  • One question on shotgun shells. How long do they last ? I have been told they only last 5 years . I had a box that was bought around 1989 and kept inside the house and not one miss fire . So are they like rifle shells, 30 to 50 years or more and still work fine ? Great videos . Best on youtube. Thank you .

  • RON PAUL 2012!!!!

  • My grandpa gave me his 1963 model 1100 in 12 gauge for Xmas

  • hey how much does it cost to re blue a gun and clean off all rust?

  • just picked one up today in 12 gauge. $350 used and in great condition

  • This or versa max and why?

  • And my 12 looks just like that but the wood is a little darker i dont know if that is the camera but it looks kinda light in color

  • Ive got the 12 gauge model 26" barrel shoots like a dream. Perfect gun for skeet. I also had a remigton 1100 in 20 gauge with a 28" but I cut the barrel down to 18" and use it for a home defence gun

  • These are wonderful guns, my dad had one in a 12 gauge. My brother was shooting targets with it, and it misfired and set off the shell mid way through the cycle. It blew the entire receiver and breach apart. He was not hurt, but the gun is a write off. Bolt is stuck pushed back bout 1/2 inch farther than it should go,stock is shattered, both sides of the receiver push out 1 inch, etc. And this is not an old worn out gun either, its a very early one, less than 100 shells through it. Was mint.

  • is it a lot quieter than the 12 gauge

  • I love my remington 1100 12 gadge!!! its great

  • I have the exact same gun but I just pull the bolt back but one in press the button in and its easier to load

  • i find it to be less finicky if you just depress the button using the top edge of the shell, its smoother and seems to be a more dependable method of loading

  • we need an 1100 auto in 16 ga with a 26 inch barrel for upland birds

  • What do gauges means?

  • @FightingSpirt Gauge is the size of the shell. It's like the bullet of the shotgun world (but called a shell) The 3 most common gauges are .410, 20, and 12 gauge. It's weird but the smaller the number of the gauge, the bigger the bullet. So a 12 gauge is bigger than lets say a 16 or a 28 gauge. Hope this helped! Have a nice day :D

  • i got 16 gauge one so it has to come in 16 gauge too

  • wow i fell in love with this gun thank you sir for showing us all about this gun ima try to see if i can get me one of these babies

  • i got the same gun but 12 gage. i gotta say the thing is so much fun shootin

  • Great vid!!!! but i was wondering what the maxium shell/ammo capacity is?

  • When you are loading the shell you have to push the button to get the shell in is it like that on all semi auto shotguns or just this one in particular

  • yea theres no recoil hardly

  • Got one. 12 guage, short stock, sawed off barrel

  • They come in 16 gauge as well

  • and 16 gauge

  • when i load mine, i hold my left thumb down on that little realese, then load right my right hand, just a time saving tip if you wanted one!

  • thanks as always, sootch. my grandfather gave me one when i finished 8th grade. i've taken countless dove and squirrels with it, not to mention clays.

  • great vid bo. i got the same gun from the early 80s , going dove hunting in manning SC tommorrow and im using my rem. 1100 12ga

  • Loading the 1100 is not a pain in the butt if you use the nose of the round to press down instead of the rear

  • 1:35

Those plastic transparent (italian?) dummy rounds are shit, i've broke all of the rim off one running it through my Remington 870, cracked another so much that the red bottom didn't stay in the shell and flew out by the spring pressure. Also, they use brass snap surfaces which will dent like primers, just slower.

  • I own a 12 gauge version, it is an amazing firearm

  • how many barrels can it contain?

  • a guy i know wants to trade my sks for his rem 1100,.. should i do it?

  • @shinnecockwarrior

FUCK no ,stick with the sk and put on a cheap extendo

    wooooooooooooooooooo!!

  • @RealHeemTeam yea.. i turned him down especially after seeing the north Hollywood bank robbers video i wouldn't want to have a shotgun if people are shooting at me with assault rifles!... shotgun rounds don't go through body armor and also what is it like 5 to 7 shots compared to a 30 round mag..keep the shotguns for the bedroom/home defense!.

