The use of location is brilliant, the things i think you could improve on is better actors (as lets face it, they were something you'd see on the sci-fi channel if your lucky) and then use of shots, the use fo long shot is good o show his isolation, however I felt you could of shown more clsoe ups to show his age and his emotion, and maybe cut earlier on certain shots. But nevertheless, a good attempt of a post-apocalyptic!
I really like your concept. You can go far with this idea. I also liked the cinematography, your DP did a good job showing us this bleak and desolate world. Good sound, some decent acting from the boardroom man and fantastic acting from the old man.
I am not a big fan of the editing, there were plenty of times where I was bored and wanted to see something else. I also think this story can be told in seven minutes.
Hi I'm an asshole whose opinion doesn't matter. I just wanted to say that I'm going to ignore the entire aesthetic, every detail you've obviously slaved over, and the wonderful feel and atmosphere this piece has, and recommend (for no uncertain reason) that you need to "make the color correction darker" so it looks more like some generic DSLR piece of trash.
Good. We are doing now a similar film (which will be my second short film) but in that film the main character doesn't seek redemption only memories from the past. Like if he was in a deep sleep and when he awake he realize nothing left just ruins.
So bittersweet! I studied plants in college and I'll soon be participating in a horticultural program, so this really tugged at my heartstrings. Great work!
@TrapzHD Everyones entitled to their own opinion, However ill just say. 1) the grade we went for is dark, But not too dark as to make it a scary "Horror" film. I was very careful to make sure that this film wasn't just a solo version of "The Road" which is very dark. More i wanted the world to look like a planet devoid of life. like the world is one big desert.
2) the film was expertly graded at Park Road Post by a colorist who has worked on all lord of the rings films. Just sayin! :)
@strangentertainment The grading on this is really bad. Im surprised if he worked on lord of the rings. That cant be true. However its shot nicely, the actings bad though. Dont get me wrong! Over all its a brilliant piece of work.
@colinisavirgin How is it bad? Can you be more descriptive? Because I see accurate skin tones and wide dynamic range, it is color corrected, grading refers to applying a color "look", which this does not have. I've been a professional photographer for the last 10 years, I am just curious as to what you are seeing. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess nothing, since even your terminology is used incorrectly.
@strangentertainment haha awesome response , and also im a film student... how did u get those older actors ? were they actors or pepole you know ?!?!? awesome job man.. im in Australia :D
@strangentertainment your points here were valid, however in film you have to except any and all in the way of critique, you don't know whether or not the person who commented is a professional director who who was offering an opinion, most likely though he wasn't, but what if a director was too see his point and your reaction and not offer a expert opinion on your film assuming you'd respond like that,
Btw I think your short film here was excellent, but colour grading could do with some work.
@strangentertainment haha just some people like to insult good work bud. I'm sure you know what's good and what's not. Some people like to tear down good work to make their own more tolerable. Good film, well done.
this is true film. story told perfectly and beautifuly....and yet the big shots who call themselves directors can't even make such a gripping fantastic story with out some kind of effect, bravo my friend bravo
Fantastic!!! The 2 Dislikes are from people who don't understand the Art of Story Telling. I hope you enter this into Many festivals. You would win hands down!
@funnyfunnySHIT12345 Shot in Christchurch, New Zealand... Some a days shooting done at an old rundown malt works. a day at a gravel pit.... just random places around christchurch that looked good.
It would be kinda good to film there now like with some pretty damaged sights, I'm from NZ and lived in Christchurch for a good 6 years before moving to Queenstown, but there are some REALLY good places to film in Christchurch :) hoping to go back to NZ sometime soon, wanna make a film, :/ miss the place
Great but time for a STRANG ENTERTAINMENT feature length film. U have the uncanny ability to make the audience believe and love the characters even when it's as outrageous as 2 hit men killing there best mates girlfriend because she was annoying
well done film. the end was very moving and the whole film captured a bleak post-apocalyptic feel to the tee (as far as i can imagine). Keep 'em coming!
I liked the message you were showing in the film. Was it inspired by...Monsanto? lol. If only we could have encouraged the real scientists who stuffed up our food supply to do what this guy did at the end of the film, before they thought of their stupid ideas...the world would be a much better place. Keep up the good work. I have subscribed and can't wait to see your next production :)
ending was heart breaking... that poor man, saving the plant, he must of really cared about them.. more than his own being, thats amazing. what an incredible personality.

I don't have an issue with the color correction.
So there's my two cents.
