  • Beautiful! Just beautiful!

  • Those adorable little phrases...Mozart lives on!

  • hahaha the conductor looks like bob barker from price is right oh question for u mozart fans i don't listen to much whats the name of the one that cineplax theatre use to play

  • She has a way with Mozart!

  • Ugly old men play better...no, really it sounds beautiful to me...glad I don't know more about the 100's of recordings of it or else I'd get confused...and turn into The Protector of Music

  • Listening to (and watching) a performance by Janine Jansen is always a pleasure, but the young musicians who make up the orchestra are excellent, too.

  • She would have looked better in a different color dress. Nonetheless I like her performance.

  • @gecmartins I sort of agree with you about the dress. I say "sort of" because as good as JJ is, she could be wearing a burlap sack and it would not bother me. Her playing takes me to a world far, far away from anything that even remotely resembles earth! ;)

  • @technocrash09

I am very fond of her talent as well =)

  • 8:15 is where the Cadenza is... or where it should be - rather small cadenza in my opinion, but a cadenza can be anything.

  • This music is really superb, it touches sould and mind , only a genius like Mozart could have written it.

  • @SolracNaitsab maybe, he was a proven musical genius - maybe the greatest ever, and was well known as a child prodigy musically as well... with over 600 of his works alive, we can only wish he lived longer than 35... i'm not a mozart scholar, but i wonder if he had peaked musically well before his death? there are two main ways of creating art, CONCEPTUALLY and EXPERIMENTALLY... some do both, some are extremely one or the other... the experimentalists do their best work in later life...

  • @glorp896 I've noticed whenever you see a documentary about classical composers each expert claims that a particular composer has the edge over all others. However I ask :was Mozart a greater genius than Beethhoven. Was Bach a greater genius composer then Mozart and Beethhoven?! In my opinion they were all great composers, they were all geniuses. It's about time we rid ourselves of puerile arguments of who was the best or greatest..

  • @DrMontague i've noticed that whenever i might have the empirical quantitative edge on some debate (as merely an errand boy of other's field research) there will be puerile dismissals of said data, like basic observational science is in any way disputable even despite massive repeated studies and independently verifiable evidence... mozart is such a case... many accounts of his memory, playing by ear and dynamic mastery of music is unchallenged, but of course music is more subjective/esthetic

  • @glorp896 The same can be said of Beethoven, he would simply blow people away with improvisations etc. They were all brilliant composers and geniuses however there is some Mozart and Beethoven I cannot stand. We don't have to like everthing a great composer composed.

  • @DrMontague so funny of you to say they were the same in some regard, a link i found lists them both as 165 IQ, well beyond genius... i'll send it to you... of course this is just an estimate, and maybe even simply glossed over as one is as good as the other?

  • @DrMontague cliff burton said BACH IS GOD... so there you are, another musical "expert" claiming a favorite... and i guess relative to Beethoven's hearing problems his challenge to create music as such was one mozart didn't have... but thats like a great wheel chair marathoner isn't it? or i should say a great midget marathoner? prosthetic device marathoner... oh damn, my metaphors and analogies aren't working today...

    - you can gauge musical response on brain waves and quantify its effect

  • Lucky youth orchestra.

  • amazing! :D

  • I love all the whole concerto!! Thousands of thanks to all who performed. I love you all!

  • Poetry of the air.

  • That's pathetic how people can argue whether Jansen interpretation is better or worse than anyone else. Get over it, she is great just like many others violinists around the world. It's not like we have only one or two great violinist in this world, but there are hundreds violinists as good as Jansen. Don't be so snobish with your comments, if you are playing a Mozart concerto that means that you have enough skill to play it, end of story. And well done Jansen! She is sexy too, so what?

  • she just likes music

  • It's like her body is an instrument.

  • Her mind is

  • there´s no instrument. she´s just pure spirit!

  • In that case, I'd like to be a consultant for potential fingerings on that instrument.

  • :O I LOOOOOVVEEEEEE this :D

  • how nice...

  • waarom is zij zzoooo geweldig?!

  • This most surely must be The Voice of God!

  • Not less than that.

  • @Rahetor2 the near death experiences account of the heavenly music is that it is far more beautiful than the most beautifully imagined earthly music... a soul piercing delight of unimaginable proportion... so no, this isn't even close to THE VOICE OF GOD, as it would be singing its siren song of perfection.... we just try to be heavenly, we fail, we are trapped and limited... DEATH AWAKENS US AND ENHANCES US MANY TIMES OVER... just hope you don't have this experience in hell

  • @glorp896 Awe, hearing angels sing is truly other worldly and words do injustice to the beauty, no human music touchs this splendor.

