  • This is just beautiful. Many thanks. I've always liked this song but now I love it more than ever.

  • @LicoriceTattoo I think that's the best compliment. :)

  • @LicoriceTattoo I think that's the best compliment. :)

  • What an awesome selection for this song. Great job!

  • @DCLAURIE What a terribly unthoughtful, backward, outdated, and unwelcome comment. Find something better to do. Something positive and inclusive. Stop being so hateful towards others and show some love. Either that or stay quiet until you figure out the difference between right and wrong. What's a healthy way of thinking for everyone? Try to quietly figure that out before sporting your ignorance of better ways. You're an embarrassment.

  • @debibulated Hear, hear!

  • In the olden golden days, there were cardboard clowns at amusement parks with height marks to see if kids (and dwarfs) were tall enough to go on certain rides. Now they weigh you and use that big loud gong scale if you're too fat to go on the ride.

  • check out my channel for new coney island construction feb 2011, i made 2 videos of it and will be making more :)

  • this is so beautiful...

  • all the stars make their wises on her eyes...beautiful

  • beautiful

  • Wonderfull video! Grreat job! Thanks!!

  • send it to tom, he´ll appreciate. really nice.

  • This is really great. It struck a special chord with me. Thanks for giving user-made music videos a little bit more credit...I'm generally appalled by the majority of what I've seen on youtube of this sort, but this is really something. Well done, and thank you again.

  • @debibulated Its a brand of Ice cream in Ireland and the Uk. This vid is just lovely. Fair play to you.

  • Amazing footage deftly assembled accompanying a beautiful song.

  • fantastic, simply fantastic

  • great video

  • Wonderfully put together, perfectly suited to the wonderful music by Mr Waits. You really did it justice and that's a rare thing to see; you even managed to amplify the sense of nostalgia and of good times faded.

    A pleasure to watch.

  • the TOPS!!! good work on this

  • nice!

  • Mi canción favorita para afeitarme.

    Grande Tom!

  • Me too

  • In Sydney, Australia, there's a theme park called Luna Park, and a designated section called "Coney Island", I went there last week and recognised majority of the rides from the video. This video is really well done and makes me want to go back to Luna Park...right after my elbow heals.

  • Very nicely done video- I remember some of those rides from Steeplechase

  • I laugh and i cry all together when I hear that song!

  • I just don't see what's disgusting about Tom Waits, or the way he sings this song.

  • No amusement rides like that anymore.

    Too many lawyers today.

  • this was great. As a Brooklyn native and a huge Tom Waits fan, I really dug this.

  • If you stop the film at exactly 0:52 you will see an eye. a beautiful piece of art

  • This song always makes me feel kind of sad. Couldn't tell you why.

  • It's Tom. He's a magician. I'm a hard man, but Tom always brings me to tears. Well almost every time. Bless you, Tom!

  • I know what you mean, I made this song me and my girlfriend's song. I loved every moment with her, but she left me a while back and listening to this song after the struggle it made me miss her more. But I allowed myself to let go of the branch and accept it, and I enjoy this song as much as I ever did when I first listened to it.

  • good work.

    Tom would like it.

  • does it get any better then this.. :)

  • wow was FANTASTIC.

  • Again, thanks very much for all the positive comments.

  • nicely done

  • This was great! Thank you, I love Tom....

    joanie

  • what a beautiful world it was. its looked more like a dreamland than reality. such wonderful.

  • beautiful video!!! so sad they're closing coney i've always wanted to go there =(

  • Went out today for the first time I just wanted to go the NY aquarium and realized it was Coney Island. I rode the train out to the end of the line and then it was like I was at the end of the world..feels like NY after the apocalypse. How funny that I used to dance to this song in Portland, OR (as a stripper) and now I am in Law school in NY. I hope to go as much as I can before Astroland gets totally torn down.

  • @balletlaw what and odd song to strip to..lovely and steeeped in pathos but odd for sure

  • @balletlaw did you dance at the magic garden in china town?

  • @balletlaw did you dance at the magic garden in china town?

  • long live nyc memories. tom waits' songs match it.

  • hey tom one of your buddies from the rose of Tralee has Gone,DAVE IS ON MIDNIGHT TRAIN

  • I loved your video and Tom Waits song is a beautiful soundtrack for it. What a different world that was! Do you know where I could find footage like this?

  • I really liked it and so I have added it to my Tom Waits website in the 'Unofficial Video' section. I hope that's ok! If not, just let me know and I'll remove it.

  • I was reading a novel which described Coney Island at the turn of the century and looked on YouTube for film clips. Your presentation managed to capture the feeling. I found still photos of Dreamland. I always thought Disneyland was a new idea. Boy, was I wrong! Loved what you did here. Thanks

  • Thanks for all the positive comments. :)

  • You've done something wonderful, here. This is what YouTube is for.

  • Best CI vid on youtube....♥

  • This is a good piece of work, I like the pathos of the sound track which strengthens the rich visuals

  • Gorgeous video, gorgeous song.

I wish I could share the memories of those times....I still love Coney Island.

  • one of the most surreal parts of coney island were the cornices at the washington baths. another surreal place was the atlantis bar, a place that featured western and country and western entertainers.

  • i remember steeplechase and rode that panama slide...where did they manage to get those fantastically surreal film slips?

  • Perfect perfect perfect

  • nice *.*

  • .... miss them old days too

  • that was so beautiful - never heard that song before - lovely video too :)

  • top notch, old chap.

  • Tom should see this

  • This is so lovely. Thank you for taking the time to make it, and perfect music choice, if you ask me. Especially poignant to watch this now that Astroland, the last gasp of Coney Island, is being razed to make way for developer Thor Equities' malls and hotels. (At leats they're not going to take down that Cyclone.)

  • Great work.

  • well not the coney island baby i was looking for but it was cool

  • Wonderful Song

  • Excellent!

  • Loved it , adored it, favorited it.

    Stirred me deeply.

  • *weeping*

  • Great job on this video! My wife and I made it out to Coney Island for the first time last summer and even though it's a mere shell of its former self we enjoyed ourselves a lot. Especially the old Nathan's Stand on Stillwell and Surf. Where else can you still get a 24oz cup filled to the top with ice cold Rheingold!? "Blood Money" is a great album! This and "God's Away On Business" are my favorite tracks. I have always admired how deeply poetic and soulful Waits's material is.

  • Song and footage combine beautifully - gone are the

    heydays of amusement parks... :(

  • i realy like this video!and its a beautiful song...one of my favourites...
