I commented about this recording over a year ago when I first heard it. Tonight, listening to it for the umpteenth time, I feel constrained to comment again. As one of the greatest fanatics about the music of this era, I think this one recording combines so many absolutely marvelous features -- great melody, great orchestration, and fantastic solo bits. In an era that had some much great music this should be in everyone's top 100 -- and will always be in my top ten.

wenn man überlegt, dass die musiker usw., die da alle mitwirken, schon vermutlich alle tot sind ist es schon großartig, dass es noch originale tondokumente gibt....

ich fänd's auf jeden fall ziemlich cool, wenn ich meinen urgroß- oder großvater da singen hören würde.....

und dann noch mit so einem schmiß, obwohl das lied ja nicht besonders flott ist... aber es hat eben den totalen originalen charme der alten zeit....

Es spielt mit großer Warscheinlichkeit Paul Godwin, der Orchesterklang lässt darauf schließen. Eine Grammophon-Matrize ist es auf jeden Fall, was am charakteristischem Pfeifton gegen Ende des Liedes festzustellen ist.
