  • id be screeming at at it GIMMIE FUCKING LIGHTNING NOW!!!!

  • that kinda looks like a tornado just not touched down i think it was trying lol but yeah it didnt lol

  • that is not brisbane in australia australia doesnt have tornados

  • @jaypay777 lol tornadoes are everywhere in the world and are in australia. more than 10 a year but most go undetected and arent the ones like in america....they are very weak and only last a few seconds.

  • @eljayy91 True, they are in Australia and most go undetected. Although not all of them are weak and only last a few seconds, some get to f3, track for several kilometers and last many minutes; even in Australia (which has the 2nd most occurrences of tornadoes in the world).

  • That is not a fact. Canada, Argentina and Bangladesh all see more tornadoes than Australia.

  • Suspicious, but appears to be a tornado look alike. Good supercell

  • Not quite a tornado - if you're interested, the Bureau of Meteorology Australia has a page of info on it. It created a microburst over one of the Brisbane suburbs doing quite a bit of damage. This was an amazing storm :)

  • the guy's an uneducated fool!!, uh idiot, watch the clouds rotating, and tell me that it's not usual for clouds to do that....duh

  • she was rotating and yes there was atornado

  • Kid - Is it going to be a storm dad???

Dad - Its not going to be a storm...

Lol... We all know he aint no weather man!

  • cool ...very nice shelf cloud structure

  • when that came to me a i got scared it was big i never knew it was that bad i was on my trampoline and it started raining and lightening that the on that got me scared

  • One of those SuperCell storms that hit Brisbane came past my old home town which is inland it was a beautiful site caue I could see the side of it and how dark it was etc

  • wow that cool

  • "Just another storm"? fuck off, that was easily one of the most destructive storms to hit qld in the last 25 yrs..period.

  • lol "just another storm tony" that storm was origionally 2 supercells which later combined it was scary to look at on the radar we thought we were gonna get pummulled but the gap got f***ed in the ass by that thing it also looked like there was some rotation cuz i saw those 2 storms mature thru the whole day.... i was takin a swim wit my lil bro i looked to the south then got out cuz my dad sed that the bureau sed the storm was very dangerous

  • well that looks like super storm cell and the thing that created the storm glad i flew there to help out with my team of SES

  • thats the start of a twister u can c the start of a funel and clauds feeding in from boths sides, supercell storm

  • it spun like this in more than 6 places. all clockwise from what i could tell at the time lol. i wonder if that is normal... i have no idea. but still that's what i remember. i remember standing on top on a roof top carpark yelling at my sister to come inside the building just before it hit. it was huge! - and just a little scary

  • it's normal for a supercell to rotate, yes, but not your stock standard storm no.

  • is it normal for it to do so in many places around the cloud? (not just around one specific point - but around several)

  • Yup that's what it makes a storm a supercell. Because the whole thunderstorm is rotating. If the whole system is rotating, part of the storm where the winds are rotating the most start spinning even faster. That's when you see a wall cloud and a mesocyclone form, when you see cloud lowerings rotating around part of the storm where rain's not falling, there's a good chance of a tornado forming (usually on the northern edge).

I don't reckon this is a tornado but it's very close!

  • i was there for this and i don't remember seeing this part of the cloud or any tornado for that matter. it rained so much you couldn't see more than 10-20 meters (when it lightened off a little) there was hail too (pea size where i was but it got alot bigger elsewhere!) anyway i'm always going to take cover if i see could like that.

  • @budgiebreder

Take it from someone who was at The Gap & Ferny Hills at the time, it certainly did get a lot bigger than that. It was absolutely nuts. Our house in Ferny Hills got pummeled, and visibility was down to maybe 1-2 metres at one point - There was just so much wind, water and hail you couldn't see a thing.

  • there was so much rain where i was you couldn't see further than a few meters most of the time. small hail but ALOT OF RAIN. and watching another video (from the gap) it well it was nuts!

  • hes right that wasint a fucking storm

  • is that funnel cloud

  • if not, mabye possible wall cloud???? The one we had today was a cracker!!!!

