  • My choir is joining them in Dayton at the end of March. We're singing this, so I'm looking it up to see how we can improve.

  • I just saw this performed in Eugene, Oregon. Absolutely amazing. You have no idea how awesome it is live until you see/hear it.

  • @koopatroopaxo I was there on the mezzanine balcony of the Hult Center. It took all the self-restraint I had to avoid bursting out and singing the lyrics fortissimo.

  • that song reminds me of the first best rpg ^^

  • i wanna see play! now!

  • Best part of Play!

  • Zajebiste :)

  • I just watched Distant Worlds in Singapore .heheh One winged Angel was darn good .

  • what's with the WRONG Latin pronunciation??

  • Yea, I lol'ed when I heard it for the frist time.

  • How is it to fast??? its perfect

  • these guys are imaculate with all the other game themes they do, especially the Zelda theme, but for this one i have to go with the Black Mages!! Cause i love the guitars they add in(just my opinion.)

  • tere singing a bit to fast

  • i just came back from the symphony , and they didnt play any final fantasy . soooooo saaaaaad T _________ T

  • Why is this orchestration so meanigful? I'll tell you why. This game wasn't just a game it was a journey.....we all "lived" Cloud's emotions; from his happy childhood memories to his bitter anger towards Sephiroth for killing Aries. So when this final battle was fought this music filled it with an over powering madness. We all battled Sephiroth as if we were truly saving the planet....we all were filled with this rage to destroy this evil enity once and for all.

  • I somewhat disagree. i think that ff7 is amazing, but more for the cinematic elements. don't go responding that i "must not have gotten the story", because i did. i just think that ff8 and chrono cross(in my opinion the two greatest games of all time, chrono cross leading) had better plot development and stronger emotions flying around. chrono cross had some ridiculous characters, but they were optional, and (i will continue this in another comment.. damn 500 character limit!)

  • and (in continuation of my last comment) throughout chrono cross serge is obligated to continue his journey, but is crushed by a gripping fear of a vision coming true in which he kills his own best friend, smiles, then kills himself. throughout the game serge must push himself to complete a journey that he knows he will not survive. following this, (SPOILERS) serge and the entire party are killed halfway through the game, and he's reborn in the body of the main villain. (again, i'm not finished)

  • epic!

  • wait... those aren't the correct lyrics! well, either that or they just have a funny way of pronouncing them.

  • The tempo is a bit too fast, still nice though.

  • you shook hands with UEMATSU-SAMA??? YOU LUCKY GUY! i wouldn't wash my hands till doomsday!!!

  • I have one thing to say... it's too fast!!!! but... it's very good! nice job!

  • One word is being said wrong ,it's suposed to be "imanis"

  • love this song ^^

  • Dancing mad > One Winged Angel

  • The Extreme>Both.

  • Seymour Battle > All three.

    *runs*

  • Mambo de chocobo RULES them all

  • Whoa that is way too fast!

  • its good for the conductor to wear sephiroth's costume.

  • were and what is this place/concert....a concert just of video game toons is soooooo kool!!!...oh and are they also singing?

  • There is a choir at the back (1.25 ish)

  • limewire

  • Hey, I was there that day!!! :D

  • i love this song! SEPHIROTH IS SOO COOL!!!

  • one of the most important masterpiece of gaming music history. One thing I wish is that the chorus could have been more explosive with text and hence would enhance the drama.

  • @ardjoena I actually participated in the choir once in Stockholm and the piece is arranged in the way that the orchestra is supposed to play very expressive and forte, even during our parts, and it's really hard for the choir to get through. An idea would be to use a bigger choir with maybe 70< singers. And we also started rehearsing the songs about a week before the concert...they tend to focus on the orchestra.

  • @oODajmarNOo Did the female voices sing "Gloriosa, generosa" or "Haryuu no hanekata"? Both have been claimed to be the proper lyrics at 3:34.

  • Lol, I love this even more after kicking Sephiroths ass on Kingdom Hearts :P Amazing.

  • Half the people playing/singing probably don't know who Sephiroth is. More satisfaction to the gaming community I say.

  • Considering the orchestra is based off video game music entirely, I'm sure most of them are familiar. Besides, band geeks play video games!

  • A reasonable conclusion, but I'm sure there's a percentage(possibly a large one) that just plays the sheet music given to them. I mean, a job is a job, and as musicians they wouldn't turn down work if they didn't know where the music came from, nor is there a preference for gamers... if only there was. = )

  • anazing, incredible, one winged angel in symphony,

  • Is The Choir Actually Saying "Estuans Interius?"

