  • wonderful, this song is somehow so haunting, and so beautiful too. you can feel the voice of the ages through it.

  • Farsi trasportare dalle note di questo violino, è come salire in celo, sopra le nuvole....e ritrovarsi in paradiso.

  • wow, she's amazing. She plays with her heart.

  • Es maravillosa, escucho su música, miro sus videos y sus actuaciones y realmente tiene magia, parece una bella mariposa azul danzante, muy bello, gracias.

  • Amazing!

Mairead is one of my favorite members of Celtic Woman!

It's staggering how she can jump and leap about the stage and not lose a beat in her playing.

  • @CaptEoNinja83 or get her hair caught!!

  • @CaptEoNinja83 I find that amazing too, but I find it more amazing that her hair doesn't get caught on the instrument.. xD

  • @AthkoreDragonQueen That just proves she's magical!

  • @CaptEoNinja83 indeed it does ^-^

  • @CaptEoNinja83 It's staggering that her hair doesn't get tangled in the strings

  • I looooove how she dances when she plays! <3

  • al mirar su cara pareciera que siente la musica que toca... ^_^

  • amo esta melodia, la estoy sacando en violin!!

  • Those spoons are made from the finest materials, titanium and diamonds; anything else to break from the shear awesomeness of the music being played.

  • @n3tA1b3rt0 I hope you aren't using this video to determine that!

Anywhere you look, Google, reviews, synopsis, etc, they call this show a live performance in front of a large audience. Mairead Nesbitt has no need to fake a song she has been playing for many years. Check her bio.

  • @n3tA1b3rt0 or she is playing too fast to see

  • one word wow

  • Interesting bow hold...

  • @bonza4clarinet I was thinking the same thing. I was always taught to hold the bow towards the end....I guess she has better control by holding it that way...????

  • @njslatinbxtch It's called a baroque style bow hold. It is used for some baroque period pieces to make the sound lighter, since back then the bows were shorter and designed a little differently... My guess is since she was classically trained she has just learned to use that bow hold and is using it to give a lighter sound.

  • @Beg4ZNight Actually, in Mozart's music the bow was held like that, so during the Classical music era. Just splitting the hairs here :)

  • @bonza4clarinet When you hold the bow higher up, then you have more control over it. This hold is especially useful during pieces with rapid tempos. I was classically trained, but when I want to relax or just need to think, I play more "fiddle" pieces. I use the higher grip for that purpose.

  • She jumps but doesn't slip which her finger positioning when she land HOW DOES SHE DO THAT?

  • Wow that's incredible

  • wow!!! magnifica hermoso

  • NO ME GUSTÓ, ME ENCANTO :D SUPER WOW!!

  • she has amazing violine skillz O.o bravo!!! :D

  • She is absolutely breath taking!

  • i know the second part of this tune is the session does anyone know what the other name for the session is please thannksa

  • @craigmolloy1 Someone recently posted that it was Gobby-O, does that sound right to you?

    Gobby-O sounds similar.

  • @IntoTheMystical

thanks anyway its def not gobby o sounds totaly different its the session i know it is but for the life of me i cant think of its other name

  • @craigmolloy1 OK, thanks for letting me know.

  • <3

  • @IntoTheMystical Right. But they're still different instruments. She plays both, but for Celtic Woman, she plays the Fiddle, not the Violin.

  • @DC11961 Just check a dictionary, encyclopedia, or Google, the instrument is the same. The style of play is often called violin or fiddle music, but the instrument is the same.

The instrument she uses here and in all her other songs is 300 years old, made by an Italian violin maker Mathias Albani.

  • It's called a Fiddle not a violin because I play one. She was awesome I have to admit.

  • @irishbagpipeman Search for:

Celtic Woman - Mairead Interview Part 1

She calls it "fiddle, or violin".

  • enchanting! x

  • Turning the violin into a glamorous instrument.

  • WOW

  • Perfectly violin playing! Are there scripts for playing it by yourself?=

    genial percussion!

  • Man...She dance like a Butterfly...And her Hair is like her wings in the air...

  • @HaseoXaron She's not a butterfly! She's a pixie!

  • Lol at 1:22, I seriously loved the way she smiled, her expression kinda said: watch me---can u keep up??? hee hee I luv her I've never seen some1 play the fiddle like that... :D

  • @SuperAnacelia It's actually a violin.

  • @CountyGal4546 Fiddle is a nickname for a violin. Usually when referring to music like this it is called a fiddle.

  • @SuperAnacelia and u probably never will she definitely no from earth she to amazing and peaceful to be a human

  • @SuperAnacelia it said to me "I am gonna take the lead, can you keep up?"

  • @hawaiidiver68 lol i think it said that too. :D

  • I love how she smiles like "can you keep up?" at 1:22!

  • Just watch her fingers!!!! Her arms and hands must be so tired after each preformance!!!!

  • I Love How there is a guy actually playing the spoons! This group is FANTASTIC!

  • 1:19 Here she kicks it up to 11, and I'm like oooh.

  • Is this a rendition on the Gobby-O (Thomas Jeffereson's presidential campaign song)?

  • @stesta5074 The first tune is an old Celtic song called Butterfly, no one has ever been able to identify the last song - but dang, I think it might be Gobby-O! There is only one version of Gobby- O that I can find on Youtube but it sure sounds similar.

  • Máiréad is my violin goddess.

  • She is scary awesome good!!! My mind is blown.

