  • Say, "Do you worship besides Allah that which holds for you no [power of] harm or benefit while it is Allah who is the Hearing, the Knowing?" Quran 5:76

Say, "O People of the Scripture, do not exceed limits in your religion beyond the truth and do not follow the inclinations of a people who had gone astray before and misled many and have strayed from the soundness of the way." Quran 5:77

  • Our prophet wanted to teach the Jews that Islam has room for merriment and that he himself was sent with a moderate and flexible legislation.we need to introduce Islam to others in a good fashion, along with displaying its moderateness and magnanimity.

Cat thought exactly the way you thought and stayed away from music for almost 3 decades, and he realized his mistake,he said he was abrupt and harsh, had he not done that,he'd have attracted many more to Islam.lets agree to disagree and end this.

  • @TheEnigma7111

Well this is making haram the halal me friend. If I was to say that in order to invite someone to Islam you have to go to the pub and give dawah while drinking with them would that make it right?

A Muslim has to make sacrifices in life and our aim is not to please the people but to please Allah. I don't care if people want to hear music I will never support it or even if I was a nasheed singer I will never do it because Allah has clearly mention in the Quran that it is haram.

  • @TheEnigma7111

This kind of thinking is very dangerous, you are turning what is Haram to Hala and what is Halal to Haram.

This is why I say to learn with people of knowledge instead of your own, you will make major mistakes when learning on your own because you cannot question a book.

And who said that I follow blindly? I question the scholars, not in a harsh way but in a way to get knowledge, this is the only way to learn.

  • so are u saying shia's are not to be blamed for their ignorance, their scholars are...we all will be accounted for our own actions...we are all given a free mind and intelligence, we need to exercise it!

  • @TheEnigma7111

I never said anything like that about Shia's. You are not understanding and twisting my words.

Everyone is judged by their own intentions.

I prefer to follow a scholar because I know he can teach me the Quran, Sunnah and Hadith better than I can teach myself. I don't like to make mistakes.

  • there are many hadiths supporting music, fun, sports and so on!look into it, dnt wanna argue

  • Did you know hadiths were written by humans. Imam Bukhari was one of the greatest scholars who collected a lot of hadiths and put it into books.

So your saying that you don't trust scholars but your still reading and accepting hadiths? How can that be possible?

I think ur seriously in need of help.

  • imam bukhari collected hadiths, and he himself said the hadith From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk (clothes), the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful, is a weak hadith..ibn hazam, imama bukhari himself said so!it's not that i dont trust scholars, i dnt trust them blindly like u do, u need help

  • A'ishah narrated: our prophet, came to my house while two girls were singing beside me the songs of Bu`ath . The Prophet laid down and turned his face to the other side. Then Abu Bakr came and spoke to me harshly saying, Musical instruments of Satan near the Prophet?' Thereupon, our prophet trned his face towards him and said, Leave them.' When Abu Bakr became inattentive, I signaled to those girls to go out and they left. (Reported by Al-Bukhari)

  • @TheEnigma7111

That hadith your referring to about A'isha and the two girls singing had no musical instruments, they were just using their voices.

  • as u knw very well there are now many sects in islam, why?because people are merely following scholars, they not thinking for themselves!he got ijaza, he's dne the hard work, he knws what he's doin, y do i gotta think?mohammed is the biggest scholar and quran is the biggest guide, use it

  • @TheEnigma7111

Even Muhammad (pbuh) said that you should learn from scholars. He said that scholars are his inheritors.

"O community of people who believed by their tongue, while belief has not entered their hearts: Do not backbite Muslims, and do not search for their faults, for if anyone searches for their faults, Allah will search for his fault, and if Allah searches for the fault of anyone, He disgraces him in his house." (Abu Dawud)

  • cat stevens was a pop star who had no clue about islam, he read the quran and got it,u dnt need to be a scholar, doctor or a rocket scientist to understand it!and which ayah in the quran exactly clearly prohibits music?and the only hadith i know is also weak..so enlighten me

  • @TheEnigma7111

Cat Stevens experienced a miracle, it is after this he seeked knowledge from knowledgable people and after understanding Islam he embraced it.

