They aren't twins, they are mirror images of each other. Some songs portray them as siblings but they really aren't. I believe Len means left and Rin means right and Kagamine means mirrored sound.

it's just translated in two different ways because in japanese "L" sounds exactly like "R", so "Ren" and "Len" would be the same person. It's just depends on the person translating. in japanese "R" sounds exactly like "L" in english but translated in romaji as "R". so the translation would be a conflict of "translation" vs. "pronunciation"
Actually, I don't think the Japanese pronounce it EXACTLY like "L". It's more of the two COMBINED, so you'd actually being saying something like "RLen", but the "L" is less dominate.
Also: Le= LEft. Ri= RIght. There names are a play on "left" and "right", therefore, for his name, it would be "Len", that's how I see it.
As for being twins, no it is not STATED that they are, but it seems to be kind of inferred, that is if, they were humans. Since they aren't human, you an infer this however.

They're not twins. I swear to Kira. They just look alike because the word kage or kagem (whatever =P) Meand mirror. They are mirror images of each other. @wingdrabbit2005 I'll clear the confusion. Yes they are twins, and no they are not related. There's a play with the names, Len for left and Rin for right while they're last name translates to Mirror Noise I believe, I'm probably wrong with that. But with the play with the names, they are Mirror images.
@0Malaya0 Officially they are mirror images, but some see them as a couple and others see them as twins. (I personally believe in twins they are not in any songs as mirror images that I know of, they have the same last name and they are not old enough to get married unless they lived in the middle ages.)

Then you're being quite silly. Ren is gramatically correct following the Japanese language. Just like Love would be Ravu(Love is really Ai, but they use Ravu as well for Katakana.).

Well hey, if you wanna get really technical about things, they're not even human, and can't possibly be blood-related.
It's really a personal opinion how they're viewed. Their last names do mean Mirror (Kagami) and Sound (Ne), but that doesn't really prove anything.
Personally, I like to think they're twins. They're so cute. C:
But on a relevant note, very good cosplay. :D