  • no there was no twister there that day but wow it looks that way doesn't it. and from the way the clouds were swirling that day i'm amazed there wern't any. that sucker was swirling faster than the storm which hit dunoon not very long before this that produced tornadoes. i witnessed both storms and you couldn't get two more powerful storms yet both were different this one had alot more rain to it.

  • man my house got so fucked up i remember playing pc looked out my window and was like HOLY FUCK then about 10 minutes later my roov caved in LOL.....pur3ly pwn3d stupid fucking trees

  • wow where were you? i was right near where that guy died. not much hail there but an amazing amount of rain!

  • i loved how the damage just stopped at the east end of the Ashgrove golf course

  • Definite rotation in the clouds.

We nearly got that storm, just missed us ;o

  • im very suprised that storm didnt spawn tornados.

  • me too it was very similar to the one that hit near lismore that did spawn a twister. i should know i was in both storms!

  • Ha Ha, That guy Skatta won !!!

  • oh so that's your excuse...

  • hahaha, you two are pretty bloody funny but I'm afraid that Dingobluey has the right idea, unless you're talking about a male donkey in which case you'd be correct for spelling the word 'ass', as in jackass. Even in America it's still spelled 'Arse", only their accent can make it hard to tell at times. As it is though, your using the word "ass" incorrectly.

  • so I guessed Ipswich wrong but turns out I guessed you are a fuck'n blood nut..hahaha... where are you from then? I dunno about my parents... but I always make your mum feel satisfied

  • look who puts the wrong emphasis on THE wrong WORDS... yeh I'm looking at who the bogan is... go back to Ipswich you fuck'n blood nut

  • i don't wanna be a yank...I just wanna spell shit the way it sounds... can you even afford a plane ticket? you're so bogan i'm surprised you can even use a computer

  • dumbasss....... i'm aussie and i spell it ass... arse is a gay way of saying it like "you take it up the arse..." or " you fingered his arse"...see how gay that pronounciation sounds...

  • je tu es ane` tu-oit plorme counte deist

  • His right. Your an idiot.

  • Lol why do people say the most dumb ass things when it has nothing to do with the clip.

  • Because they want attention... and sadly, they succeed.

  • umm... does anyone else think this clip is akin to "childeren of the corn" or something like that. it really scared me. the eerie silence and the kid.

  • yes I understand its, just another storm when your talking to your children. as worried as you might be, you don't want to scare the kids.

  • LOL

  • dumbass he was trying to keep the daughter calm and not panic.

  • i was effected by that!

  • YEAH JUST ANOTHER STORM

  • "just another storm tony"

  • thats crazy stuff.

    cripeys

  • Good video.

It does look like a funnel cloud, you can see some rotation. One of the other vids showed an 'eye' where the wind stops, then starts again. Yes, Oz does have tornados, most usually not seen and not as big as the US Gret Plains monsters. So does NZ.

  • Everything is so static and still

  • That is one scary sky ... yipe. Looks like a funnel, not sure, wouldn't be standing out there filming, I'd be looking for shelter! LOL WOW. Five amazing stars!

    *StormSpinner1* in Texas

  • that hastobe tornado forming. Look closley and you will see its rotating.

  • hey was that a tornado in the background there!?? if not it was some sort of optical illusion

  • damn mustve been a good one we just got the tail and it full flooded and evrything!

  • thats crazy

  • that's not a knife!.....;)

  • that's not a knife!....;)

  • and didnt hit hard

  • yeah that was very crazy... trees down everywhere.

  • i was sleeping during the sunday storm .... boy was there damage here!

  • "just another storm" welcome to another queensland summer.

  • Whats the News doing reporting "mini-tornando"? This footage proves it was a fully fledged Tornado or also known as a Twister. This is what hit Brisbane, don't go saying "mini" to the people who lost their homes. It about time the Governments had the guts to release the facts. This is a cover up only for Insurance purposes. News Flash: " A Twister made a Touch Down in Brisbane on the 16th of November!" Great footage by the way!

