  • lol your expensive tires fucked your expensive paint up

  • Is this exhaust really loud? do you like them?

  • @ItalianStallionLouie Yeah, it's loud. you have to really crank the radio to hear it over the rumble of the engine. I think they sound great, though. They're really throaty, with a little bit of a "pop' to them. I'm currently re-restoring the car and im going to set it up with two sets of electronic cutouts so i can have a quiet setting, a more throaty tone, and one that just dumps it. This thing sounds MEAN with straight pipes.

  • @66mustang302 Ahhhh sounds like you got a lot of great future for this thing!

Have you ever run them to the tail pipes? and what size are yours? I want to try and run them to tail pipes because in Australia laws are tough but I need them to be quiet...ish.

  • @ItalianStallionLouie What do you mean? Have I ever run the purple hornies to the tail pipes? Yeah, that's how they are in this video. They're the 2.5in mufflers, and I had an exhaust shop weld some custom pipes onto the ends, with an H-pipe in the middle. I don't know how strict the laws in Australia are, but I'm surprised that cops in the states have never even mentioned noise when I've been pulled over for other things.

  • 4 stars Clip

  • It sounds good, I can't help but think that you should have dropped in a 351, 390, or 460 though, bigger is always better when it comes to pony cars. (= That motor looks nice and built though so I'm guessing it still moves down the road just fine.

  • @RidX4Ricers idk, a 460 weighs a good bit more than a 302. I actually considered putting a 351 in, but if I remember correctly, I found something saying a fuel injected 351 has hood clearance problems on these mustangs. I ended up using a carb anyway, haha.

The motor is ok. it has stock heads, and shit ones at that, but everything else is in place for a pair of good aftermarkets to wake it up.

...the 2.79 gears in the rear end are what is really holding this car back right now. : (

  • @66mustang302 I'd get some lower gears for sure asap.

  • how ironic, I now have a purple hornie myself!!

  • THAT CAR IS VERY NICE O.O

  • my 66 is a 6 cylinder converted to v8 car. had the driving components from my first one, and converted them to the 6cylinder body, that is rust free, and the car sits at a nice low stance, just like that. my uncle has a 65 and that car is high compared to mine. but very nice, did the work with the help of my uncle.

  • opening song was very appropriate, mistress

  • that thing runs so sweet!

  • Nice mustang by the way. Thanks for information i am gonna have to find a shop cause i am not that experienced with swaps.

  • Aye wussup i got a 66 inline 6 how much would it cost to swap it intirely to a 302

  • @562bossup

I would say around $200 for the steering components. I found an original front disc brake setup with the spindles for $500 on ebay, and a junk yard 8" rear end for $250 after I replaced the bearings and seals. you're probably going to spend anywhere from $1000-1500 plus your engine/transmission

  • @562bossup @562bossup

I've stared to do a 302 swap for my I6 in my '65, and it is very costly, you need to do one thing at a time, start out with converting it to a 5 lug by changing out the front spindles (you should probably do discs in front) and the rear axle. Your suspension and engine bay supports should be next. Those are most of the prerequisites that can be done one at a time before you do the conversion of the 302.

  • what kind of rims are those?

  • awesome paint - hey, check out my 1968 SHELBY GT500KR videos, its one of 4, ORIGINAL ORANGE!!!... please rate and comment bro...

  • whats the paint you used for the car?

  • @joeycr88 it's GM Storm Gray

  • BTW, what is the song in the intro ?

  • damn that engine is exactly what i'm building for a ford ranger. could you guess on how many FT/LB'S it makes

  • i would estimate around 300-320. my biggest bottleneck right now are the heads. right now i have a 86 truck casting with 76 cc chambers, but i have some heads off of a 73 Torino (i think) with 58.5 cc chambers and a bit better flow characteristics. if you use better heads than the ones i have on it now (not necessarily aftermarket) you should have no problem making 350 ft/lbs or more.

  • Throttle response is amazing.

What paint did you use on your valve covers?? Im having a hard time finding the dark Ford blue.

  • The color is called "Ford Corporate Blue". I think I got it at pep boys. It was just a 500 degree engine paint.

  • Thanks for the reply. How is the 500* paint holding up?

Also, what make of carb did you go with? I cant tell for sure.

  • its holding up surprisingly well on the valve covers and block, but it has peeled a little on the timing cover.

the carb is an edelbrock 600, but i will soon be upgrading to efi. i havent had too much luck with the edelbrock...

