why are people getting so angry this is one of 11 films that were made by different directors to represent how the event affected people. This one, I agree is a bit to the point and hard hitting but watch Sean Penn's film on 9/11 its brilliant!
The prayers you hear in the beginning are American voices just played backwards and the thumps are the bodies hitting the ground, my film teacher told me
Called several times to the Sept. 11 "big lie" and denounced last June, the "exploitation" of the event by Westerners. He compared the incident to the "exploitation of the Holocaust" made, he said, to defend Israel.
The Iranian president has said regularly since 2008, the attacks on the World Trade Center were encouraged by the U.S. to justify interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan. He came alive to need international responses by stating in September 2010 the UN General Assembly, that September 11 was a "conspiracy orchestrated by some circles in American power to revive a declining economy, strengthen the achievements of States United in the Middle East and save the Zionist regime. "
"September 11 was a game in order to influence the emotions of humanity, and that there are no longer an excuse to attack the Muslim regions and invade Iraq and Afghanistan, killing a million innocent people," Ahmadinejad said in a speech to a congress of religious leaders in the Muslim world and published in the web site of the Iranian president.
9/11 made history, because about 3,000 lives were taken away that day, but if we really want to know history, the United States committed despicable genocide towards Native Americans ( 10+million Native Americans killed), lynched African-American slaves during the Jim Crow Laws), implemented hate and discrimination laws against Asian-Americans, and last but not least killed and stole lands from our Mexican- American Ranchers. White privilege rules the land of "the FREE".
A hurricane is a tragedy. An earthquake is a tragedy. The September 11 attacks were a premeditated and methodical massacre. I think the word tragedy implies something that is out of our hands.
@danielortizart2 You may want to research your facts before you make libellious statements regarding Iñárritu... None of the directors were paid for their contributions to the series. 'All of the money generated would be redirected into social programs' -Iñárritu
This is the worst short film of all. Iñaritu is very overrated.
@pamjaikel The music of the short was composed by Osvaldo Golijov & Gustavo Santaolalla (either together or each a different part, I don't know), played by the Kronos Quartet (if you live in the UK, they'll play it in Barbican in Jan. 2012), Gustavo Santaolalla and Luanne Warner and is, quite conveniently, called "Darkness".
Thanks for posting this great video. But, hey: what happened to the last important seconds, when the two texts explode simultaneously (like two horizontal WTC) and everything is drowned in light? That piece is essential for the understanding of the film.
:) Saludos.
This one was a disapointment to me. The whole idea of the movie was to look at the tragedy with the eyes of people from different countries and coultures. How did this reflect any coulture or viewpoint? You couldn't know it's Mexico without the name and the infobox.
The horrific thing of this movie is, that because of just hearing the sounds with short pictures flashing, your own remebers come in to your head and you remember the day in that way you felt that day.
It's still one of the biggest tragedy happen to mankind.
Truthfully, it is extremely exaggerated and perpetuated to an extent that many americans have come to believe that all Middle-Easterners are evil terrorists. In other words, it's the biggest sob story ever.
@maxout214226 3000 people is a lot, it's a tragedy of course - but if we are going to talk about biggest tragedies of all time that is not even in the top 1000.
@byronic80 Thats one of the biggest, not THE biggest. There's a lot of tragedies, why this should not be one of those? Because they are rich and powerful? Only the poor and unhappy deserve to be claimed as tragedy?
For those idiots who think those voices at the beginning of the film were part of the news that day, you're wrong.

9/11 was a tragedy.
Anybody who thinks 3000 people dying in one day isnt much to behold is pretty naive...
But down the line of history, things far worse have happened, many times. With more losses of life.
But then to be honest, when you think about it, we shouldn't be living in a world where that happens anyway.
