Hi Mike. I just moved to Brentwood, MD and we want to buy a corn stove this week because we got hit with a $700 electric bill for our heat pump on a 1100 sq ft home even though we were setting the heat to between 60-62 degrees to try and save money. That didn't work out too well and we froze in the process, so we decided to just go for it with the corn stove. We are thinking about buying a Buckner BR-5 corn stove and were wondering if u know anything about them. What is yours?
Loved your video. What is the brand name of your corn stove. I just brought one and I love it, but it lacks the stirring mechanism that your stove boasts. Thank you
OHH right. What about the fact that corn depletes the soil its grown in of nutrients? Then the corn is fed Ammonium Nitrate.. No matter how you look at it something is getting depleted.
While this is a novel idea, since this video was made the price of corn has tripled due to 40% of the USA corn crop going to produce ethanol and 85 flex-fuel. My guess is right now you would pay double for a load of corn what you would now pay for the eqv BTU output of a standard cord of firewood.
Keep in mind that since this video was made the price of corn has more than tripled in cost due to agri-business getting on the ethanol/flex fuel bandwagon. My guess is right now it would cost you double to purchase the same load of corn for what a standard cord of firewood would produce in heat. Not only that but after storms when trees blow over there's usually cut up wood on the curb free for the taking after the cleanup.
This is Awsome !!!!!! .. Myself and a freind are invistigating the business potential for solar and alternative and reusable energy resources .. Thank you so much for posting this !!

Well Corn prices have come back down again. Depending on where you are located and your availability it is still very economical source of heat.

super cool. What else could the stove use aside from corn specifically? Was this custom?