  • Tell me THAT fiddle ain't got soul!

  • ok....there's the like button, the dislike button.....HEY!!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE'S THE LOVE BUTTON?!

  • i'd like to c them in Ireland with a castle and a sun set.

  • Thank you for sharing. Added to favourites with Love & Appreciation:)

  • How do you remember all the finger moving . I guess it is like remembering the pace when playing a guitar

  • I just love Celtic Woman! :). Thanks for posting!

  • I have just fallen in love all over again - amazing!

  • Actually I think its a fiddle. I went to that show, and it was nothing short of spectacular.

  • @blueangel260 It is pretty isn't it. A violin and a fiddle are the same thing though. Fiddling is just a style of playing. If the instrument is made to fiddle, it can still be played as a reguler violin. There really isn't a difference. I agree with you about the show, it's spectaculer!

  • So wonderful to watch...very talented!

  • Love!!

  • she did something that's almost impossible for me..

  • her hair seems made of silk instead of dead skin

  • I soooo wanna play this exact song! But they don't have it out! :(

  • @GoAssassinsCreed195 Did you try the Celtic Woman songbook? They have all the songs, including ones for the violin... I can message you the ISBN of the one I have if you like...

  • omg i love this song its my fav out of the whole cd besides u raise me up

  • play it girl

  • godlike play

  • I wish this were a theme for a Zelda game :/

  • I Love this little fairy like violinist. She is truely amazing.

  • she also toured with michael flatley's lord of the dance

  • @Digipup4life It's called lots of practice :P

As a horn player there are some pieces I've played so many times I can walk around and play them without thinking, while reading emails. The beauty of psychomotor skills.

  • as nice as tat sounds.. it changes meters... in irish music the meter determines what it is. ie. slip jig, jig, reel, hornpipe. if you pay attention there is a transition from the slow to the fast that could indicate 2 different pieces and since there is a meter change it makes me want to believe that its a defferent piece. if it was the same piece there would be remnants of the first melody and i personally dont hear any. so i dunno. thanks for the input though. i guess ill keep searching

  • What amazes me is how she can move when she plays. I play violin as well, this song actually doesn't have many EXTREMELY difficult parts...

But when she's spinning and dancing with all that long blonde hair going every way, I can't possibly imagine how she does it!!!!

  • i know the first song is The Butterfly, but what i really wanna know its what the second one is called. when she speeds up(1:20 to end) and goes into what im guessing is a jig of some sort. anyone have any ideas?

  • @marshallguy89 The whole video is one song. The title describes how the song transforms completely from the slow calming melody to the fast tempo.

  • it really sounds like a little butterfly <3

  • *she. My bad, typo.

  • What is she playing at first, before he speeds up? I know I've heard it before (maybe in an Eluveitie song), but I can't quite put my finger on it... Anyone know what it is?

  • cge ikw na mmgaling...

  • wish i can dance to her music but i dont know how to dance 8D

  • My turn. :D

  • She is definitely one with her instrument!

I love that... her instrument makes her so beautiful! (even more than she is naturally)

  • Wow, this is awesome! Look at the way she moves so gracefully and smiles at the crowd. And the violin-she's an expert on that one! I love her dress too.

  • what song does she start playing at about 1:30 ?

  • @devavadesigns Its all one song but the sound of it changes

  • She is very gracious to those she plays with as well. She gives nods and attention to them, which is rare and kind of neat.

  • I love how Mairead seems to actually enjoy playing and performaning. Was watching Lucia and My God!! Lucia looked as if she was constipated while playing! Nesbitt rules!

  • i play the violin and my life's dream is to be as good as her on it. She is beautiful and has SO much talent. :) this song makes me want to get up and dance.. im irish so i guess thats why ;)

  • I can't seem to find out.. what type of music this is. :/ You know how they have Orchestra.. and new age like E.S Posthumus. :< I want more of those adventurous music from lord of the rings! :P

  • @PewpewFighter If you like ES Posthumas you should look up Two Steps from Hell if you havent already. As for the celtic stuff try Ronan Hardiman or if you like straight bagpipes try Gordan Duncan and Angus McCarrol. As for Lord of the Rings music, I agree Howard Shore is incredible, as is Zimmerman and my personal favorite Christopher Lenartz

  • @VoughtF4U1A Thank you! :)

  • i used to play violin .. i regret quiting now :L

  • amazing!!! i wish i could play like her!!!

  • I Love this woman!!!!

    Amazing!!!

  • I happen to luv chloe and I don't think u should be saying bad things about her

  • wow best violin playing ive ever seen. she sure has talent.

  • I love this song. All I can think of is Roan Inish! She is such a wonderful player. I wish I ould play like that.

  • I love how Celtic Woman doesn't completely ignore her. They let her actually come out and strut her stuff. And boy, she does it and does it well!

BTW I completely agree with Tangerine258, but I still love Lisa and wish that Orla Fallon hadn't left.

  • Wow!! Love this song.. and passion.. great powerful healing.. in dancing music here, blessings your way!

  • she is just georgus

  • of all members of CW, Mairead is the only one who still keep the Celtic soul in her performance. Lisa has converted to ballad, Chloe indulges in Disney songs and Lynn and Alex... I don't want to say, but the two new girls really ruined the Celtic style of CW since they bring no special traditional value in both their voice, their accent and their songs. What I can see is that Alex Sharpe's songs are really a replica of Phil Collin's ones.
