Shantaram is a decent book. Nothing great. The philosophy starts to grate. The romance with poverty and the mafia gets a little boring. The characters turn into caricatures that help the story move along. Prabhakar has to be nice all the time, Karla is part hooker, part poet, part "girl needing to be loved" etc etc. But spare a thought for the man. To be put through an interview with a person with sub zero intelligence, I feel bad for him

Incredible. One example where the Book and the author are so transparent, an apparent continuation of one another.. i was delighted to see that for ONCE I wasnt lied to by the author.. Felt a thrill of reading someone's intimate personal diary ....think Daniel Craig would fit Shantaram's character better though!

Amitabh is perfect. Really challenging to do a role that has similarities to Khader Bhai and Amitabhs role in the movie Sarkar.

Jhonny is great, I am sure he felt the book Shantaram and has a feel into the character like most of us who read the book.

I am hoping that Nana Patekar gets a role in the movie. HE would be perfect!!! but I cannot figure out which character as of yet.

Vivek Oberoi would be awesome as one of the people in the slums.

Irfan Khan Would be great too.