  • @shinnecockwarrior

Normal 12 gauge slugs will go through almost any normal body armour.

Also, with shot you could always aim for the face or legs.

  • @jhiggi28 no what?.. dont trade him?

  • my 12 gauge 1100 kicks like no other

  • Comment removed

  • These are nice shotguns! I have an 1100 12 gauge made in 1975, and it is a blast to shoot.

  • what year was that 1100 made in?

  • how many shells does the gun hold?

  • if u have a browning a-5 lying around id love for u to do a head to head between the 2, i have a feeling the a-5 will win in quality but id like to know how u feel about the recoil systems

  • Have a 1910 Remington auto loading shotgun. Also, have a 1967 870 Wingmaster with 2 barrels.

  • own that exact same gun all original parts :)

  • If you will use the nose the shell to depress the bolt release then it will be easier to load the magazine. Use the nose and let the shell slide forward into the mag.

  • Quick question: Can you release the bolt from the rearward position by pulling the bolt handle backwards? Or do you HAVE to push the bolt release button?

  • my dream gun is a remington 1100 in 410

  • oh and my gun also look exactly like yours but i found the pistol grip on the stalk comfterable did you

  • ive got one of these modles but in 16 gauge on 12 gauge frame my grandfather gave me for my 13th birthday and i love this gun espicaly with hte 28 inch barrle and you also for got to mention the 16 gauge modle relased in 1964 after the others

  • in Resident Evil 2, this shotgun seems to be very powerful, does it shoot more powerful shells?

  • I'm an artist/animator that's currently working on a game, which among other guns will starr the Remington 1100. This was a great aid in understanding the loading. Wonderful piece and Big thanks!

  • I am 12, just shot it my first time today. AWESOME

  • Excellent video i have a remington 1100 skeet with all the engraving and chequering bought it from my firearms dealer here in the uk for 150 pounds for rabbit shooting at night and think its the best gun ive ever shot nice i have the twelve bore which i find hardly kicks at all which is great considering im shooting rabbits from the backseat of a quad bike lol thanks for the video was very informative

  • do ypu like this better tahn the 11-87

  • sory forgot the 16 gauge modle

  • you got got the 16 gauge modle which i own

  • it looks like its getting away from you im 13 and that thing is like shooting a 22 i dont know wy its giving you soo much recoil

  • @TheUtahUtes no it doesnt feel like your shooting a .22 it kicks but in 20 gauge it doesnt hurt at all

  • neat video have a 1910 remington auto Loader 12 Ga humpback.

  • i know who to barrow a gun when a zombie out breack comes lol

  • yo man that is a bad ass shot gun. how much would one of those go for ?

  • I have that exact gun mine is the american model not sure if that one is most are made in korea...it was one of the first produced and berely a mark on it it has only been fired a couple times not one fade or marking on the finish only it is the 28 inch 12 gauge...my favourite gun by far picked it up from my friends dad for 200 bucks...he mies well have given it to me! got it appraised at about 1000 bucks!..so physced to put more hours on it! good to see other people enjoy them.

  • i have the same gun only mine is 12g and i modded it so it can have 6 shells at once, i also have a break down, sngle shot 410

  • nice,I've got one justlike it,bought around '66 for about $150, aweaome gun, has killed lots of pats&pheasants. hard to find barrels for those 20's made before '77. that's a 20 made on a true 12 receiver.

  • I have had my 1100 for 35 years and have never had a problem with it. Hands down one of the best shotguns you can buy.

  • if you like this gun come look at a review mag dump, and target shooting at this video and its much cleaner too on 180boyz channel also see other reviews including a mossberg 835 ulti mag

  • they come in 16 gauge 2

  • i have this same gun i called remington and mines 1970 it looks super similar to this one except its a 12 ga, great gun.

  • can you saw it off

  • @interpol120 why would u want to saw it off a fuck up a pice of art

  • i have an older one

  • To bad they dont make this gun anymore. I have one and its great. Made in 68. Mine was. Still use it to this day.

