hey man, just want to clarify something. the reason prisoners don't lock eyes with you is because a "stare down" is completely forbidden in Japanese prison. even the slightest of eye contact can lead to solitary confinement. My uncle also got incarcerated in japan once. he told me he just looked at someone to intimidate them or something and they sent him to the hole.

Have you ever been locked up anywhere else in the world? There is violence, score settling and people sizing you up in every prison in the world. I would have assumed that Japanese prisons were towards the less depraved and savage end of the scale so I would like to know how they compare to other countries. I have been locked up in England and Mexico so I only have those 2 reference points but the UK definitely has some worse one that Mexico!

@Davidbensonxyz actually i once read a creepy article about japanese prison. It really tramatised me, i remember feeling very sad for daes after reading the article, and whenever i remember the article i feel sad again. It included sworn testimony from a guy who had been in a japanese prison, and showed horrible conditions of the prisoners wif abusive guards.

This Pete guy i think got off pretty lucky, so im glad for him.