He didn't just pick up the Quran one day and became a Muslim just like that. Do you even know his history? Do u know about the time when he was almost drowning and he suddenly saw a tree branch which he got a hold of and pulled his way back onto the shore.

I have friends who have met Yusuf Islam and was very close to him so I know.

  • i know his story very well(and im a big fan) and i dnt need my friends to be friends with him to understand his story lol ... he said he read the quran, he read the names of the prophets, and he related to the story of joseph and he realised this is indeed the word of god, he didn mention anything about a scholar changing his mind!and what u trying to say that his near death experience made him a muslim, not his understanding and realisation of the quran

  • @TheEnigma7111,

The way you write seems like you don't follow any hadith or sunnah except the Quran.

Well if you follow just the Quran then you are not Muslim, why? Muhammad (pbuh) said that we should follow the Quran and his Sunnah and his teachings.

The Quran does not show you how to pray does it? Does it show you how to fast? No it doesn't, through the Sunnah and Hadiths you learn how to do these actions.

  • i follow and quran and hadith,,just get me a hadith that prohibits music in clear words!a single hadith that exclusively mentioned music as haraam and said we must stay away from it!it's more like U dnt read the hadith and u just read the interpretations of ur favorite scholars!again i dnt believe in blindly believing scholars,im guessing u r a sunni since u regard bikhari as a scholar, which shia's ovbsly dnt, they blv in other SCHOLARS who REBUKES prophet's companions and ayesha!

  • @TheEnigma7111

I don't follow scholars blindly, in fact I search and look at their history through their Ijaza and Isnad.

Your reading Sahih Al Bukhari but he is still a scholar.

A good scholar does not care if they are attacked by humans, they will only care if Allah is happy with them but that does not mean we should attack these scholars, we should respect those that try to spread the knowledge.

  • @TheEnigma7111

I don't follow scholars that go against the majority of scholarly opinions or the Ulama.

Even the Prophet (PBUH) said you should stick to the majority, its in a hadith.

  • and please enlighten me as to why u think what yusuf is doing here is not permissible?

  • @TheEnigma7111

In the Qur'an it clearly states that music is haram, Yusuf Islam is using music in his songs which is forbidden and haram in Islam.

  • yeah i agree with u aminul1984. yeah music is not allowed in islam

  • hey y has he started using music. isnt it bad in islam.may allah guide him

  • @CaliforniaBoy1000

What idiot told you he supports terrorist groups? Or maybe your the idiot who is brainwashed by biased news channels into thinking that he supports terrorist organisations.

I wouldn't call Hamas & Hezbollah terrorist organisations because they are doing the right thing which is fighting back for people that cannot defend themselves from the real terrorist which is Israel. If someone came and destroyed ur house and called it their land would you call them criminals?

  • @CaliforniaBoy1000

Of course you will call them criminals, and this is what the Israeli's are doing, they deprive people of their lands and call it their own and they kill innocent ppl.

    THAT IS NOT PEACEFUL

Remember you support a terrorist organisation by supporting Israel.

  • music is not 100% allowed in islam . but the way his doing i dont see anything wrong with it, his teaching u something by playing that music . music is limited in islam . i hope this clearifies for u, playing music to make others to become an object for man or woman is unlawful in islam . and many more

  • I have no problem with Yusuf Islam's lyrics, they are very good and have a solid meaning to the song.

But back in the late 90s he wasn't using any music, why is it now he is using music?

  • Thanx Yusuf. God Bless You..

