I'm sort of glad the Beast didn't have his own song. It wasn't needed. The one verse does what an entire song would do: It shows us the Beast's human self and he instantly feels much more like a human because of it. Its just a tiny peak into his true self, anymore would have taken away the mystery of the character.

@tiredofphailspelling I agree! But I think they certainly modeled the eyes, but as for the Prince's looks, I believe they were going for a Michelangelo style in his looks. If you look at the old paintings, his image appears very Renaissance. :)

I can't see him actually doing the voice in my head. I keep lookin for videos showing him actually doing it but no luck. He must be really talented cauz he has the most gentle and non rough voice in interviews.

@xNatalie24x I know what you mean. RB scrapbook here from my other channel. I have a very quick clip of Robby talking that shows him doing the voice. Called 'Yes, Robby Benson is 'The beast' They should have added more behind the scenes and interviews with him, but that's all that was on the 2000 release.

My teen age crush on Robby Benson in the mid 70's has resurfaced! at age 47 I have a little girl about to turn 3 and I got "Beauty and the Beast. I knew right away it was his voice! I love this so much it brought me to tears. the memories his voice brought up touched my heart. I made my daughter watch beauty and the beast 3 times in two days LOL. Thank heavens for computers and You tube!

I really wish they had put the song the beast sings in the musical, 'If I cant love her", with Benson singing in the movie. It would have been AWESOME!!!!!

I wish he would have had his own song too, The broadway song hadn't been written when this movie came out...though they could have went back and added it, hehe. The film had already cut the 'Human Again' number from the original. When I saw the updated version years ago, I fell in love with that number, so glad they restored it. Thanks for the comment. :)

I like this song. But how did they get the Beast's voice so low? Robby's singing voice and speaking voice as the Prince is a little higher than the Beasts is. Did they do something to his voice or did Robby just go down a few octaves? I'm curious??...

I think the singing was all Robby, he just went down a few octaves. I've heard him sing other songs and his voice can get deep. I know when it came to the beast, they did mingle his voice with real animal growls. But the Prince was all him, just trying to sound light and fluffy.

So the parts where Beast is actually speaking, that is actually Robby Benson talking without any help from voice synthesizers making it deep? Thats hittin' some low octaves there... Just WOW!

Hi again! I meant to say that where he is singing is all Robby without synthesizers, but the speaking parts and growls were mixed with real animal growls, I'm sure he made his voice as deep as it possibly could go, but they had to get that animal quality. :)

no, he just made the voice like that. he can go pretty low. i guess thats why they hired him as the beast. cause he can go higher and lower

Isn;t it great that the animators at Disney used his eyes when they were drawing the Beast! Robby's blue eyes just go right thru ya.
