you have a great seat :D maybe a little stiff, but that could have been for some reason that i dont know :P i like your riding style, it kinda looks like lifeisweet
That's fine that you disagree. : ) However it does not cause runouts and or refusals. My whole barn rides at a half seat and we hardly ever have refusals other then our horses that are learning to jump. So I too must disagree with your comment. Half Seats would not still be commonly used if they caused refusals. Maybe with certain horses.
That's so cool you do eventing! I have an eventing mare but I don't ride at an Eventing barn. I ride at a hunter barn so everyone thinks I'm crazy bringing this wild horse to a hunter barn. I plan on doing some eventing or atleast cross country once I am out of college someday. : ) I am doing Jumpers instead because my eventing mare isn't much of a hunter. lol : )
My trainers are constantly saying "That horse is way to wild", and everyone at the barn thinks I am crazy. People tried to tell me she's too much for me. Well my trainer got on her and she rides more in her hands so she almost got thrown off. So now people still think I am crazy but they think it in a respectful way! lol
Same here. I ride this really hot oldenburg mare and shes really big and my parents and my trainers dont want me riding her cuz they think shes too much horse for me to handle! But i still ride her anyway and everybody else is scared to ride her. lol
I love oldenburgs! Mine is an appendix. She is 16.2 and black. I have some videos. I hate the one where I canter! My shirt was so unflattering! I have the biggest horse at the barn. : )
u r a REALLY good rider, but just try not 2 pump u'r back so much. i do the same thing and my riding teacher tells me not 2. i disagree with her but she's been riding for what 40!
liek i said your other vids...you have a great seat, but try not o arch your back as much!!! *suggestion- i dont like it when people comment back with well blah blah blah sooo...* HE IS SUCH A GORGOUS HORSE THOUGH!!!!!
You are not a bad rider, but there are some things you could do to improve you equitation and be more evective, sit DOWN in your saddle in the canter, you can sit and still stay light in the saddle. Also
i love ur seat i prefer when ppl sit 2 a canter due 2 so many ppl bumping 2 much on the back but u are so gud at keeping light and still great riding LOVE ur horse (i don't care about breeding)
it would be better for you and your horse if you didnt arch your back and didnt lean so far forward but other than that good job...lol :) well since ther is a discussion going on about breeds ill say something to lol.....i like wb for jumper and dressage and tb for eventing but QH and paints etc. are good for hunter lol :)
I have a dainty QH mare and she is a bit sturdy/stocky. I've always thought that I wouldn't place because of her, but my trainer has told me many times that they cannot mark you down because of the breed. I'd like to have a WB but she's got so much heart. :) good luck
Hes a paint horse. So actually a QH. Alot of people don't like his breed for jumping. I love him, but to place I do need a WB or TB. That's why he is for sale, unfortunatly.
what my horse does is when i want him to trot the course(not cantering it yet) he picks up a canter when were like a centimeter from the jump and he keeps going and going he galloped off with me just the other day and sinse he did that we made him do sitting trots and small circles for the rest of the lesson. its sukz cuz im really trying hard to get this but he doesnt cooperate
King used to do that too. What I did was just put a pole where the jump would be, or put it at the lowest height. And ask him to trot an entire course like that. If he gets it, start bumping up the height back to where you want it. Hope that helps! :) (I'm not trying to tell you what to do either, just thought I'd put my two cents in)
everything looked good and it looked like he stumbbled at 0:27 and he kicked up again and it looked like it was in the same spot try and break him of that otherwise he will learn to do that a lot and it comes from experince
Such a Great Horse!!! Reminds me of my Horse!!! :~D

Hey, I ride at a half seat too! I much prefer it, I think it looks so much more graceful. : ) I also think you have a really nice seat.
EquestrianKW 3 years ago
i have to disagree. Getting in halfseat too early almost ensures a runout/ refusal.

lol i have 1 of the biggest. The mare is almost seventeen hands. I think she i like a 1/2 inch off so really shes 16.3!
gymnastgal234 3 years ago
Most of the people at my barn are pony people, I think the bigger the better. So everyone makes fun of me because I am 5'2. : )

its a halfseat shes not trying to sit in the saddle, most hunter judges prefer a halfseat to a fullseat, nice round funny horsie :P

it was nice until the end. but your right, everyone has off days.
EnglishPonyHolic 4 years ago
when you are jumping maybe its better to try to sit better in the canter. then you ride comfurtable and maybe it´ll help you jump better.
MmandSs 4 years ago
he looks like a lot of fun
great job
ponyclubber93 4 years ago
umm you could try sitting a bit deeper in your canter, jsut helps with having a secure seat. you look uncomfortable. but maybe its just me

That's what I'm doing now. Getting him out of that habit. I made him do the entire course twice without pulling that at the end. So he's better now