  • GOD BLESS YUSUS ISLAM

  • Islam = Religion = 宗教 = الدين

Islam = Way of life = 生命の方法 = طريقة حياة

    Islam = Peace = 平和 = السلام

    Islam = Respect = الإحترام

    Islam = loving = المحبة

I♥LOVE YOU ALL FOR THE SAKE OF ALLAH ♥

  • I respect this guy, cos he's the only one i heard say 'No Screaming' which is sinful in islam

  • MUsic is allowed in Islam if it is to praise ALLAH ,prophet muhammad saas and propagating Islam, the music of yusuf islam always make my faith stronger and give me courage so often...

  • Music is haram in Islam, look in the Quran Surah Luqman 31:6, talks about idle talks which means music, if you don't understand fully go to a certified scholar and ask him the question. SunniPath was recommended to me by a brother who studies with a scholar who has an unbroken chain of narrations. And Allah alone knows best

  • Just sit still and listen to the song instead of babbling about believes and faith. -_- Enjoy Yusum islam.:)

  • TsukiShia: Who are you to tell me to be quiet? Are you Muslim?

It is a Muslims duty to speak out against any wrong or sinful things, music in Islam is considered unlawful.

Yusuf Islam is a great person, but what he doesn't understand is that music should not be used in Islam, he can use vocals and harmonies or the tambourine, this is okay but the guitar is considered unlawful.

I don't hate Yusuf Islam but I pray to Allah (God) that he guides him.

  • your argument isn't strong enough, in fact, you're totally wrong.

  • I don't debate or argue, I go with facts and not fiction.

If you are saying that my arguement isn't strong enough, prove it.

If you say that I am totally wrong then prove it.

I have got the majority of Islamic scholars backing me on this and it clearly says it in the Quran that music is sinful.

I can prove my points anyday.

You on the other hand might have trouble in proving your points.

  • the ayat of the sura you mentioned doesn't even talk about music. i once read some hadiths from bukhari/muslim, that muhammad was a big fan of music. if a tambourine is allowed, than why shouldn't a guitar be allowed? with music like yusuf's muslims can show the real face of islam, which teaches about peace and love between human. and i respect your interpretation of music and i respect that, but you have nothing to do in this video and write comments if you don't listen to it. PEACE!

  • It talks about idle talks and idle talks according to the majority of scholarly opinions means music.

Muhammad a big fan of music? I don't know where you got that from, but you are clearly wrong.

I don't read hadiths on my own because I get certified scholars to explain it to me.

Reading hadith books on your own is like studying for a degree in brain surgery without a teacher. Get a certified teacher to tell you what the hadiths mean because one hadith can have hundreds of meanings.

  • @TheEnigma7111

Are you even a Muslim? If not then I suggest you keep your mouth shut cos you don't understand anything that I am saying.

Scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets (PBUT)

  • scholars are the ones that divided the muslim with thier so called school of thoughts! u read the quran and hadiths, draw ur own conclusions!there's absolutely no substantial evidence to say that music is HARAM,be careful dude! the definition u use to "haramiaze" music, i can use the same definition, and make many things haraam including your breathing!so follow a moderate path, dnt try be extreme!i agree music is abused, but dnt blame it on the music!

  • @TheEnigma7111

Those people that do not follow scholars have not teachers and thus they lose out.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent as a Messenger and he was sent with a book, The Holy Qur'an. If this book was sent on its own then no one would have understood it because you need a teacher.

If you were to study all the books in heart surgery, then go to a hospital and start operating would that mean that you are qualified? Of course not, u need a teacher and scholars are the teachers.

  • the scholars and teachers will teach u the basics, the doctor one day requires no teacher and one day he becomes a teacher(if not a better one)!and this comparison is not valid...as doing a heart surgery is not meta physical, is physical, u will see the results immediately!whereas there are many disputes over ho to do the spiritual "surgery"!i dnt knw man...thats how i feel

  • Has any professor ever taught exactly the way his teacher taught him?The professor no longer remains a student and requires a teacher because he knows now how to teach!so u have been taught by the scholars, now time to no longer remain a student, try to understand yourself and teach yourself.Yusuf sacrificed his career to understand islam at the height of his fame, studied arabic, hadiths, quran so on....he reached his conclusions and i think he knows what he 's doing ,

  • @TheEnigma7111

All professors had teachers, they might not teach the same way as their teachers but what is important is where they got their knowledge from, if they just opened a book and read it they would clearly make mistakes.

