  • I had Christmastime Is Here Again some time in the early 90s after buying it in Greenwich Village, then it came out in 1995, got tons of bootlegs in the Vilage in the early 90s then all these bands released them on their box sets in the late 90s.

  • Plenty of Jam Jars for Youuuu!!!

  • @Vincek88 Get one of those for your trousers... get one of those for your headddddddd

  • Madmen......this is inspirational!! I love it.

  • I give this one the nod simply bcuz tiny tim didnt ruin it.

  • "The boys arrive at BBC House." Three doors slam. That's another "Paul is dead" clue.

  • @romanshrine Isn't that just them knocking on the door? But still - three knocks!

  • This Xmas classic from the fab four came out the same year their classic album SGT. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was the top record of the year.

  • i looked at that picture of the cover and the band aid cover of their 1984 relase sprang to mind lol

  • Sorry to disappoint everyone, but I doubt this influenced Monty Python. They were both inspired by the Goon Show, but the Pythons were already professional comedy writers by this point

  • @monkeysoulpoet I wonder who knew who, when. I heard Neil Inness talking about recording with the Bonzo Dog Band in the same studio as the Beatles, and he was in the show 'Do Not Adjust Your Set' with Eric, Michael, and Terry, later of the Pythons. The Bonzos appeared on 'Magical Mystery Tour'. Paul produced their "I'm The Urban Spaceman", and much later George guested (hilariously) on Eric and Neil's "Rutland Weekend Television" Christmas show...

  • @Vincek88 Magical Mystery Tour was made in 1967, and Do Not Adjust Your Set started earlier that year, so it's hard or impossible to say. All the Pythons minus Gilliam (who first did his animations for Do Not Adjust...) had written for the Frost Report in 1966. Cleese was the only one who had acted on the show, but Palin also had onscreen experience by then.

I don't mean to diss the Beatles, but it's really a matter of all of them being influenced by the Goons and especially Spike Milligan.

  • @monkeysoulpoet Oh, absolutely! See also: The Running, Jumping, and Standing Still Film, with Richard Lester, Milligan, Peter Sellers, and Bruce Lacey and Leo McKern (both in "Help!")

  • @Vincek88 Is Running, Jumping... on Youtube?

Elvis was also a huge Peter Sellers fan, and he bonded with Lennon over that. Also, Holy Grail was one of his favorite movies.

  • @monkeysoulpoet It is indeed - I can't seem to post a link here, but it's an easy find.

  • haha damn acid

  • ringo took his name from a previous band where they all adopted western names !

Although Ringo is loosely apple but is actually this ao-ringo 青林檎 meaning green apple!

  • Another reason to put on the list of why the Beatles were the greatest band ever! I'm guessing that Bin Laden and Jeff Dahmer were the 2 a-holes who gave this a 'thumbs down". No one is Hell likes anything to do with Christmas, right?

  • what is a fluffy rehearsal room?

  • @OlaNaTungee6 Bring your own and find out.

  • Close on the Monty Pythons comment. George Martin had worked on the "Goon Show" which inspired most British Comedy.

  • Great teamwork, they sound as they were just jamming and enjoying it. It´s a pity that they did not make more "Monty Pythons" :-/ the last two christmas records are already made separately :-(

  • " In The Fluffy Rehearsal Room!"

"Get Wonderlust for you trousers! Get Wonderlust for you haaaaaaiiiiiir!"

"Hello operator?! I've been cut off! Operator! It's an *cough* emerg*cough*"

  • their christmas records are very disturbing. there seems to be a real contempt for the audience.

  • @MRBORGHEAD I am not getting that vibe at all. These are just fun that's all mate....

  • @MRBORGHEAD what

  • John's voice is so funny at 1.30.

  • What would Beatles acid Christmas records sound like had reverberation never been invented?

  • Led Zep and George Harrison were huge financial backers of Monty Python

  • @madtnt The movies, but they were on TV on their own merits.

Don't get me wrong, this is funny stuff, but I don't think the Beatles influenced Monty Python.

  • @madtnt Led Zeppelin?! I think my heart just exploded with love.

  • this is my favorite of all the beatles messages! i love the trippyness of it! i think

the herbs they were smoking then influenced them while making this one! i love it!

    merry christmas to everyone!

  • I had all of these once, way back. Now I'm grooving on the Mono Box! Heh-hey!!!

  • It's just not Christmas until I listen to this.

