  • One woman's work to keep Ladino alive becomes a blessing to many!

  • This video is about the Atlantic slave trade that started 500 years ago.Not about one day the Ladinos said hey let's move and go relax. Ladino people went through a genocide and exist in the Americas today most would not know it though. The slave trade knocked them out and gave them amnesia.Thank god for the ladinos who survived assimilation or not to survive is to keep the tradition alive.

  • be fair to the ancient ladinos and say why they left spain it was because the Alhambra decree enslaved those ancient blacks along with the Moors the black blood is so strong 500 years later you can still see it in Yasmine face especially her mother she looks like my great aunt that is not a pale ashkenazi she is totally Sephardic

  • Hermosa :)

  • I like this song from japan. it was really beautifull.

  • @ysuzuki1773 you sound like a french guy

  • tqm

  • Fabulous. Yamsin singing with her mother is very moving.

  • she reunites with his roots-blood, so proud and i too.

  • can somebody tell me the name of the song in 3:59 ?!?!?

  • she's one of the greatest voice of this century but not only this what makes her so precious for many including me,but she has a posture, good manners and a kind heart that you can feel even via a video which only very few people can have in the world.

  • @cypriot1965 You comment was retarded first of all you said from Ladino there was never such a place secondly 1492 was the year ladinos was sold into the americas from the signing of the alhambra decree

it is no secret as long as you can read again the alhambra decree of 1492 wich sent the moorish and ladinos into the slave system in the Americas the Alhambra decree of 1492 was the start of the Transatlantic slave trade

  • Feliz navidad Yasmin

  • @BamaBoy205SR Ahhhh, BamaBoy, excuse me, but this is about the beautiful songs that were sung here in Ladino. Why do you feel you have to bring you Alabama fighting spirit into this nice quiet and beautiful song??

I guess some people just can't resist a fight, no matter where or with whom. Why not go to another channel where the discussion of slavery is already in progress and let us listen and read about Ladino and Ladino music???

  • @Trevoc2 i take it you were not affected by the Alhambra decree of 1492 that kicked off the slave trade

  • @BamaBoy205SR I wont turn this into a discussion that you want it to go to...this is about music and you want it turn into slave trade. Please, take your aches and pains somewhere where you are wanted instead of spoiling for the rest of us a moment of quiet Ladino music.

No more replies to your posts.... Shalom, Adio

  • @Trevoc2 so is that a yes or no

  • @Trevoc2 as i thought this video has nothing to do with you and the 500 years of hell Blacks had to go thru after the alhambra decree wich sparked the slavetrade of Moors and ladinos

  • @BamaBoy205SR

  • @BamaBoy205SR

Where the heck did that come from, this is the language of the Sephardi Jewish of which I descend. I think black people would resent this comment because they originated in Africa and have had enough of your kind.. Awe but you wouldn't know about that would you white boy?

  • @Strikesis white are you calling me white you dam cracker stop lying and look at what the lady is saying you are white that is the only reason the video 500 years later offend you it is 518 years we have been enslaved in the Americas jack ass the Alhambra decree of 1492 signed us Away first to go was the moors and ladinos of spain and Africa secondly was the ancient nation of ghana then the Mamelukes were beat in 1502 then the congo ect. This video has nothing to do with you

  • I love this video. The beautiful voices and the relationship between Yasmin and her mother, their conversation. Thank you for sharing..

  • I speak a little Spanish and this is fully understandable to me=p a nice dialect by all means

  • funny how so many people think they are experts because they read half of an erroneous wikipedia entry lol

  • I'm turkish/muslim, I can understand most of written ladino (if it's written in latin letters) And I dont even speak spanish! If you speak french and turkish, you understand like 90% of the written form.....

Whats the name of the last song?

  • i love you yasmin

  • Brings a tear to my eye! My Family was kicked out in 1492 and we moved to Holland! Very Beautiful, Kol Ha kavod!

  • where can i find the rest???

    same SPANISH!!!!!

  • @TheMankindopinion no it's not...it's "adio kerida, no kiero la vida me la amargastes tu" similar, but the spelling and a few words are different...she is speaking in modern spanish in other parts of the interview...you should watch some other videos of latino in youtube...it has had significant influences from portuguese and french...it's still closer to castilian spanish, but it has its differences.

שלום

  • Anyone know where I can get this film?

  • How absolutely beautiful. I found out 15 years ago that my family was/is Jewish. Hearing Ladino-the music, tha language, it's just like going home.

  • Does anyone know where this movie/documentary is available??

  • beautiful song!

  • When Spanish king ordered all jews of spain either be christian or die, Turkish ottoman empire saved them and settled ~200.000 jews to Thessaloniki, izmir(Smyrna) and Istanbul.

