My family is 100% garifuna, and even though I'm not in touch with my garifuna roots like I should be Im proud of my culture, and seeing this video was pretty disrespectful because when I was a kid my dad used to have the Garifuna Kids play in clubs in LA, and I remember clearly enjoying the music

i believe youre forgetting that Garifunas roots are Honduras' roots. The garifuna language itself has Honduran Origion' from the native peoples that were there and combined the rhythms and languages of afro caribeans and native Honduran tribes. The essence of this music is Honduran to the core. Its not a racial thing its a cultural thing and anyone with Honduran culture should be proud to call this music theirs.

If I remember correctly the band is from New York and made up of kids whose parents came from Belize, Honduras and Guatemala. I would assume one of the members is Garifuna or you wouldnt have the Gari singing. Im just glad to see it posted, its bringing back fond memories of my time in Honduras.

This is not what I was expecting, I am very dissappointed and this is not funny. My Garifuna Folks are just now starting to get their just due for their hard work in the past century. Please Garifuna is Garifuna. Punta is not Belizean, Honduran, Guatemalan nor any other country that want to jump on our bandwagon music. Punta is Garifuna Music.If you ask most of the Latinos tryng to claim our music, what Garifuna is, most of them would not know.We are glad to share it dont just take it as yours

this has been going on a lot lately, and it's really starting to upset me, because this is not their music,and the idea of any one just taking it is very sad. it seems like the minute garifuna music got popular it's like everyone wants a piece of it. and the way they dance to is unbelievable because they don't know how to do it.

@buckypastor i agree i'm a latino and love Punta and have respect for the Garifuna culture . when i hear one country or group of people try to claim it i always tell them not to forget that Punta is originaly a garifuna art form and to respect the roots of it .

My family is 100% garifuna, and even though I'm not in touch with my garifuna roots like I should be Im proud of my culture, and seeing this video was pretty disrespectful because when I was a kid my dad used to have the Garifuna Kids play in clubs in LA, and I remember clearly enjoying the music

@buckypastor this guys are born in guatemala or honduras, but in their blood they have garifuna and they speak the language they claim the country that they were born but they are damnn proud of being garifunas, and as a guatemalan i don't claim this music but im proud of growing up with this music, and proud that guatemala accepted this people we are not like stupid americans that look down on black ppl because so and so. we are damn proud of this people. la puta esta en nuestra sangre!!!!!!

i believe youre forgetting that Garifunas roots are Honduras' roots. The garifuna language itself has Honduran Origion' from the native peoples that were there and combined the rhythms and languages of afro caribeans and native Honduran tribes. The essence of this music is Honduran to the core. Its not a racial thing its a cultural thing and anyone with Honduran culture should be proud to call this music theirs.

Mythicalmoo, Yeah their parents are from Honduras, Belize, and Guatemala. But they were all Garifuna. There is no way those in this video are Garifuna Kids. My problem is why take the song of an all Black group and not put them on the screen, but instead put Indios???? Why????

If I remember correctly the band is from New York and made up of kids whose parents came from Belize, Honduras and Guatemala. I would assume one of the members is Garifuna or you wouldnt have the Gari singing. Im just glad to see it posted, its bringing back fond memories of my time in Honduras.

Blackwolvie is right this group here are INDIOS (Indians), not Garifuna. This group is not Garifuna Kids, that is jacked up , Indios are stealing the song from another Garifuna group just like they did with Sopa de Caracol. Punta is Garifuna; not Honduras, Guatemalan or Belizean culture.