There is a doctor in the cartoon "The Simpsons" hat does heart surgery by looking at a book and he makes mistakes, if you have any heart problems then go to people like him if you truly believe in them.

  • @TheEnigma7111

Everybody needs a teacher if not then why don't u become your own doctor by reading books, we'll see if you succeed.

Perform your own surgeries on yourself.

Clearly you are misguided and very wrong. The knowledge that you have has got major errors because it is your own interpretation and not of those who have studied this field.

  • dude again as for this whle doctor, it's not really a viable comparison!doctors jobs are physcl and u see qk physical effects thus knowing which is the right way or whatever, so there's one standard way of doing thgs!whereas scholars just divided people by stating their mere opinions and people thinkin he knws wat he;s doin,i cnt do dat!and even if we use that e.g, doctors techniques are continuously evolving, once student are becoming pioneers,if didn't happen the world would be still backward

  • @TheEnigma7111

So you being a person that relies on books mainly, what happens if you make a mistake? You have no teacher to go to, ur stuck and following something that is far away from Islam because you follow your nafs or your ego.

Majority of Muslims follow scholars, and you being a minority say that all these people are wrong, I think ur wrong and need to come out of that thinking.

  • @TheEnigma7111

When did any university professor become a professor without a teacher? He/she relied only on books?

Like I said before, if a person was to study all books on heart surgery and then call himself a doctor would you go to that doctor to get treated?

No qualified doctor will take him into their surgery or hospital.

  • @TheEnigma7111

Scholars have something that you don't have, and that is the Ijaza (certification to teach). They have a lineage that goes all the way back to the Prophet (PBUH).

Look at you, you talk by swearing, you have no wisdom in your speech nor any respect.

Who was your teacher in school? Or did you go to school and learn on your own from books at the age of 2?

Enough said, I made my point.

  • quran was sent and meant to be understood by u...not to be interpreted by some scholar and impose their opinion(which there is many of) on u....our prophet had no teacher, allah guided him, and allah will guide us 2. ahmadiyas, shia's, kharijis, they all considered wrong by the sunni sects..they all following some scholar and taking their words to be the irrefutable truth (which is a mistake), cus they can make mistakes too as they;re merely human

  • @TheEnigma7111

You say that Allah guided the prophet (pbuh) true but he was a messenger to spread the message of Islam to the people, after he died his companions continued the work or you can say the ummah, some of the companions were scholars, as we know Abu Bakr was one the greatest scholars.

You say you follow the Quran, what about the hadiths? Quran does not show you how to pray but it tells you to pray to Allah.

  • and which major scholar came from the lineage of prophet?as far as i know most are murdred

  • @TheEnigma7111

I know a few scholars that have got a lineage all the way back to the prophet (pbuh) and they all have Ijaza's (certifications).

  • PEACE

  • and just another thing i want to tell you.. if you read 'The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam' under the chapter about music, he will explain everything and comment the ayat from surah lukman. you don't have to be so negative and i hate to argue about islam, especially with a muslim brother. 'Ikre', He said to Muhamed, and there's a reason for that. So read more and be open minded and open heartet. Peace and love is the solution of everything with the help of God inshallah..

  • I am not arguing but trying to explain what I have learnt, I just want to share halal information thats all.

The scholars I have studied with have said that music is haram except for the tambourine which is considered halal.

I am open minded this is why I will look for the majority of opinions about this issue from scholars and books and to be honest just because one scholar wrote in his book said that music is allowed does not mean that this is true, you need to look at other sources.

  • And you need to compare all the sources you have gathered and see which one agrees and disagrees with each other.

I always go with the majority of the opinions because even Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said that you should follow the majority of opinions, its in a hadith I can't remember which one but I get the information if you require it.