They lived in peace along with Muslims and Christians till 1840 for 400 years but when Greece got separated from Ottoman empire, more than half of them forced to go away from Thessaloniki because they weren't Christians and the remaining Jews of Thessaloniki unfortunately massacred by hitler at WW-II.

  • Mother and daughter singing ... the voices of angels. Thank you.

  • can somebody tell me the titel of the song at 3:58 ???

  • beautiful, beyond words, this touches my soul. thank you.

  • that's a bit of a stretch, to say they always felt safe...there were attacks on the Jews in Mamluk Egypt as well as during other points in history..blaming the Zionists for everything is oversimplifying to say the least. Muslims should take responsibilty for their actions in the modern world, without always blaming Zionists and the west for all of their problems

  • she is talking about when the jews left spain. the jews left spain when the arab / muslim rule ended there. the fact that the jews have always felt safe living with and around muslim arabs

(until the Zionists appeared in the picture) is now very much ignored today.

  • +1 where can I get it?

  • whats the name of that film...and where can I get it?Im so curious!

  • What a BEAUTIFUL FAMILY. Everyone should be this blessed.

  • I love this video i have sephardi anecestory.I speak hebrew and modern day spanish but i can understand ladino the language of my ancestors.

  • Ladino and haketia are sephardic jewish languages...haketia is extiguished already it was the language spoken by moroccan jews very similar to ladino and heavily influenced by moroccan arabic...

  • Does anyone someone Know the Name of the song begins to play at 4 min ????

Could someone please tell me the name of the song ????

    Its soooooooo beautiful !!!!!!!

  • @ozlemler I search for the name too..so did you find it somewhere?

    greets

  • I'm not jewish but I've heard Iadino and yiddish spoken and I think Ladino is so beautiful. I hope it doesn't become an extinct language.

  • @EnchantingNature extinct language??? i dont think so cause is same as spanish except the writing changes a little but sounds exactly the same. i am mexican and i do understand every single word

  • @TheMankindopinion Ladino also has hebrew words in it..she is speaking in Spanish to the audience, not Ladino...look at other videos on youtube in Ladino, it is still very similar to modern day Spanish, but there are differences that go beyond spelling.

  • @TheMankindopinion and it is a dying language among Sephardic jews, very few speak it anymore...

  • @thekingofmoney2000 i worked for a jewish family who speak hebrew and they always play ocho kandelikas para ti in hanukah and they never understand a word of the song!!! my exboss was jealous of me cause i do!! i know the writing is different than spanish but is so much easier for an spanish speaker than a hebrew speaker to understand it.

  • @TheMankindopinion its a totally different language, it 's a mish mash of 15th century Spanish with western euro languages and a bit of old Hebrew. so really the songs are pretty understandable but the spoken language is really nothing like modern day Spanish. I know, ive heard it.

  • @TheMankindopinion its a totally different language, it 's a mish mash of 15th century Spanish with western euro languages and a bit of old Hebrew. the songs are pretty understandable but the spoken language is really nothing like modern day Spanish. I know, ive heard it.

  • @dewytripp i can translate every single of her song's with my spanish!!!! if you speak spanish you may be able to do it too. if you only speak hebrew you may not!!!!

modern spanish is totally different then the xlv century , it has a lot of arab words on it. there are 2 kinds of spanish catalan and castellano. jewish people came to america together with the spanyards in 1492 and they kept speaking spanish maybe sephardic was lost in europe but not in america!!!!

  • @TheMankindopinion Catalan is not Spanish! Catalan is older than spanish and is a language in its own right...it's closer to French then to Spanish!

  • @thekingofmoney2000 Spanish (castilian) is the oldest romance language, see "cartularios de valpuesta 1804" we only have testimonies of french since 1814. In fact all romance languages have the same origin and the same seniority. Catalonian is very closed to occitan not to french

  • @iSPaLiTo occitan is still closer to french than spanish...and I'm not putting spanish down, I'm just saying that Ladino is different than modern spanish in both pronunciation and vocabulary.

  • @thekingofmoney2000 occitan is still closer to catalonian than french or spanish. And ladino is the spanish of XV century is very closed to actual more than argentinian or mexican dialect. You can not use the same measure to english language than a romance language

i was confused in the last post, French = 814 ac. Spanish = 804 ac. "cartularios de Valpuesta" that old spanish is very diferent than actual. Perhaps the invention of printing froze language

  • @EnchantingNature Do not be afraid It will not happen. Ladino is Spanish a little bit old but spanish, so, they will last forever. If you want to watch a ladino movie: "Everytime We Say Goodbye" with Tom Hanks, you can get it at Amazon.com

  • whats the name of the song at the 4. min?

  • May God bless these people who preserve a beautiful cultural flower in their hearts,

as with 'Bukharian' jews (Sherali Jurayev),

the Chaabi Arabic singers.... It's blooming again
