I realize that many other animals are killed in what some may see as cruel ways...but it's painfully obvious to absolutely anyone who watches the finnings that it is morally wrong. Therefore, they are not interested in baby sharks or sharks have the fin too small.
Just a quick fact: Sharks ATTACK 4-12 people a year with about 1 or 2 deaths, while coconuts falling off of coconut trees KILL around 14 people a year. So in 9 years some species of sharks have had a 90% decrease in population and they're one of the most important animals on Earth considering they keep the oceans in balance. Yet no one is trying to hunt the coconut tree.
I think the planet might be screwed if you just removed one of the most prominent species from the ecosystem. Might run into overpopulation of cows or something....

People fail to realize how important sharks are to our ocean's ecosystem. Sharks are the apex predators of the oceans; they can also help to control the ocean's population of smaller creatures that; if their population increases over the natural carrying capacity: coral, kelp gardens and small crustaceans (shrimp/crabs) can be eaten away to the point where the eco-enviornment of the Earth's oceans collapses and not only the ocean's creatures will be affected, but also land animals and us humans.
Sharks may not be the cutest things in the world, but does that mean we should ignore their plight? I hear so many people shouting "Save teh pandas!!!!1111!!!!" but nobody giving a crap for sharks. Our entire marine ecosystem relies on them. The ocean ecosystem is so well balanced and perfected that even the slightest change can erect a myriad of consequences.

A video can become evidence only when the investigation about it is done, nobody knows if it's set-video, and nobody knows what happens after the film( did they pick the shark back or Are they asked to throw it in water and get payed for it? if not, why there's a filmer on board to film their "cruelty"? ).

@blacktigertheone A lot of undercover videos get made documenting cruelty at farms or rodeos too. It's not hard to film something if you want to. Chef Ramsay did a whole special about the Shark Fin Industry. They dry the fins out on top of buildings and they hid from him when he wanted to speak with someone.

@JDivinorumVideo and other thing: even baby sharks are welcome for shark oil industry, but for shark fin, you need bigger sharks to have the fin big enough that it looks like noodle(that's what shark fin soup looks like). and also, The bigger and The Older the shark is, the better the fin. Big fin worth much much more than smaller ones. And if the fin is too small like smaller than our fist, it won't be a soup. Therefore, they are not interested in baby sharks or sharks have the fin too small.

Just a quick fact: Sharks ATTACK 4-12 people a year with about 1 or 2 deaths, while coconuts falling off of coconut trees KILL around 14 people a year. So in 9 years some species of sharks have had a 90% decrease in population and they're one of the most important animals on Earth considering they keep the oceans in balance. Yet no one is trying to hunt the coconut tree.

@SeminarioMAE It's not racist to be against something that has grown WAY out of control. It's one thing to kill an animal humanely and use it for it's meat, bones etc and use the fins to make soup. It's another to go around pulling these beautiful creatures out of the water, cutting off their fins and throwing them back to drown. Not to mention they use long lines and catch everything from dolphins to sea turtles...not just sharks.

It doesn't make it right, but since there is so little money and thought going into the preservation and ethics of killing animals perhaps we should focus on one of the more important animals of the environment. killing the top predator off in a ecosystem = NOT a good idea. A lot of animals use strategies, and tactics to elude other animals or to catch prey. People fail to realize how important sharks are to our ocean's ecosystem. Sharks are the apex predators of the oceans; they can also help to control the ocean's population of smaller creatures that; if their population increases over the natural carrying capacity: coral, kelp gardens and small crustaceans (shrimp/crabs) can be eaten away to the point where the eco-enviornment of the Earth's oceans collapses and not only the ocean's creatures will be affected, but also land animals and us humans.

Sharks may not be the cutest things in the world, but does that mean we should ignore their plight? I hear so many people shouting "Save teh pandas!!!!1111!!!!" but nobody giving a crap for sharks. Our entire marine ecosystem relies on them. The ocean ecosystem is so well balanced and perfected that even the slightest change can erect a myriad of consequences.
Shark fin soup isn't even good. Some even believe is causes cancer, and you can take that to the bank.

Cows, chickens, pigs are common because they are bred for meat and poultry, they wouldn';t be in the fields otherwise, and treated humanely.
Sharks, like Dolphins and Whales, are wild animals, and are being killed in the most horrific way possible, with the maximum amount of pain and suffering.

Don't get me wrong, I think hunting any animal is no big deal (Even sharks) so long as it is done within the ability of the animals to survive and reproduce. The mass slaughter that is going on here, is going on to quickly for the sharks to really come back from. At the rate its going they'll be gone before long-- even the gentle whale sharks, which, technically, aren't even sharks and are my favorite next to the tiger sharks..

You know there was a fishing society who tried to whipe out the population of tiger sharks around their coast. In doing so, they nearly killed themselves. See, the tiger shark kept the fish eating reef shark in control. Without him, there was no one to stop the population from exploding, thus the fish were sadly eaten to quickly for them to reproduce. NOW, imagine that on a much much larger scale. This is what your doing by killing the sharks. Your facking up the entire ocean system.

Sharks have the ability to learn behaviors and remember experiences, so they are not stupid. And UGLY?!? Have you even SEEN a shark before?!? The way they move, the color of their eyes, the way they leap out of the water, everything about them is the epitome of grace, power, and beauty.
