This was the best show I have ever seen...PERIOD!!!! It opend with a kick in the chest, pure power and aggression. Seen Rage, Tool, Manson, Ministry, FLA to name a few. Good friends with Martin Steek from 102.1 so I saw tonnes for free.....
Wow...Pinion sounds awesome live. I wish it was longer and louder like this on the Broken CD. I have to find some CD version of this version of Pinion.
I was born in '70 and there are some rock and roll moments that took place before I was born that I'm still upset that I missed, so you're not alone. Good thing about your age is, you can see everything you missed right here on YouTube. The stuff I missed out on is a little harder to track down. :)
Hmm200: I was 14... but I still got to see them in Houston (on Halloween, no less). I had to sneak out of the house and rode with some of my friends from school... lol my Mom had the police looking for me and I was busily getting kicked in the head by people dressed as vampires and dominatrices!!! :D Too bad Trent seems to be finally hanging up his mic... :(
I've seen NIN live six times and this was by far the best opener. For a while, Trent was opening with Terrible Lies. I like the song but it just gets the show off to a lethargic, anti-climactic start. Mr. Self-Destruct on the other hand gets things on the destructive pace necessary for a NIN concert!
Interesting and I agree. Although Terrible Lie on AATCHB is still a tremendous opening, I think maybe this would have fitted better. This song definitely sets the tone.
Reznor evolves as an artist, if he were to go back to the roots (as said below) he would be selling himself short because of the progress made, PHM is classic and one of my favs but I appreciate the later albums too, No one is on his level.
well there are a few artists that do that trents not original in that aspect look at bowie, cooper, and manson for instance they change there albums alot like trent does but he should go back to the sound of NIN during the 90's. artists usually go back to the sound that made them popular with their newfound experiance they have and then they usually make a kick ass album, that makes ppl who say"he sucks now" shit their pants.
I disagree (respectively) Manson was Reznor's protege'. Correct me if I am wrong but his first was "Portrait" it was heavy and raw, then if u want to get technical, Smells/Children and then AntiChrist (Portrait and Antichrist was produced by Reznor) followed by several more lesser know albums then, Eat Me Drink Me. From Portrait to Eat me... there is an obvious evolution of the music, but to question your post; Where did he "go back to the sound that made him popular?" I don't see or hear it man
plus reznor kicked him out of nothing studio to work on the soundtrack for lost highway, but to get to your question about the music, hes like a modern day david bowie his music is wierd and different with every album theme, the most current one was least favorite of his fans.
btw not to sound like a sick fuck or anything but is there a way to find a better quality version of the original gave up music video at all? not the one with manson on guitar, the one , you know thats bloody.
I have looked for it; but have not found it, if u do let me know. I sent you a friend request so we can keep in touch about NIN and put people in their place that don't know wtf they are talking about, like that idiot jimbob guy who has commented on your page.
You'll probably never find a better quality vid, considering that A. it's never been released, and B. It was ripped from an old VHS. Unless Trent decides to actually release that thing, not much is gonna happen when it comes to quality.
actually reznor only produced mansons first album, he was executive producer with Antichrist, which if u look it up on wiki, ep's in the music industry are in charge of the marketing aspects of the album such as promotion and shipping, reznor didn;y really do anything producction wise for antichrist except play piano on the final track and guitar for deformography, the album was made soly by manson twiggy, and sean beavan who was the actual co producer.
Year Zero was actually pretty damn good. With Teeth was alright, but Pretty Hate Machine is nowhere near their best work. Sorry, you fail. We're not in the 80s anymore with Skinny Puppy.
Oh and one more thing I forgot to add to that was that Trent was more crazed out in his performances during the Spiral days. He's still pretty good now but nothing beats the old school Trent.
Fuck Yeah!! Now thats a true NIN show! Trent with the long hair, dress up in all industrial crazy mode, smoke, lights on stage, breaking the instruments. Today's NIN show isn't as crazy, loud, smokey, and industrial as before. Today's NIN is just medium dark lights Trent standing on stage with his muscles and very short hair singing, good. But nothing as good as before. I wish I've got to see them then but hey at least I got to see them last year during the year zero tour so I can't conplain.
This is awesome to see but man...everything about the 2006/2007 version of this song is so much better...faster drums, a step lower (so it's heavier by default), REAL bass and Aaron doing all that feedback noise during the breakdown and outro on his guitar.
lol, my sentiments exactly knifymoloko.....this is prolly one of my fave heavy songs ever...though i do prefer closer or big man with a gun lol, but this song pwns hardcore!!!!!
