Oh my lovely dance music. What a time it was when I heard it the first time. We played this one over and over. The synth part, the bass line and jocelyn's voice. Nothing compares to music like this.
Damn!! born in D.C. and raised in P.G. but I missed this one...was it just club or did WHUR play it on the quiet storm? I must be to young (did grow up there in the 70's tho)...joint is nice! Kinda remind me of something the Blackbirds would have done.
I just heard this played on Nick Aravis's show on Solar and it's the first time I heard it. It made me cry! What a beautiful groove. It reminds me of someone who I felt like this about but sadly, it didn't last forever - I haven't given up hope though - maybe one day....
The greatest dj I ever heard in my life! He would play 'walking on sunshine', an then play the 12 minute 'living on the frontline' by eddy grant. mixing r&b an reggae...dam
I dedicate this beautiful tune to the late DJ Ellwood "Woody" Mack who used to close the Delta Elite Club in DC with the Jocelyn's Inner Life album version of the song back in the early 80's. Donna McGhee's version is nice too. We miss Woody here in DC. Keith
This song just makes me cry when I think back to the days and nights I spent at the PG having my life including the people I met and those who are no longer with us today. Nothing will ever be like those days no matter how hard people try to recreate that whole environment.
@ranus42 Ranus you are absolutely right on that. We were very fortunate to have lived that experience cause it was truly an experience that will never come again. You can cannot recreate it. I share your tears along with many others who know what it was like.
Love this song, PG all Day baby.. I remember at the weee hours in the AM Larry use to seed out the crowd for the true dancers.... i remember it and get that feelin like it was this morning!!! RIP Larry, always with me in my spirit, my heart and my mind never really gone
This tune is classic... makes me think about the fond memories of growing up in N,Y.... where has the time gone? Artist of 2day should sit back go to the basics & learn from such an artist like JB..... no era like the fantastic 70's early 80's.
I honestly don't know which one is better, Donna McGhee's or InnerLife's. This is an extreme rarity in music. I tend to lean to Donna's because her's is the 1st version I ever heard. But this version makes me wonder.
NYC, Wow This song just bring me back to the Long Hallway that lead to the entrance and the unisex Bathrooms and the Music that was amazing, wow even remember when i got my Membership for the friday night jump off, Performances and real ladys. Today"s Music is straight up Garbage. That ERA was my life and my experience and nobody could take that from me. REST IN PEACE LARRY
"just move a little slower, I think I'm almost there. Inch by inch we're nearer, Paradise is Here baby! That's why, we're gonna make it last forever!"
This is a great song & it brings back lots of memories .... This is the first time in 15 years that I heard the full version .... I have mixed and cut versions on several mixed cd's ... Full is BEST ....
Ahh... what great memories! I can close my eyes and imagine it's 8 am in the Paradise Garage with the club still packed! I still love this track and Ms Jocelyn Brown.

Nah you are missing something here. The break beat is a Patrick Adams record. Donna McGhee was the original artist.