  • @PaulaKev1 so you've had a near death experience?

  • @glorp896 NO, I did not have a near death experience.........but assure you I heard the angels sing. IT WAS a gift from our dear Lord at a time when I was very low indeed.

  • @PaulaKev1 mozart is the best i've heard, he surely got a job composing the orchestrated work of angels in heaven by now... i can see why mozart would be a reason to live for some, even if only as a spectator...

  • @Rahetor2 madure!!!

  • Hay una frase de este concierto que siempre resonorá en mi mente, como si las fibras de mi alma fueran las cuerdas de ese violín.

  • I have listened to Janine Jansen, Maxim Vengerov and Gidon Kremer playing the same concerto, and I decidedly prefer Janine's interpretation here. Just my preference.

  • @peanutbabe83 If you want, you can also hear the recording I posted on my channel by Heifetz. I won't make any comparisons between him and anybody else but if you are curious, I encourage you to seek it out.

    watch?v=i-kg-q52ff8

  • @aimson ok will do that. thx

  • tsechysch republik supr, music,,,

  • magnifique!!quelle violoniste extraordinnaire et quelle passion!!bravo

  • Bravo! That was outstanding, purely beautiful music =D

  • She is Mozart please i beg you to follow this path. It's important!

  • She is beyond astounding!!!!!!!!!

  • Whom ever produced this lives in a world that we should all live in.

  • that was amazing...for a better sound quality

    watch this one watch?v=caVr-VdeDvw

  • yea that passage is especially beautiful

  • 4:20 - 5:10 is the most beautiful segment of all. Actually the most beautiful piece of music ever played on this earth. It can turn the most evil person to an angel for those few seconds.

It gives me shiver up my spine to my head.

  • this is real music

  • whats wrong with appreciating the sensuality of both pieces ;)

  • Brava!

  • Thank you 52sara52. Well said. One addition... true passion cannot be taught; the musician either has it or not. Janine's interpretation is organic. Truly an artist! The stodgy critics condemned the ultra talented composer of this piece too. I'm glad this performance was captured and now shared.

  • [cont... ]However, I believe she is one of the most interesting musicians of our generation and is underrated due to her image and playing mannerisms. Much more interesting than most of the american schooled (curtis --> juilliard --> soloist progression...) young violinists who all play with technical perfection and power, yet with nothing very special in musical terms.

  • very sexy :))

  • very erotic

  • very funny

  • Mozart was a cheeky monkey.

  • WOW! Wonderful piece! Thanks for posting it. Help a lot in relieving my stress.

  • I think anyone who criticizes this playing in any way should play this concerto themselves and then put their own video on youtube. I'm not trying to be judgemental, but if you can't compare to Janine, there is no right for you to criticize.

  • well.. don't wanna get involved in ur debate, but, if a violinist is lent a stradivari by the owner, either he/she is considered excellent, or distinguished. Or am i wrong, onionpizza? and, as far as my aunt told me, this girl is using Antonio Stradivari, Cremona 1727, "Barrere". I was luck, my aunt gave me ticket, prom nights 2005, to see this girl playing. GBU

  • Do not like her

  • it's an allright interpretation - nothing to write home about

  • I've asked this question before -who in your opinion gives an excellent interpretation of this piece? because I would love to compare.

  • I can think of at least eight people off the top of my head. If I wrote the names there would be more. But you're in love with this woman so it won't do you (or me) any good discussing this here. She's not a talented player. Not great, not horrible. She's ok.

  • That's just tongue in cheek stuff. To me I'm more interested in music. For example I have a dvd of the violinist Gidon Kremer playing this same concerto. It is a studio version without an audience. The dvd in cover goes on about interpretation, period playing , intruments used at the time etc. I've listened to both concertos but I still find myself favouring Janine Jansen interpretation.

  • Violinists from earlier decades in my opinion sometimes play too formally, everything seems regimented, or played with a 'stiff upper lip' type attitude. Which probably reflects their own times e.g. breakfast, dinner, tea and supper had precise times. Other aspects such as dress were adhered to. I think Vengerov and Janine Jansen interpretations reflect our times in which set meals times and dress etc are much less formal and more liberal in attitude.

