  • 5 yard loss, big deal.

  • OMG HE CAME OUT OF THOSE TACKLES ON THE SIDELINE...I HAD TO COME SEE IF I COULD GET HIGHLIGHTS OF JOE WASHINGTON SINCE THIS COMMENTATOR KEEPS TRYING TO COMPARE FINCH TO HIM

  • If your name is not Joe Washington, never ever give ground or turn your back on a punt return.

  • i think the usc fans gave him a standing ovation as he trotted off the field...it was either that or they were giving the special teams unit a standing ovation for finally getting lil joe to the ground.

  • oh i forgot he also could punt. several times on 3rd and a mile deep into their own territory running the wishbone switzer would call a quick kick with lil joe. always seemed to work.

  • no ronnie lott played about 6 years later with usc. lott played in the late 70s early 80s at usc. this game was in 1973. ive followed ou and college football since 1973 and imo lil joe washington was ou best ever rb. the guy shouldve won both of archie griffins heismans.

joe washington is the original 3rd down back. many times with the redskins on 3rd and long lil joe would spell riggins and make something happen which led to longer drives and more scores. the guy could pass as well.

  • That's some good ball security haha

  • Was that # 42 that tackled him Roni Lott

  • lil joe was oklahomas best rb ever. this guy was not only a threat to score each time he touched the ball but he was also a decent passer and at times would punt (quick kick).

3 exact moment memories (non family) for me would be the moment i heard reagan was shot, the moment i heard john lennon was killed, and lil joe 71 yard td run against mizzou (1975) on a 4th and 1 trailing 27-20 with 5 minutes left in the game. i remember exactly where the radio was in the house as i listened to it live

  • WOW! That is the damnest thing I've ever seen in football. He literally got past everyone but the last man. Even his team mates stood their shocked. What a RB.

  • Those wondering why he ran backward and didn't go down does not know Joe Washington. He was one of those special players that you don't coach. You just tell him to do his thing.

  • The game ended in a 7-7 tie.

  • why dident he go down?

  • Hey ya nitwits, did you notice after he had juked the entire defense that even his blockers were watching?

That's right, had they blocked instead being dumbfounded Joe would have gotten by that last tackler. You goobers would be so lucky to make such an effort.

  • yo that was beast but i still LOve BArry sanders

  • WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF............Dat waz amazing

  • Look man lose, win or draw I want him runnin' the football.

  • that seemed a little counter productive.

  • i dont care if he lost three yards that was one of the best punts returns ever.

  • Great run... but he lost three yards?

  • wat are you mad because you get run like that?

  • he gained one yard

  • It's called "trying to make something happen" in a game that ended up tied.

    Don't be a hater "Dad."

  • Oh man if that ended up to be a touchdown..

  • i dont understand why he actuall went backwards b4 any1 was there.

  • Couple of Oklahoma players had similar luck, Joe really could have come away with one of those had he not had the bad fortune of being there at the same time as Archie, and the '77 season of Terry Miller at OSU was Heisman-worthy, he just had to be a senior the same year as that Campbell guy in Austin, unfortunately.

  • i luv texes bitch

  • It's spelled Texas, dumbass.

  • No its spelled texass!

  • at the beggining i was thinking that it would be a saftey or sumthan

    Boy was i wrong

  • BOOMER SOONER TEXAS SUCKS!!!!!!

  • I saw Joe Washington Jr play in high school. I am glad that his unique talent and skills are still being remembered.

  • that was sickkkkk

    oh yeah fuck usc UCLA!

  • Little Joe was THE most amazing sooner of all time and that's saying a lot cause there are lots of great sooners!

  • better than archie and adrian, nooo way. jk. i dont kno shit bout ou, well not the sooners.

What do you call an oregon and clemson fan. tigerian mallard. idk. im bored.haha

  • GOOD EFFORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I got his autograph at the bedlam game, nicest guy you'll ever meet

  • I did too. he was . same for the selmon brothers

  • Was this the last time USC had a relevant program before 2002?

  • this should be the all time punt return no matter how short, in the history of football. i'm an okie born and raised and i love my SOONERS. 7 time national champions!

  • Holy Shit! Why have I never seen that play before? I don't care if he did end up losing yardage, that's one of the greatest athletic plays I've ever seen. Thanks for posting it.

  • beast. im a trojans fan, but this was sick.I bet nobody there cared if he lost 5 yards or not!

  • Reggie Bush wishing he could do that...GO lil Joe!!!

  • HAHAHA this is the funnniest thing i ever saw. lol

  • You people need to shut the hell up it was a great effort.

  • Little Joe...The Legend. I get misty seeing him do that.

  • he lost 5 yards, you can see he catches the ball at the 50 and only gets back to the 45. But ridiculously pretty nonetheless

  • That was great, but am I wrong in saying he still lost 5 yards on that return?

  • The play happened right before halftime. Switzer called him over before the punt return and told him to go nuts. If he catches one more black, he might've been gone.

  • LOL SOO NICe. But what was he doing going that back. If he did that without going back, it might have been a touhdown.

  • HOLY SHIT

  • True beauty, Boomer Sooner

  • That's awesome! It brings tears to my eyes!
