I really think that lea can make a good Eponine. She has had experience and is a terrific singer. Also, her features can work for her to play eponine. Especially the dark hair :)

But I have to say I love that Sasha Baron Cohen is playing Thenardier. Some interesting casting choices - not all of which I agree with but then sometimes the least likely person can change your mind. Ex. Zellweger as Roxie Hart in Chicago? Never saw it but I ended up loving her!! You just never know
Based on the limited acting experience of Swift and what I've seen, i have some trouble seeing her as Eponine. Not to mention, I think she's too beautiful to play the part. I kind of hope that they really play down Swifts look. I've loved this story for so long and the role of Eponine is very near and dear to my heart. In my mind, Frances Ruffelle has always been Eponine.
If I had to choose between these 4- I think I'd go with Evan. Lea most definitely has the singing experience but let's put the fact that she was in the broadway show to the side: this is a movie people and to deliver this performance on camera is an entirely different thing all together. Eponine is probably one of the favourited and beloved characters of this story: we all are going to have strong opinions of who should play.
Wow - honestly as a true fan of the story and the musical - I doubt any of these girls would really capture the spirit of Eponine. I'm a little disappointed that Swift has been cast. I can not believe that Taylor Swift was chosen to play the role of Eponine. She can not sing and shouldn't of even been considered for this role. She better not accept this role. I just saw this musical last month and it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I'm curious about seeing it as a movie--I understand that they will have to change it, and adapt it for screen---but I'm a little leary about the casting so far...if they don't get this right, I'm going to be crushed
The fact people are actually thinking Taylor would be a good Eponine have obviously never seen Les Miserables. She can't sing her own songs live very well and, not trying to be horrible, they are not very challenging. On My Own is difficult for a trained broadway actress and Taylor would murder it. @xxxmissblondzyxxx I have seen both Taylor and 'Les Miserables' live and I think she is very capable of doing the role. Taylor CAN sing live. I saw her during her Fearless Tour and at the 2011 CMA Awards and thought she sounded great. I don't think she will struggle with singing "On My Own" if she gets the part. She does have plenty of singing experience unlike Pierce Brosnan, who never sang a note in his life and did a poor job of singing in 'Mamma Mia'.

I suggest neither Lea or Taylor. Taylor's voice isn't strong enough. Lea just doesn't appeal to me as Eponine. Plus, I can't imagine Taylor as a brunette, much less a girl living on the streets.
Also, has anyone noticed that Taylor moves around a lot on stage when she performs on tour but still sounds amazing? People who are saying 'she's just not suited for a musical' well she obviously is since she dances and moves around whilst singing on stage every night which is basically what you do in a musical as well as acting which she is known to be good at by directors. STOP with all the hate on Taylor. If you want Lea to get the part, fine by me. Just don't point out taylor's flaws for it!
I hate how all these 'Gleeks' or obsessive Glee fans are all attacking Taylor because they want Lea to get the part. Just because she's on Glee, doesn't mean she's going to be the best suited for this role. Also, I have noticed that a lot of people are pointing out Lea's performance of 'On My Own' (which was obviously recorded in a recording studio) and comparing it to Taylor's live performances. Obviously Lea's recording is going to be better than Taylor's live voice.

I really agree with you that Lea has an amazing voice both live and recorded, but I just get this feeling that people only want her to get the part because she's on Glee. I think they made an alright choice with Hugh Jackman, but Valjean just isn't Valjean without Alfie Boe.
And Taylor Swift is a stupid choice.. I like her songs, but Eponine needs a strong voice, and she just doesn't have it. MAYBE as Cosette. Maybe.

I saw her during her Fearless Tour and at the 2011 CMA Awards and thought she sounded great. I don't think she will struggle with singing "On My Own" if she gets the part. She does have plenty of singing experience unlike Pierce Brosnan, who never sang a note in his life and did a poor job of singing in 'Mamma Mia'.

@xxxmissblondzyxxx i totally get what you mean! lea is the only singer there, and she's been in les mis before, but when she sings it becomes a soloist performing, not a gig in love with a boy who loves someone else. she is too self centered in her performances, which kinda kills the character, but no one else has had as much experience.

I suggest neither Lea or Taylor. Taylor's voice isn't strong enough. Lea just doesn't appeal to me as Eponine. Plus, I can't imagine Taylor as a brunette, much less a girl living on the streets.

Also, has anyone noticed that Taylor moves around a lot on stage when she performs on tour but still sounds amazing? People who are saying 'she's just not suited for a musical' well she obviously is since she dances and moves around whilst singing on stage every night which is basically what you do in a musical as well as acting which she is known to be good at by directors. STOP with all the hate on Taylor. If you want Lea to get the part, fine by me. Just don't point out taylor's flaws for it!

I hate how all these 'Gleeks' or obsessive Glee fans are all attacking Taylor because they want Lea to get the part. Just because she's on Glee, doesn't mean she's going to be the best suited for this role. Also, I have noticed that a lot of people are pointing out Lea's performance of 'On My Own' (which was obviously recorded in a recording studio) and comparing it to Taylor's live performances. Obviously Lea's recording is going to be better than Taylor's live voice.

I really agree with you that Lea has an amazing voice both live and recorded, but I just get this feeling that people only want her to get the part because she's on Glee. Taylor never got the chance to express herself in this way and I think everyone should give her a chance. And I think you guys forget that only god knows how many times they practise what they put on Glee @KmiluvVD. You can't say that she put's practise into her SNL videos but Lea doesn't practise her Glee lines a lot.

In white horse, I wasn't talking about her lying next to a guy, I was talking about the other parts where her acting was superb. The crying and all other parts which is hard to pull off when you're a naturally bubbly character.

@hicky0000 I agree that maybe she should start off a bit smaller, but maybe she thought CSI could be a start. A lot of people thought she was really good in CSI so maybe she wanted to aim higher. I don't know but I just think this is a good opportunity for her. If she doesn't get the part, she'll realise that she needs to take baby steps, but if she does get the part, it'll all be worthwhile.

I like Evan for Éponine, but only because Lea Michelle bugs me lately... and honestly with Hathaway playing Fantine, Michelle seems a better fit for Cosette than Éponine. This is such a big role, such a big movie, that she shouldn't be in the running. She did one acting thing, and it was only a small part.
