccups in system that's otherwise tilted infinitely in our species' favor DO OCCUR, it's totally and completely ridiculous to treat it like a fucking terrorist attack and project our own darker tendencies & prejudices onto them.

You live in a world where genocide, war, sex trafficking, slavery, and umpteen other human caused tragedies claim thousands every day, and you're crusading against an endangered species that claims what, one or two people a day, tops? The death toll for ASPIRIN puts those numbers to shame in the U.S. alone. Should we try to stop tiger deaths? YES. Is it the biggest issue on our plate? It's a crumb. on the floor. under the oven.

@WhyGym Valid point, and i was admittedly being a bit of a cock. But like I touched on in the comment i just left, I was also trying to make the point that really when you put it into perspective, it;s not that big of a problem. some places you might get hit by a drunk driver and burned alive, other places you might get mauled to death and eaten by a tiger; you can't sterilize the world. Everywhere you live there's a chance you might die in a really sucky way. probably not, but maybe.

@12GaugeSteel I disagree with your perspective because I believe that as a good citizen of this world, we have to help out whenever/wherever we can, no matter how small or big the problem may be. I've met ppl who've been directly affected by this issue (Tiger killing/eating humans) and I can assure you that it is worth every effort one puts into finding a peaceful solution. We can't just dismiss an issue base on comparison - to something bigger, esp when human death(s) is involve.

My claim was never that it doesn't make people sad, it's that it's a relatively small issue. @WhyGym You can greatly improve things, AND WE HAVE, but nomatter how good it gets shit will probably happen, and it's good to keep it in perspective. PLUS I mean dude you were calling it a pandemic and talking like it was a serious cause to be taken up. It's not. 60 a year in India, the one or two a day was a generous estimate. You can't just add up however many years you need to get into the thousands and call it a pandemic. What about the lightning pandemic, or the bumblebee pandemic?

Stop trying to project the worst qualities of your own species onto another species acting on survival instincts. And if someone I cared about was killed by a tiger? I'd probably feel the same as if someone I cared about was killed by a falling tree or an icy road or lightning. horribly saddened, but I wouldn't take it PERSONALLY.

We build in places where animals live and hunt, cutting them off from food and/or mates. We cut down trees, spread chemicals, kill their prey for materialistic BS like fancy coats, trophies, or superstition. We do all this without caring about consequences.

He's trying to strip us of human qualities that took millions of years to develop, we are not primative animals because of our highly advanced brain, thus making us a highly intelligent animal, i.e. human. @xcruzrr6 India is overpopulated, where do you want them to build? You have no faith in mankind, no faith in education. We have to educate and support the indian people about birth control (population control), and preserve the tiger population. Give them vaccines and technologies to sustain life without having to over-reproduce. Lower the infant death rate, so their kids can grow up to produce - .e.g. farm. Over population is the main cause of most problems in India. Lets minimize this problem.