  • And the hadith is 'Sahih' meaning genuine.

  • @TsukiShia

Yusuf Islam said: "Salman Rushdie must be killed. The Q'uran makes it clear - if someone defames the prophet, then he must die."

    (Source: Philadelphia Inquirer, February 24, 1989, p.5A)

Yusuf Islam is a two-faced phony who talks about peace one day, and calls for murder the next.

  • @RealityCheckHero It was an angry, jeering statement, which we all do. How many times you've said the f* word at someone? Does it mean you actually intended to do it? Rushdie's book as provocative (for example, about Abraham, he writes, "There goes the bastard"). So, Yusuf's retort wasn't like what we don't do in our daily life.

You've posted this a year ago; but, then, this reply is for others.

  • LisotEnio - or whatever that means?!

You are as ignorant as the DAY IS LONG!!

Shut up about hadith coz you aint got a clue about 'em!!

    Dummy!!

  • muhammad forbade musical instruments, it's in the hadith. how can any of us, even yusuf with respect, be so ignorant of this?!

Allah said they are going to hellfire for it!!

  • Why would you want to be a part of a "god" who forbids musical instruments? It's ridiculous. Anyone who can believe such nonsense is ridiculous. Personally, I'd rather burn in hell than be in heaven with some retard who forbids music.

  • In Indonesia, especialy in java island, music(gamelan/traditional javaness instrument) was used to spread islam. In the past, music(gamelan) was used to atract people to gather, after people gathering, sunan/kyai/ulama told them about islam.

  • watch?v=ewq9RwcIsWY

  • forget about all your hadiths and imams. this man is giving islam a great image.

  • I like your perspective :)

  • Saying that makes one a kaffir! How can we forget the Sunnah?!

  • agouralube: we as muslims should give a good message in a halal way. if your saying forget about hadiths then you might as well go to the pub and drink alcohol and talk to the people in the pub and give them a good message. does that sound okay? or does it sound sinful? by the way, you cannot be a muslim if you do not believe in hadiths, because the hadiths are the doings and sayings of our prophet, so if you follow muhammad (pbuh) then you should be following the hadiths because it is the sunna

  • why should be guitar haram..when u play/say something what not out of Islam is... all music instruments r allowed, but it must be played to the way of Islam(not something what is in islam not allowed) and Yusuf Islam done a gr888 job....

Islam is only for Allah... so people dont quarrel each other... u hav to responsible for ur self to allah... not to the people...

  • Guitar IS out of islam!

  • humm...u know im a former guitarist... alhamdulilah im out of this now.Guitar, Music, Crazy life, Party all r footsteps of Devil..they r not directly forbidden but they take us away(after some time) from ISLAM.Alhamdulilah brother im out of this now but we cant say Guitar(Everything of Music) IS out of ISLAM but its show us the way to go out of ISLAM..i pray to Allah everybody get the Hedayah from Allah subhanatala like me... -Assalamualikum

  • i tink muslim wated too much time on this is haram, this is not, this is bid3a ,this is not. i wish they could get off their ignorant ass and start something constructive. progress and developement are the answer to thei shitty situation. music is art and art is noble. you can write songs about the prophet, you can praise god.you can sing about issues. guitar is haram, what a dumb thing to say and the most stupid is to ask an imam who think non muslims would go to hell.

  • you actually think non-muslims will go to paradise. Sorry for asking out of curiousity but are you a muslim?

  • i am an aalim from SA and the only reason i came to this website was to confirm a remark that i had heard about yusuf islam using the guitar.i then happen to come across your comments.i suggest you research this topic from your local ulema who would furnish you with the correct understanding thereof.the majority of our jurists hold this viewpoint.

  • your profile says you are from South AFRICA, not Saudi Arabia (this for others who may get confused), and says you've visited 5 videos thus far on this username.

  • Yes,there are aalims in SA too.the fact that i may have visited 5 videos, if you are correct, proves nothing.Fearing Allah, please state which videos i have seen.i dnt want to argue with you but simply state the truth.those who pay heed are the fortunate ones.