  • It sounds like they're saying "Estuuns Interias"

  • Dancing Mad rules One Winged Angel. Kefka rules Sephiroth.

  • there both good. dancing mad is the scariest boss theme. one winged angel is the best revenge song.

  • lol sehpiroths theme

  • sephiroth would kick kelfca's ass. :)

  • @Dinnomicx

While I agree, Kefka still deserves his props. Sephiroth destroyed only a few cities. (Two by his hand, and another as side affect of his/Cloud's actions) and yet Kefka destroyed the entire world he inhabited leaving it all to be rebuilt.

  • The actual piece is this. THey played it like this, Recorded it and Made it a midi ( i think ) and put it on the game :D

  • its not "so" fast, just slightly... besides, there is no slow "One-Winged Angel"?

  • This is the correct speed.

  • this is not the AC version

    1.there is no guitar

    2. the lyrics are different

    and some other differences

  • Nah, it's not. Despite AC's guitar, there was also a bridge with a guitar/drum solo..

This is the Orchestral version that was released before AC was even done development.

  • It the original from the first game, no Guitar and the lyrics are in Latin =P

...And Sephiroth would cast up meteor at around 3:00 or so XD

  • If anyone was there (I was), do you remember that

guy that yelled "Tetris"? that was hilarious! XD

  • me and my fiance were there. we kept laughing about that guy.

  • that doesn't sound like the original choir not even like the one in the movie anyways i rather the rock version it makes my body shiver besides when they play the other version nobuo is always in the keyboard. he is the master

  • I wish I could go...

  • The Conductor is really into it!

  • fast forward

  • OMG... I was there... I only wish I had brought a camera, I did however have my mp3 player and I have the entire Symphony on CD... I loved the entire thing. I want another one to come... I wish I couldve met Yoko Shimomura at the one in Detroit.

  • sefferoth is here ruuuun oh boy we need cloud

  • Have listened a lot to the recorded orchestra version, and I must say this version was a breath of fresh air:D The tempo makes it sound really intense! And the conductor is doing a great job...THANK YOU for downloading this!

  • classic soundtrack but i feel it was a touch too fast here. it lost some of its ominous 'harhar ima cast supernova and watch you die slowly while you shit yourselves' feeling. bit slower and itd be fine. 4/5 for the song at least :)

  • So brutall!! it's so cool!! i love it!!

  • it sounds like their saying Et Tu, Interu. and not Es Tuans Interius

  • It's latin whatdya expect?

  • i expected the correct words to be sung instead of the wrong ones. It doesnt deliver the message "Burning Inside with violent anger" quite as accurately. In fact that single small part took me out of the song entirely.

  • lawl sounded better than sydney, and these people have skill so dont diss yo.

  • i seriously doubt you saw the production in sydney as noone has uploaded one winged angel from the sydney concert.

  • Dear gods they butchered that! None of it sounded right, music was too fast, lyrics were just stuffed. I went to the Concert in Sydney and when the orgstra here did the song it sounded perfect.

  • i agree, i went to see it on the 23rd in sydney, and this song sounded sweet.

  • Holy crap, were these guys all needing to go take a giant dump? They rushed the song so badly that it's almost a techno remix.

Choir lacked the umph needed to make this song rock.

    Overall a pretty shitty performance.

  • The only fault i could find was the lyrics sounded wrong.

  • Suck litterally...american can't play for nuts..

  • omg....horrid

  • DUMB VIOLINS GET OUTTA HERE!

  • they rally suck LET SQUARE ENIX AND NOBURO UEMATSU DO THE WORK

  • The Eminence Symphony's performance lacked the "UMPH" that makes this song as powerful as it is, PLAY!'s on the other hand did not. You can hear many times in Eminence's performance they had to quiet some instruments so that other ones could be heard, they did not have the proper balance to do the song correctly. Both performances are amazing no matter what though, its amazing to hear this "come to life"

  • how can anyone lie the eminence symphony's one better? I was at Play! and can tell you that this was one of the most fantastic things I've ever heard (and that's saying something as I'm into classical).

  • what about 'jingle bell effigies'? sounds like Beck lyrics...

  • They are playing slightly to fast

  • the music was

  • This was on Earthbound for snes first.

  • It was good... But the bad sound recording made it seem less organised.

  • this orchestra playing zelda dude its the best one look youtube/watch?v=A0Iy78XTDdE

  • i liked the one they performed in Singapore on 15/16 june 07 ... this one the chorus the tenors were too loud.. :(

  • That was good, but i liked better the Eminence Symphony.