  • I have a derringer pistol that can shoot .410 gauge shells. but it doesn't really make sense why .410 shells cost more than 12gauge shells. otherwise I'd probly shoot it more.

  • this is the kind of video Im looking for thanks for making it

  • When I load my shotgun I push the button down with the end of the shell and slide it in. Makes it a lot easier for me. :) I love your vids. Where abouts in South Carolina do you live if you don't mind me asking. I was born down there and I hunt down there near Shaw A.F.B.

  • i bet your house will never get robbed!

  • Yes now i know im not the only one with the older version!

  • there is also a 16 gauge

  • no. There's a 10 gauge.

  • Fuck that water bottle up.

  • what is the most powerful guage

  • @MrZabzab12 the 12

  • @MrZabzab12 well out of all bores the 0 bore is the most powerfull but its only used on the railing of ships because you dont wanna be behind the gun but definately not in front of it it can take out a whole pond of birds in 1 shot!

  • @MrZabzab12 10 gauge but te biggest thus gun is made is 12.

  • It is not named 410 gauge :)

  • they have 16 guage to

  • I have a bond arms derringer pistol that can shoot .410. But it doesn't make sense why .410 shells cost more than .12 gauge shells.

  • @daleboyrdm there harder to make i guess

  • Don't point the gun a me again, TV freak! Or I'll find you!

  • with that shotgun does everyone have a dimand on the bottom of the stock? I really want to know because i own one that my dad gave to me and i thought that it was only made on a few... please respond. well it a 12 ga that i own

  • with that shotgun does everyone have a dimand on the bottom of the stock? I really want to know because i own one that my dad gave to me and i thought that it was only made on a few... please respond.

  • The Remington Auto Loaders are great. I have a Winchester Model 12 20 gage shotgun that once belong to my late father. I am a 12 gage however, the Winchester Model 12 is excellent Pheasent and Rabbit gun. Its very light and comforable on my shoulder. Only now Winchester no longer makes 20 gage shotguns expect for their over and under but you will not find brand new Winchester pump 20 gage gun shop anymore.

  • i have a remington 1187 premier 20 GA and i love it

  • is this still at walmart?

  • could you get a mag extension on that for like shooting hand-thrown clays?

  • @SuperR3volver Yes, there are mag tube extensions for the 1100. Excellent addition. Thanks~

  • i have a ducks unlmited 1100 that will shoot 3'' shells. have kad no problem with mine. great gun..........

  • there is a 100 times better way to load the gun,and its actually not a pain in the but...and ill tell u how!instead of puttin the shell in flat in the magazine..u gotta push the button with the but of the shell and when it gos dwn just slide it easily in! try it next time man cuz i can tell u were havin some trouble

  • you r suppost 2 load the chamber first so when you load the tube you dont have to manually cycle bolt

  • @aus824 So you want to drop a round in the chamber then load the magazine?

  • sir can you tell me whats the difference between the auto loading shot gun and the semi auto shotgun or is it the same lol im new to this.

  • @ko0b Yes, it is the same. Auto loading means firing the round automatically loads another round into the chamber rather than manually loading one as in a pump or bolt action shotgun. So the Semi-auto and Auto-loading shotguns are one in the same. Thanks~

  • what about the 10 gauge?

  • when you said that i could get one in inverness, i guess it did'nt occour to you what age i am? im 13 really, just so you know, and ill be commenting on lots of your videos, god bless america as well!

  • I used to have a 12 gauge 1100T that my uncle let me borrow when I started competitive trap shooting. What a beautiful gun. It was a wedding gift that my aunt's mother gave to them when they got married. He still has it and I hope he hasn't gotten rid of it!

  • lol i like how the dog barks after he fires quickly

  • you know weve got a browning auto 5 .12g same design as that but no bolt release safety thing i noticed you had a remington model 5 or something thats a clone of the auto 5, sadly no longer made the silver hunter has replaced it and if you were yo use the 1100 for home defence it would be terrible cause of the safety things but all and all a beautiful gun im looking into buying my father one for christmas. keep up the good vids dude.

