I think this year our leafs are in a rebuild state, trying to get all the players that they need and the skills they are looking for, and seeing what player plays with what players better, and they have the monster in net and next year he will be on fire, but hopefully his heart doesn't mess that up. it was a bad trade, you give 2 firsts and a second for ilya kovalchuk type player, not kessel. Kessel is an amazing player, but hes a player you add once you have that franchise forward already on your roster. Have you seen taylor hall play ? i get to see every home game the spits play and he is just a beast. there is always the argument that hall still has to play in the nhl, while kessel is proven... I still would take my chances on picking up taylor hall and another prospect in 2011 draft.

Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin are the current favourites to go #1 in the coming draft. Put either of these guys in Kessel's draft class and they go 7th or 8th around where Okposo and Mueller were, well behind Kessel. Yeah, I think trading even the #1 pick is worth it to get someone better than anyone in the draft. And he's not much older, only 2-3 years ahead of the kids in the coming draft, still a lot of productivity left in him.