  • I liked this version a lot better than the Eminence symphony. This video has low sound quality, but I find the choir with much more strength, and also the metallic instruments do a better job. Some things were done better by the Eminence symphony, but overall I prefer this one.

  • i hope i see it in tomorrow's concert!! xD

  • im going to see this in sydney next week.

  • Is going too fast. You can notice in the chorus speed. Anyway is a great performance.

  • is this the version they used in the game

  • Thats the correct tempo

  • For Those of you who love Play! and want to see it come to Atlanta i sent them an email asking if they'd play at the fox..they said to me tha i must encourage everyone i know to send mail to the Atlanta Symphony to play the music..so please people in Atlanta send them the message and get Play! to come to ATL!!!

<3 Nobuo! and it is a bit sped up

  • omg i wanna see it! but dad wont let me T_T stupid dad!

  • they sped it up too much!

  • This is the real tempo...

  • wtevr, i think its 2 fast!

  • im so happy they are coming here to sanjose in time for fanime con! and i got tickets to see them!

  • This was such an amazing show. I still have the program laying around somewhere.

I wish someone had a clip from either the Angela Aki stuff or Koji Kondo rocking solo on the piano.

  • umm..the conductor is in time with the ensemble. The conductor keeps everyone on the same time since many individuals don't count exactly the same..he also cues instruments and keeps dynamics standard in the ensemble

  • well whatever u guys can say, i can tell you this conductor knows his job... left hand is not supposed to be in tune since it is used to give orders to instrument players.

Anyway those that like final fantasy, why don t you just watch something else? are you masochistic or just retards that have time to lose?

  • seohiroth for president and his music should b the national anthem :D im not a terrorist

  • heh, I agree.

  • LMAO!

I agree but I think you'd be hard pressed getting your country to dump the current national anthem. I myself think the US can do MUCH better than "Hail to the Chief".

  • All the nerds go crazy when cloud walks out and crazy when sephiroth walks out LOL.

  • i think that this is a fantastic song, but it sounds so strange from a live recording, i like the normal one better (with the guitar ROK ON)

  • it sounds like someone hit the "fast foward" button too

  • zidanetrbal00042:

They aren't supposed to be, they show where the beats in each measure are, and cue the sets of instruments.

    ----

The choir's lyrics aren't completely right... Specifically the first and third verses. x.x'

  • Actually the lyrics are correct. They're singing the original lyrics from the game, not the lyrics from the version of "One Winged Angel" made for Advent Children.

  • i think conductor r very pointless i mean his hands rent even in tune with the music how does that do anything btw ff7 is the best game ever

  • lol dumb shit, the hands aren't supposed to be.

  • their not suppost to keep in tune with the music; they set the pace, and they give signals when certain instruments cut in.

  • What on earth is so amazing about this piece? Could someone please enlighten me? I don't mean the orchestra's performance but the piece itself...

  • Its Sephiroth's theme music. Te man that made a storm at his very presence. Come on now you tell me. Not to mention he is one of the greatest twisted minds of Square~Enix :P

  • well to correct square soft when he was created lol one of the best phyco rpg villain eeeeeevvvvvvveeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Ah, its a song from a series of RPGs called Final Fantasy. The song depicts one of the most popular supervillains in gaming history: Sephiroth.

  • Final Fantasy VII. It's right up there with the most famous songs of all times

  • fucking bitch! one word:sephirtoh. asshole! you think this piece isnt amazing? bitch! you know noting about music!

  • u=retard. this is the best boss music in any game ever.

    lrntodieinacarfirewithyourfamilysoyouarewipeoutyouasshat

  • The standing ovation after this piece lasted for what felt like several minutes. I don't know if the orchestra was just really pumped after seeing everyone's reaction or what, but when Arnie Roth turned to face them again and everyone realized they were gonna be playing it a second time, wow! They really went all out and the encore was just unbelievable. You could really tell everyone was giving it their all, and it just had that much more "oomph". The whole night was just unbelievable.

  • Great song but whoever says it is the best song ever is maistaken. Definitely one of the best theme songs if not the best theme song out there.

  • This is a cool song, but it is not the greatest piece of music like some FF fans declare. It isn't even orchestrated in the game. It is a synthesized orchestra. It is a cool song for a video game and a sign that games can eb artistic too, but far from the works of Beethoven and such.

  • too bad nubuo uematsu is resigned from square-enix

    He is legendary,

    so is this song

  • Ya I was there it was the most amazing 2 hours ever! Arnie Roth is great and the Orchestra was SO skilled! The Drummer and Pianist were UNSTOPPABLE!