  • in islam music using mucical instruments is prohibited with the exception of the duff.this is the viewpoint of the majority of jurists and has been for the past 1428 yrs.Nabi(saw) stated that he had been sent to destroy musical instruments hence in the light of such clear warnings and prohibitations, how can we say music is permissible just because the singer is a muslim?

  • I disagree with you. What I wonder about all you Muslims who are so anti-instrument is what you are doing even watching the video here. If you think it is haram, then why are you subjecting yourself to it at all? BTW, you might want to visit Yusuf Islam's Mountain of Light site and read "Music: a Question of Faith or Da'wah" for an alternate opinion to yours.

  • Is this hadith sahih? Imam Al-Ghazzali permits all instruments as long as the music (lyrics) is halal. There is no unequevocal(mubayyin) ayah in the Qur'an which forbids music in all its forms.

  • Astaghfirullah! May Allah forgive him and all the people that listened to this including me. Guitar and ALL Instruments in Islam is TOTALLY Haraam. Duff drum is considered by some Ulama. It dosn't matter wether it vibrates or not - All instruments (ex. duff) is COMPLETELY HARAAM!!!

May Allah forgive us all. Ameen.

  • So my fellow Muslim... did you bother to read further into the comments where Alenephoenix was drawn to our faith by Yusuf Islam's music? So was I. Please explain to me how opening non-Muslims' minds to conversion to Islam is haram.

  • yes my fellow muslim, but this is not the way to invite into islam. you cannot use bad to make a good. this is not the true way to give da'wah, in fact its a disgrace! if we start playing guitars and dance (dawud wharnsby) like them, then what is the difference left between us?

  • you have to integrate to modern world, even if playing guitar is sin,you think.then dont't even use internet.what are you doing here?

  • I know, the 21st century is wonderful isn't it? I bet your not even married too! you might even be homosexual! that's 'modern world' isn't it? am i wrong? tell me what is the difference between you and the non-muslims? we should be an example to them

  • So my fellow Muslim... the day I converted to Islam, I was warned that I could not judge the faith of Islam by the behavior of Muslims. Personally I'd choose Yusuf Islam's behavior over yours any day of the week. He is not self righteous. And the difference between us is that your behavior puts people off instead of beckoning them to our faith. And although I am a convert, I understand that Allah swt is the only Judge of our true intention. So in judging others, you commit shirk.

  • it's just between me and Allah, you cannot judge me!this is the problem of the islamic states, people like to judge others with the name of Allah.and now you are slandering me and breaking my heart saying this all-do you think this is haraam or playing guitar?radical islamists kill people with the name of Allah and they also say singing is Haraam,ironic..

  • homosexuality has existed since the old Testament of the Jews-- and probably before! It isn't a modern thing.

  • OK! I'm American. Didn't know anything of Islam. But Yusuf's singing made me curious. Found the TRUTH! Mashallah. Now I am preparing for Shahada, I can't see how beautiful music, inspired by Allah, as haram! The Qu'ran doesn't say this. We naturally want to sing, to Praise Allah & do so in beauty! Why not use it to invite/teach others? -dovetrees

  • Best of luck with islam , i am a canadian muslim. You are right , spiritually lifting music with praises of allah is totally allowerd. Do not listen to the narrow minded people...:). Welcome to Islam, pray regularly and stay happy!

  • allah jirda alleh proud of him

  • another point to be noted its an acoustic guitar and not an electric guitar, maybe the voice that it produces is less repulsive than the voice produced by electric guitar, in islam. So maybe its allowed but i still have doubts about it. I personally have a bad feeling about guitars n musical instruments.

  • Sahih Bukhari : the Prophet said, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful... Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection.

  • Please tell me where I might find this in the Qu'ran.

  • Dear Alenephoenix, my fellow traveler to the TRUTH, welcome. As soon as you accept the TRUTH of Islam in your heart and mind, you have already become Muslim. The Shahada is just a formality.