  • I do believe that gauge is the number of lead balls the same diameter as the bore that equals 1 pound. So for a 12 guage it takes 12 lead balls of that bore diameter to egual a pound.

  • I'm a competitive trap shooter, and the 28 gauge is not what is used maybe in skeet. 12 gauge is the most popular, with a little bit of 20's for younger kids and women.

  • love the vids, u need a new theme song though that one got annoying lol.

  • Can never thank you enough for this kind of awesome info! :)

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Sootch. gauge refers to the number of steel balls of the diameter of the bore that would equal 1 pound. 12g = 12 balls of that size, 20g = 20 balls of that size, etc. Obviously, .410 is not on this same system, if it were we would call it a 68 gauge because you would need 68 steel balls of that diameter to equal 1 pound.

A bit of useless gun trivia for you!

  • Another cool review . . . well done Sootch! I always learn something interesting from your videos.

  • Thanks sootch, good vid. I own four, two 1100's in 12, one in 20mag and an 1187 in 12. The oldest one is 37yrs old and still going strong, never had a failure to feed or shoot. Please keep up the good work.

  • I'm not sure if anyone has posted this already, but when I took my hunter's ed class, my instructor told me "gauge" was determined by taking a 1 lb lead sphere, and dividing it into a certain number of equal parts. A 12 gauge is a 1 lb lead sphere divided into 12 parts. The size of 1/12 of the ball made into a sphere would be the diameter of a 12 gauge barrel. The other gauges follow the same principle.

  • The first shotgun i ever fired was a model 1100. Testing trap, hitting only 2 out 20. Though I suspect that it was not the guns fault for my poor preformance.

God bless Norway, with the second highest gun consentration in the world, and one of the lowest murder rates in the modern world.

  • now I know why my 870 has that funny cut out on the the shell lifter. They are probably all made at the same factory on the same press so they all have the cutout for the button.

I want one of these! Long live the republic!

  • too bad it takes longer to load than it does to unload

  • One thought re: discussion at 2:00 -- the .410 shot shell has surged in popularity in the last few years, as HANDGUN ammunition. Taurus is selling a boatload of their funky-looking Judge revolvers, which can fire .45 Colt cartridges or .410 shotshells. Manufacturers like Federal and Winchester are coming out with new .410 loads optimized for use in short barreled firearms like the Judge.

I'm not sure a Judge with .410 is all that for self defense, but they ARE great portable snake repellants!

  • Ah, that's a nice older gun that's seen some honest use.

Shooting a 20 gauge is delightful in a gas-system, autoloading shotgun like the 1100! Softens the recoil.

Sadly, my Remington 11-87 (a similar gun) in 20 ga just would NOT run reliably. I had to sell it. Kinda soured me on the reliability of semi-auto shotguns compared to the over/unders, or the good old pump action.

  • Lol, the Nestle Pure Life water bottle is now Nestle Pure Dead, hehe

  • Great review! Was considering getting one....

  • good stuff, as always!

  • You're Scottish???

  • Brother Sootch, I'm sure someone has already mentioned it, but you'll want to use the front edge of the shell to depress the shell ramp. I makes it very fast and efficient. I grew up hunting with one and ran about 40,000 rounds through a 12ga ll00 during a two year period of clays competition. Thanks so much for all of your wonderful vids. You've been an inspiration to me over the past year.

  • I never looked at the gas system on one of those before. It is just a pump action shotgun, but the gas does the pumping, lol. That is nice and simple. Good, simple is good. Thanks for showing us a wonderful looking shotgun. I am more into funtion then form, but sometimes you can get both.

  • My dad is sold to the .410. Hare and partridge. It's a good caliber for someone who is proficient, possibly less damage to your catch.

Very nice shotgun, thanks for uploading this one for us. Cheers!

  • ✭✭✭✭✭

  • i'd love to get one in 410

  • Sootch I have a model 58 in 20 gauge. That is the predisessor to the 1100..

  • This is why I like my Mossberg 590 better lol, there's no loading gate you have to push down, the shells just go right in! But I'm very fond of the Remington 1100, very soft recoil (The few times I've shot it atleast). Nonetheless though i'm a pump-action man!