  • No such thing as a 'mini' tornado....its like saying your missus is 'mini' pregnant. it is, or it isn't. no question about it.

  • hahahah best answer / argument possible!

  • I keep track of storms on the weather watch radar on the Bureau of Meteorology website, it's brilliant. Tonight's storm shows a lot of rain heading south-east towards the NSW border.

  • we're on notice here too in Lismore

  • "Just another storm"? That was the understatement of the year as it turned out. It's only a matter of time before Brisbane experiences an actual tornado that causes severe damage like in the US or people are killed.

  • don't think s

  • You never know, wouldn't rule anything out.

  • Mini-Tornado me thinks!

  • Looks like a tornado at the start. I hope it dont come to the goldcoast

  • bro, it happened 3 days ago.

the storm would have dissapated long ago.

  • I know but it looked like another 1 was comming today so yer thats why i left the comment

  • the worst of that storm just missed my house - but some of the damage around near where i live is really terrible - we were really lucky ^^

  • Thank you for showing this lovely video that was a hell of a storm to see, I'm an interstate stormchaser but to see this beast in action was amazing!

Thats a hell of a Gustfront with solid rain free areas and even though that lowering section looks suss (similar to a tornado) its just a piece of really low scud (theres no rotation) most likely a downdraught section

thank you again for posting the vid!

  • your get tornados....u do get them and u get alot but u dont get told to keep u calmb. but i bet like i will put money on it that one day soon a big one will hit brisbane bigger then this and alot of ppl will be hurt or killed

  • "Just another storm Tony"

    No more of them thanks.

  • Absolutely epic.

  • :O THAT'S AMAZING!!!

Well, there CAN BE NO QUESTION NOW; that was no 'ordinary storm'!

Looks more like a scene from war of the worlds~!

  • the dams will be full tomorrow

  • wow it looks like its forming into a tornaDO Or something lol

    crazy!!

  • I'm in nz atm, Just wondering if it did anything to the dams?

  • haha well you can't drink the tap water in The Gap (the worst place hit)

  • yeah cause the roof of the resivor fell in with bird poo on it so people couldn't drink it

they were giving out free water at the gap state school though

i am lucky and live in red hill in brisbane where there was no damage at all

    one persons roof blew off

army troops where all over the streets

like 6 schools didnt go on the monday cause there was too many trees all in the buildings and stuff

one schools playground got ripped apart

    freaky

  • this was taken from cedar creek looking toward mt tamborine and across to logan village ... ? chanel 7 ? no ... yah it did look like a funnel was forming but then the bigger storm hit us from the other side

  • I was in Soutbank when clouds started coming over brisbane. I got my shit and left with my girl, cause i thought there might be a bit of a storm, but this was nuts. I have an awesome view from an apartment overlooking the CBD but didn't record it. Amazing storm.

  • man its not amazing

  • great footage.

just saw it on the Channel 7 news here in Sydney.. did they ask you?

  • I was at Kenmore when the storm hit, scared the crap outta me! had to run to the car in all the rain....was completely soaked :(

  • wow amazing shot - we were driving in this as we had no choice to stop until we saw the road side kerb

  • That storm scared the crap out of me... It came on so suddenly! wasnt the humidity insane before it hit??

My fiance and I were driving and saw clouds similar to the ones in your video and we sped home- got home just as it hit and the power went out from 4pm until 1:30pm the next day!

The Gap was worst hit... poor people!

    Great footage!

  • Where were you when you shot this ?

What suburb were you in ?

  • Definately looks like a Tornado Funnel !!

Evidence Brisbane and Mount Tamborine may have been hit by one or more Tornadoes on Sunday Afternoon !!

  • nah

    it was a mini cyclone

    soooo much damage!!

  • theres no such thing as a mini cyclone it was just a severe thunderstorm. A Cyclone is a large scale system (low pressure system) and theres no such thing as a mini version of them you either have them or don't.

A severe thunderstorm by comparison is a small scale system.

  • was that a funnel?

  • Awesome. You only got 24s of footage?

  • Thats some incredible cloud formation there.