  • dont listen to them, they are fanatic religious people.they are just frightening the people who's not muslim.if i wasn'T muslim i wouldnt convert islam reading this comments in which say everything is haraam.

  • At the end of the day i am nobody to tell you this. I stongly recommend you to use askimam dot com to prove me wrong. please forgive me.

  • Actually I prefer use Qur'an and Sunnah...

  • JAK for your concern. As a convert, I am well acquainted with those who have reduced our faith to a set of stringent rules and mindless rituals. Pride goeth before a fall.

  • my behaviour is telling people that the guitar isn't allowed in islam and this will put non-muslims off? of course it will! which non-muslim will like islam because it prevents you from playing the guitar? none. Also i'm not saying singing is wrong. i like nasheeds very much ut the guitar s haraam. askimam dot com

  • Thanks to Allah for ALL of you! :) I do want the straight Path, and the Qu'ran says that the true Faith is written on our hearts as babies,, that's probably why I feel the pull so much! Plus, I love the idea of so much prayer, fasting, dawah, and the daily use of words that remind us inshallah, that Allah is in charge, not us silly humans!! Love you all.

  • i personally dont thing any kind of musical instruments shud be used other than the "duff", guitar is a lil too far cuz it provokes us to dance which cud lead to illegal thoughts. I would like a clear cut answer to that mayb he used guitar to gather a friendly environment for the non-muslims attendin the ceremony.

  • Narrated Abu 'Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari: that he heard the Prophet saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful... Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection. (Book #69, Hadith #494v)

  • Yes i know that hadith thankyou for posting it again bro but i would like to know why he used guitar infront of the audience once again, i thought Yusuf islam left music. What was the sole purpose of him using it again ...? Did u see this video clip?

  • the hadith was meant for general viewing and not a rebuttal to your view

  • ok then :)

  • Yusuf said that hed become Orthodox at first till he knew enough, but now, <i>if the music is inspired, on special times like a birth, or traveler coming from afar, that the Prophet (Pbuh) encouraged healthy entertainment then, & that he believes his embrace of Islam was so abrupt that many who might have also embraced Islam but did not, & now he hopes to amend that.

  • i've heard that Syaikh Yusuf Al-Qardhawi stated that this is a hadith dha'if.. which means we can follow it by right but not used it as a prove(hujjah)

  • "Say, "Who prohibited the nice things God has created for His creatures, and the good provisions?" Say," such provisions are to be enjoyed in THIS life by those who BELIEVE. Moreover, the good provisions will be exclusively theirs on the Day of resurrection." We thus explain the revelations for people who know." 7:32 (QURAN)

Say: They are, in the life of this world, for those who believe, (and) purely for them on the Day of Judgment. Thus do We explain the signs in detail for those who understand.

  • sorry for these comments. i misread "Who" as "We" :) sorry :) my apologies.

  • Oh, this is the best example I can find and completely agree with. The nasheeds and songs from Yusuf Islam brought my attention to the Faith! Planning Shahada now, Inshallah, because, I heard his music. Tell me that the prophet (pbuh) would say that is a bad thing. I am American, had nobody I knew Muslim. The Deen of Islam is the most powerful way I have found, if not distorted by haters, to peace. -dovetrees

  • This song is great!!!! I really enjoyed this video. I hope that more videos like this will come out!!

  • muslims invented guitar.

  • explain this..

  • muslims did not invent it, they introduced it to Europe. read its history on wikipedia.

  • so who invented the guitar? if muslims introduced it to europe they would invent it.

you're explanation is not a good explanation.

  • Isn't playing musical instruments like the guitar haram in islam?

  • Some believe so. It is the sign of the end of days. Yusuf islam stopped playing guitar for many years, now he has began again. But yes, muslims did invent the guitar. And I personally dont think it is haram. it is a way to express yourself :)

  • Bad sound quality, and the tempo seems a bit faster than the album original, godd song though

  • agreed..