  • Its easier to load the shells by using the front of the shell to compress the tab on the follower. It is easier than trying to push the tab with the brass of the shell. I've been using the Rem 1100 Classic Trap to shoot trap and I love the shotgun, no malfunctions!

  • Great shotguns. I have two of them. Both from late 60's or early 70's. One in 20 and one in 12ga. Thanks very nice.

  • My brother has one of those in 12 ga 3" mag.

  • how about god bless scotland? we need more guns...

  • @destylewis Hey Brother, my family is originally from Sutherland so my heart goes to Scotland as well. God bless Scotland with better gun laws!

  • @sootch00 i was kidding but thanks!

  • @sootch00 Hey, my ancestors are from Scotland and their last name was Sutherland. I think they might have owned Sutherland castle if my parents told me right.

  • @destylewis You can buy this in Scotland. There is a shop up in Inverness called J Grahams and Co and they have one for £195 (its so cheap because they are frowned upon). All it takes is the time and £50 to get the shotgun certificate oh and cant have been to court for any crimes or have a record.

  • This was the first shotgun I ever fired. One of my favorite childhood memories was going to my uncles place and shooting his 20 ga 1100

  • we use the tacical version of that shotgun in the mexican marines

  • whats the diferance between the 1187 and 1100?

  • Youth and ladies? Way to make me feel inadequate, Sootch. The Texas dove's have another reason to laugh at me this season :)

  • Can you get a shorter barrel for that gun?

  • Its called a 10,12.20 or 28 gauge because it takes 10,12,20,or 28 lead balls the size of the bore to make a pound.

  • The Gauge/bore size systeme is derived from how many round balls of that size you get from one poud of lead, 12gauge = 12 balls, 20gauge = 20 balls.

The systeme stops when you get to 410 which is an inch caliber like .50bmg, .45ACP, .44 Magnum and so on.

  • I love the 1100, 24 inch rifled Hastings barrel + 2 and 3/4 inch sluggs (it can take 3") = epic win. Even out to 100 yds! I have not been able to shoot it further than that because thats the max distance available at my local range =( The only malfunction I have had is a stove pipe the first time I shot it. . . but thats because it had just been sitting in my dads gun safe for the past 20 years and it hadnt been lubed, I just sprayed so remoil in the action and it was back to 100%

  • very nice.

  • Though always over priced:(

  • The 1100 tried and true!

  • That's a good looking shotgun, sootch00. Always a great and educational video, man! Thanks for sharing, partner :))

  • by 4 and 1, is that 4 rounds fit in the tube plus one in the chamber?

  • As always sootch, great video. Very nicely done and great choice of subject matter. The Remington 1100 is indeed an American classic.

  • Does yours have a serial number?

  • I've got the same exact gun in .12 gauge and I love this gun

  • The 12 gauge 1100 magnum was the first gun my dad ever bought me... I was 12. Put hair on my chest. :D

  • 5:50 This is a good video! :)

  • Excellent review.

  • Nice review Sootch00, thats a great dove hunting gun.

  • 1:30, thank you.

  • PS. mine has an 3way adjustable choke and a rail to boot.

  • how much is that gun and do they sell them in gun store's still?

  • I have the Montgomery Wards version of this gun, 12ga., 30 years old and still shoots like a champ. FTE is rare, maybe 1:200 and I have NEVER cleaned it. I just keep it stored properly in its original soft case. nice weapon.

  • cool gun ! one of my fav.

  • What a great older Remington 1100. I really enjoyed your thoughts on this classic.

"Once you get the hang of it, it's still a pain in the butt" : )

  • Is it the same as the Benelli M1 where you can place a round in the chamber and press that small bolt release button without firing the round? I'm thinking tactical reload when the gun is completely empty with the bolt back. Throw a round in the chamber, release the bolt, and continue loading rounds into the magazine.

  • @jnjulie it has no bolt release button, but with a completely empty gun, you can draw the bolt back, place a round in the chamber, release the bolt and then continue loading the magazine.