  • I totally have that song memerized by heart. I LOVES IT

  • Damn... I wish they would come to the uk. ~_~ I would travel anywhere in the uk just to see them perform. *Le sigh*

  • this was great i love final fantasy music it is simply the best hehe i love you nobuo

  • lindo!

  • You terd-flakes! they pronouseced the lyrics correctly but the tone was just off!

  • You are so right. I'm mad about that..

  • they sped the tempo up too dammit

  • Always pleased to see and hear different versions of this score-Kinda hard to believe that Nobuo Uematsu was never formally trained to write for full orchestra, eh? I guess he's just a genius. XD

  • if someone could give me the notes to the chello solo at 2:15, id be grateful

  • omg... before I die I HAVE TO SEE ONE OF HIS LIVE CONCERTS!!! I MUST!!!!the performance was great but I can say the same for the choir but oh well... everything was great!

  • I'd die from a heart attack if I saw that live

  • The chorus did not sing it right. I've done this piece three times already, once for Dear Friends in Detroit, Play! in Detroit, and recently Play! in Toronto. Their pronouciations are off. Other than that they were good. Not blended too well. The guys stuck out, one guy in particular.

  • can you give me the notes for the chello solo at 2:15? thanks o master of music

  • The choir sung it right, for this was the original One Winged Angel, not the Advent one.

  • Umm about the choir singing wrong... what makes you think they didn't practice many times before getting to the stage, and whether or not Uematsu-san himself provided some direction.

  • where the hell do i get the original score for that? i'm trying to find it for my orchestra to play with the choir and the band.

  • go find a midi, and the lyrics and arrange the parts. Watch this clip a billion times if you want to get the correct notes for each instrument. Thats what i would do.

  • lol you'd have to pay Square-Enix if you wanted the full orchestra score-which would cost a fortune. ;) However, there is a free version that was modified for band in A minor. Just google One Winged Angel for Band.

  • and once you find out you definitely need to tell me too, because i've been looking for FFVII orchestral scores for a while but turned up with nothing, thanks.

  • This was an excellent performance. Too bad there's no video of the BattleField music, it was incredible as well.

  • you americans are so lucky. here in the uk we NEVER get any shows like this. its all that crappy hip hop shit.

  • Ok... just to clear things up... this is the original score because I know that as a fact and I am one of the musicians who played the original score. The only reason it may sound slightly different from the game or the movie is because it is synthed for the game and mixed down for the movie.

  • Anyways good piece, wished i couldve played it, the low brass part isnt that hard. I was like woah when the cellos almost sounded like an electric guitar. Anyways, good work. I wish to join an orchestra some day.

  • Um.. excuse me, But where did you get the original score? i'd like my orchestra to play it...

  • It's different from the original, but that's why we listen to it! :)

  • It's a slight insignificant change, big deal. That was welldone. I'd love to go to one of these concerts.

    ~Have a Nice Day

  • What you mean Instrumentation was good?

This is the original SE official scores version...

  • when i meany by instrumentation i meant that the sound was very good, and that you can realy feel the heaviness of the quarter notes in the beggining. Plus it sounded very much like the OWA in FF7:AC, well at least the beggining and 7/8 time was

  • The choir sang it wrong because i dont think a lot of them have heard FF songs. Although it was played faster, it was played in an acceptable range. Instrumentation was very good.

  • That must have been awsome

  • That was nice, but the lighting and projection screens threw it wayy off.

  • bler... they not so good... the rhythm is rushing... much prefer eminence's performance.

Here they are performing The Unsung War

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxNKE9UeRCE

  • this one's good too but i agree i prefer Eminence's performance

  • why on earth are they singin "estoo siferooo" instead of "Estuan interius"? The Chorus in Stockholm was way better than this

  • I would give my life to be there... Ech...

  • The choir seems to be mispronouncing the first line of the chorus section, "Estuans interius." During the "venni venni" verse, the choir was to high, as the actual track recording used the deeper baritone and bass choirmen.

  • I would of loved to of been to that!

  • ARGH YOU LUCKY BASTURD!

  • I sing along to that song anytime... it's always great to listen to. I can only imagine how good it feels to listen to it live.

♪ Veni, veni, venias; ne me mori facias ♪

    Gah, my favorite part!

  • OMFG I LOVE IT =D wow i love around 3:07 to 3:18 just amazing, makes me get goose bumps XD

  • ^ Same here lol

  • chills all over my body..

  • Hm. I wonder why they replaced Estuans Interius. Sounds a bit like the AC version.

  • I had to buy my tickets back in April to attend the concert on August 4, 2006.

  • wow! amazing

  • That was pretty good. I liked it.

  • do you have the chrono suite video? really wanna see/hear that again ^^