  • the beatles present: "an acid christmas"

not at all as good as th 63-64 christmas records

  • So sad that they would go their own ways soon after this. :-(

  • I think you meant "Victor Spinetti" not "Victor Spine"

    Otherwise great job

  • Reminds me of youtube poop

  • Sitting with me in the studio tonight is cross section of british youth!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH <XoD

...And also.. wait for it... you have been elected as presidential candidate for Paddington!! Hahahaha wtf??? X..oD

  • @marniedrew independent, not presidential!

  • I love that it's this weird skit, and then, suddenly "CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE AGAIN!" It's so random I love it...

  • funny to think that they were recording Sgt Pepper at the same time as this

  • Woah, Revolution 9 kinda comes to mind.

I miss the classic just "Hi this is ___ wishing you a merry christmas" stuff, like in 1963.

  • THIS MY FAVORYTE

  • Fantastic and much easy laughs to be had all those gears ago oh my best beloved (it says here) William was only six but he really packed a sardonic punch. We all drank it and agreed with that as well we might, for we were all for one and one for all, even though the knee highs had us in footlocks till we scuffed x

  • ( 4:16 ) made me laugh like crazy!

" 'ello im speaking from a cold-- *coughing*"

"Hello?! hello, operator? hello? operator? I'VE BEEN CUT OFF! i've--yah, i've yah-- 'ello IT'S AN EMERGENCY!"

    *epic music*

And love that 'Christmas Time Is Here Again" song. this is so random, like others...

  • They have the cutest laughs!

  • this record tripped me out when i was 5

    years old!

  • this is quite an improvement over the '66 Xmas shite.

  • Now we know where Monty Python got its influence....lol!

  • @bender1958 Actually, they were both inspired by the Goons, who worked with George Martin. Beyond The Fringe, starring Dudley Moore and Peter Cook among others, was also an influence.

  • @bender1958 :-) Actually, both The Beatles and Monty Python were heavily influenced by the Goon Show!

  • @RoadienicknamedRor True...and of course the Goon Show records were produced by George Martin

  • Possibly Brian Epstein's death took the 'Christmas' spirit out of the guys in 1968... and that's also when things started fragmenting.

  • She was gradually injured - love it

  • Easy to see where Monty Python got their influence..."Get one of us for your trousers"...Lol!

  • LOL!

I haven't heard this in years.

    Thanks for posting it!

  • One thing's always puzzled me - the main "track" - Cjrristmas Time Is Here Again! - sounds like a backing vocal. I still wonder if it was orginally intended as part of a "real" recording...

No matter....GREAT stuff, always was, always will be...

  • Wow! The WHOLE 1967 Fan Club record as originally released. First time I've ever heard the full version. And it was on the FREE AS A BIRD single, that the song "Xmastime is Here again" was released mostly by itself in a true stereo mix, minus the skit material except for John's scotsman bit over "Auld Lang Syne".

Love it, love it, love it! I just hope that a legit compilation of all the fan club xmas discs is released, and as officially sanctioned by the Beatles themselves.

  • I just listened to it on a mix tape my friend made me of all of them and I completely lost it. Wow. just... wow.

  • Comment removed

  • isn't that in an anthology??

  • I think those boys were hittin the crippler just a bit

  • "O-U-T spells out"

  • The piece that starts at 5:44, this always made me laugh. I placed this on a Xmas tape I made years ago. I never was able to figure out what he was talking about but it always made me chuckle, in a disturbing way lol

  • After the Begining, I think John went into speaking German for the rest. That's my opinion. But it also my favorite part too!!

  • "Plenty of jam jars" by the ravellers! Very Python/Goons esk.

  • I'm looking for the one were john is talking about his Xmas morning bowl of cronflakes blessed by a krishna mantra.

Incidentally did you know Ringo is Japanese for Apple?

  • Look at my video of the 69 Christmas Record and it's @ aprox .55 seconds into the video.

  • Check out 1:56...it's like a tv commercial while the acid hits...hard

  • @lordsofkoble I think the one you're talking about is "Good Morning Good Morning", recorded around the same time...

  • @lordsofkoble i think thats the 64 christmas

  • @lordsofkoble That, by the way, is NOT why it's called "Apple Corps". John Lennon said it was purely coincidence.

  • Is that really Tiny Tim?

  • Tiny Tim appeared on the 1968 Christmas record

  • Were there B-sides to these? I'm looking for the one with John talking about how he wants an Xmas morning bowl of cornflakes blessed by a Krishna mantra.

  • Tiny Tim Rules. Happy Crimble, every where it's christmas and it's bound to bring good cheer everywhere it's Christmas at the end of every year!!

  • :)

    this is great.
