Priests not only partook in child abuse but also terrorism. Fr Patrick Fell served more than 10 years in an English jail over a conspiracy to cause explosions. Fr James Chesney was a member of the IRA unit that left three 'no warning' bombs in the Co Derry village in July 1972. Nine people including THREE CHILDREN were killed.

Priests Burns, Chesney & Fell were all allowed to continue to serve in the Priesthood AFTER those crimes, just like the child abusers were!

I personally know a Catholic Priest, a wonderful man, whom I have heard from other sources who know him, that he once took a flight and was seated next to another Catholic Priest. They got to talking about their own history in the Church which inevitably led them to discuss why they joined the Church in the first place.

The Catholic Priest I know asked the other: "So, why did you join the Church."

The other Catholic Priest responded, "So I could destroy it from the inside."

@gwalj I agree with you. I am not catholic, but I do agree with your statement. The only thing that is disappointing to me (and I'm sure many other catholics) is that for years the organization of the RCC didn't do much to pull the plug on the situation (maybe because many didn't know, or maybe because they knew but didn't want to involve people in a scandal.). What's unfortunate is that the great majority of priests who are genuine wrongly get a bad name.

Pope Benedict recently said something about this, the Pope said that there are things that have to happen before Our Lord returns (cant recall exact words). What I tend to see is we appear to be living in a time of an apostacy. The insults hailed against Our Lord.

People often confuse Catholics as not teaching the end of days. I am a 52 year old cradle catholic and I still laugh when I hear this. Our religion is base on that Jesus died and was resurrected and will come in glory to judge the living and the dead. We all have a end of life.If that time is at the end of days or 1,000 years before we will all see the last day.

John Paul2 believed we are living in the last days. He declared before he was Pope that the Antichrist is alive
