  • Zip ties for the motor? Oo Thats damgerous...

  • @shebotnov, you have no idea how strong zip ties is.

  • Are zip ties strong enough to hold those motors in their correct position? I want to use trex booms or wood and I'm wondering the best way to connect motors to frame. Also, how much does your quad weigh without battery?

  • @speedsterwinston, yes the zip ties are strong enough, there's very little reaction between the zip ties and the boom, remember the boom always goes w/ it when the motor pulls. Unless you tie the boom to the ground and instantly applying full throttle. I like it better than screwing the motor on the boom, as it splits the wood when I had a bad landing. Zip ties would just compensate and get disalign, I just have to re-align it back. I forgot the weight of the quad, i'll post later.

  • Pretty good design. I used TREX tail booms for my arms, they are a lot lighter than wood, so I was able to use longer arms, and mount my motors in the middle of the arm. It protects my props from rough landings. Also if you used a CD-FROM canister in place of the black plate, you will be able to cover all the sensitive electronics.

  • @Nomoreidsleft, thanks for the comment... yes, the cdrom canister is great, but I have better than cdrom canister... its a thin plastic food container from supermarket... from the salad bar... its very light... i'll post a video later. its diameter fits exactly on the top plate, and its removable. i'll upload some vids later. :)
