the reason why most marching bands do not allow trombones is the misconseption that a marching baritone is much better than a trombone. The reasoning is that people believe A. its louder and fuller. Wrong. It depends on the player. B. they believe a slide is bad on a field because you cannot hit right notes. Also incorrect. An experienced player can hit the spot always correctly. so these two reasons are why trombones are not allowed in bands.

My band director most likely knows all this. He marched and was the drum major of North Penn Highschool (really HS MB near us) which has trumbones. I'm not too sure what he marched after that but I'm pretty sure he has other reasons than that because we have some really good trombone players in our band

This year the basses roll during executioner. In the break when the trombones do the slow-mo, they roll over on their basses and keep playing on their heads. It's pretty awesome. I'm going to try to get a video of it pretty soon.

yeah we do that at our drumline preformances...cymbal stacks are pretty cool too...we have cymbals ride on the backs of bass drummers shoulders and play

Wow, this was really good! We attempted suicide (oops, pun.) my freshman year at a playoff game. It was okay for being on the spot without practice. It's my senior year now and we have one (maybe two) football games left and I'm really hoping to be able to get the section together to do this.

our school has (sort of) been doing this for years. we do 180 spins the whole time, and speed up at certain points in the song.

i'm surprised at how many videos i see of attempted headchops(what we call them). its painful to watch.
