This is a serious question.. how well does a regular chair do in sand? I've been assuming for months now that the beach is out of the question in a wheelchair...

Try a regular chair with a buddy. -- Or -- Maybe someone's tried wider tires for traction, like BMX or dune buggy tires, or just some that are wider than usual wheelchair tires? -- Might be something cool for some bike or motor shop? -- Roll on, y'all.

I built an adaptive surfboard in '83 that worked quite well,I have no pix or anything but I could tell you about it if you want.

I shaped it myself from a regular blank with an exagerated rounded swallow tail(to keep the legs centered while mounting the board)and really deep channels down the deck and handles in the front,with my legs strapped together so they would stay in the channels,after taking off,I would end up in the typical kneeboarding position and carve! I also had waterskiing gloves with duct tape making webbing across my 4 fingers,for extra thrust.(turns out I should have tried to patent that one.)