  • Yeah the timing cover is cast aluminum. Hard to get paint to stick.

Looks like I will be sticking with Holley carbs. Im not a big fan of Eddy's carbs.

Thanks for the replys, have a good one.

  • @papabugs71 try pianting it then bake it in your oven four about 20 minutes n the paint will stick

  • go with holly iv'e got a 302 came stock efi a bunch of junk btw sweet car

  • whats the song

  • sounded like a song by disturbed. dont know which one and i cud be wrong

  • Awesome! Sounds like the 66 Shelby Cobra!

  • What style of purple hornie are you using? Are the mufflers hooked up the the header then to the H-pipe or the other way around. The reason why i'm asking is because I thought the hornies are suppose to be hooked directly up to the header, so i just want to see where the H pipe is! BTW amazing sounding car!!!

  • i used the p/n 50231 from jegs, but i had to modify them. im using hedman hedders with a ball type flange and that didn't work with the purple hornies, so i cut the flange and curve off of them and welded them in after the h-pipe on my system.

  • most beautiful sound i have ever heard

  • Oh, and what size tires are those in the back? I am hoping to fit a 245 or 235 tire on my 66 and i was wondering because yours looks like a 235.

  • its funny that you would ask that, i just changed the rear tires and wheels today because of a clearance issue. i had 15x8.5 wheels with a 255/60r15, but they scraped the fenders anytime i hit a bump or truned onto an uneven surface. i switched to a 15x7 wheel with a 225/70r15 and i havent noticed any issues yet. a 235 should fit fine as long as you get wheels with the right backspacing, but i would think a 245 would require at least a minor fender flare.

  • I have seen this car on another site. This is a very nice looking stang, and it is an inspiration for mine. Did you happen to get those emblems at dallas mustang because i have the same ones. Haha, this car in those downtown pics is my background on my pc.

  • yea, the emblems are from dallas mustang, i used them and NPD for the restoration. what other site did you see my car on? i have a friend that took some semi-profellional shots of it last summer, but i didnt think he up loaded them anywhere.

  • hey how much are purple hornies anyway? i want to get a pair

  • i have pretty much the same exact set up except for the cam and im bored .60 over.

do you have any idea the horsepower?

  • close to 300, maybe a little more. for yours, it really depends on what heads you have. this engine came out of the junk yard from an 86 f150, so it has large combustion chambers (76cc i think), but i have a set of heart shaped heads off of a 75 torino whic have 58.5 cc chambers. they should flow better, and bumb my compression up a bit.

anyway, i only have 2.79 gears in the rearend right now, but it'll woop a stock 05 gt's ass, so its making decent power

  • haha mine came off a 85 f150

were running about the same exact setup and our cams are pretty close too

ive been thinkin about saving up and buying some trick flow heads

  • Nice one dude.. I bolted hornies to my 66 stang but here in NM we dont have sound ordinance so they are bolted to the headers lol..

  • nice mustang im getting the exhaust on mine today ill put a video up so you can check it out later

  • what color is that?

  • GM Storm Gray

    English Color PN: 5407

  • Thats a sweet mustang u got.... the purple hornies sound great on ur car... I used to be all flowmaster but Flowtech is really startin to impress me... I have tried Both of their gass packs on my 72 Ford Ranchero and i have their terminator exhaust on my truck

  • SWEET

  • man i bet a lotta people would do crazy things jus to have this kinda car an i love mustangs ....sweet car man

  • purple hornies could make a geo metro sound like a muscle car there awsome you should here my camaro with purple hornies

  • im building the same roller type motor for my 65. Did you go from the waterpump to the alt with the serp belt with the stock alt. bracket. Also did you convert to duraspark and use a 85 mustang distributor. let me know thanks.

  • yea, the brackets are all stock, but i do have a bracket and tensioner off of a 92 mercury grand marquis that i havent put on it yet. the distributor is a pertronix gm style hei, but theres nothing wrong with a duraspark.

  • damn that sounds awesome, tnat 302hp the cam and those purple hornies sound awesome together. im 14 and ive just got a stock 67 289 mustand i helped rebuild with red hot glasspacks. i got a video if u wanna see it

  • im sure yours sounds a ton better, asshole.

  • lets see your rig faggot

  • man nice car buddy sounds fuckin mean