  • So I am without bias i would still like to know if you can give the name of a violinist who you think does what you considerer an excellent interpretation of this piece. I'm not trying to undermine you or score brownie points but I always check out recommendations, I will give you my honest opinion. I'm not in a battle as music is a subjective medium.

  • I would check Arthur Grumiaux playing this. If it's about Mozart, there's no one who can beat him.

  • @DrMontague

    Pinkus Sztaiberg.

I'd like this version the best for the Mozart 5th violin concerto, far better than this woman's. I don't think it is in youtube though, all I have is a cassette tape, the conductor is Karl Munster.

  • @camilocuesta "this woman's"??????????? I beg your pardon, that is an absolutely inappropriate way to acknowledge a virtuoso like Janine Jansen! Whether or not you prefer her music to others is irrelevant.

  • Yes, Richter definitely conveyed that.

  • @DrMontague I have dinner every night @ 6:15. Does this mean I have a 'stiff upper lip' :-)

  • @123tchaikovsky Yankee TV dinners don't apply!

  • onionpizza, you have a strange idea of what talent is. Whatever you may think of this lady's interpretation i think you're wrong to say she's not a talented player.

  • Excellent piece, I found free sheet music for it on SheetMusicFox DOT com and absolutely love it!

  • Genuinely LOVELY performance of this opera for violin! I think she's great!

  • this wasnt emotional enough for me

  • i dont like her :/

  • i love her playing very much for some reason. i love the way that girls handle their strings, it sounds more sweet, natural and peaceful.

  • Manera muy fresca de tocar Mozart... Gracias.

  • Funny what people say! It is rare that violinists at all levels do what she does. e.g. so aware of harmonic direction, beautiful & informed use of vibrato, knowledge of stylistic issues, wonderful & appropriate use of colour. And for god's sake, the orchestra is very good. Better than a good handful of pro ones.

  • She is often on radio 4 here in England. This station doesn't deal in crap.

  • I'm English. I think you're talking about Radio 3. If you want crap then listen to Benedetti as much as you like on Classic FM ;)

  • your right I meant radio 3. A Freudian slip in writing, is this possible?

  • Horrible! she moves as if she was having a seizure and jerks all the notes.

  • finally some one said it!

  • She is a truly exceptional violinist who gives genuine and fresh interpretations of the standard repertoire. She has unusual technique... very Dutch! high shoulder, raising the wrist at the heel, holding the violin in front of the body etc. She also probably moves around too much and this is very distracting (as proven from many comments). This is a shame as it is off-putting and many people do not take her seriously.

  • I do agree with angelia81. I don't like this kind playing. Is it really playing?

  • Janine I think you are a woman (more than an Artist).

And Ashkenazy is (or was?) a far better pianist than conductor.

  • I recommend it. It has a slight edge over Janine Jansen performance but this is due to the fact that Gidon Kremer (Violinist)is backed by truely professional musicians not a 'youth orchesta', the recording is done without an audience being present, and the sound is excellently re-enginneered. Therefore it's difficult to make a true comparison with Janine Jansen's version that has been recorded off tv and then turned into a fliv file on Utube.

  • I'm playing this piece right now and she does it very nicely. The thing I like about her playing is how she ends a phrase of the music, and it's hard not to notice the emotion she puts into her music if the music is happy she is, it's pretty cool.

  • I have another version of this concerto that I bought on DVD. The DVD is called:

Wolfgang Amedius Mozart, Violin Concertos 1-5

    Sinfonia Concertante

    Gidon Kremer: Violin

    Kim Kashkashan:viola

    Conductor: Nikolaus Harnoncourt

It has a wonderful sound quality (5.1 DTS Surround sound).

  • ah I thought u meant overall .obviously music is subjective medium - who in your opinion gives a excellent performance of this concerto?

  • The poor kids in the orchestra have got nothing to do with that, we are talking about the soloist!!

  • Remember they r a youth orchestra and r there honing

    there skills.

  • horribly fast

  • I really do wonder sometimes where is this world going, if such violin playing is idolized and admired. Good luck to you all.

  • your not grasping what I'm getting at. This is not a porn site. If u want porn go to porn sites and talk crude I don't have a prob with that.

  • I pity you...I really do. Intellect is far from this all.

  • Janine I think your a very neat woman... D'OH!

  • I will remove crude sexual remarks and insulting comments. so don't waste your time composing them.

Only intellectual comments about the mucic and nice complements about her will be allowed, such as

Janine I think your a very pretty woman
