This world is filled with suffering for various reasons and causes. Sprinkled in are moments of great joy and large segments of contentment. You sound like a pretty nice guy and your honesty is admirable.Try not to be too hard on yourself. Also you would be amazed how many good women out there who are lonely for all sorts of reasons that would love to have a guy like you to make a life with. Best wishes buddy & God Bless!
Whats up Carl...Thanks for your video. Have you heard of Farrow Wraps? I've been fitting patients from the VA Hospital for over a decade and Farrow Wraps are great for lymphedema treatments. I have vidoes posted on my website. Thanks man and god bless...by the way I've seen and helped patients much worse than yourself...keep your head up man...thanks again for your video
Hi Carl, I was diagnosed with lymphedema in late May. It's just in my left leg and it wasn't something I was taking very seriously until I came across this video. Thank you for your honesty and for letting us glimpse what life is like. It helped me to give this disease it's due and keep up with all my doctors and therapists orders. I hope you are doing well and hanging in the there.
Hey Carl, your legs are not gross. Don't be so hard on yourself. My leg was 111cm and it's finally going down with treatment, however now I do have loose skin and you know what? I'm proud of my loose skin, it means I"m making progress and if other people don't like well tuff crap. It seems its been along time since you've been on here but I just wanted you to know that it'll be ok. You can get it down. You can find someone to look past your legs.
I am so sorry Carl. I know you don't want sympathy, but I honestly have a lot of it for you. Legs are just legs, you don't have to stop living because of this. Even if it comes down to losing your legs, it isn't worth killing yourself over. I know what it's like to be stigmatized, please don't give up. I know you probably have been through a lot of changes since this video, but it really moved me and I couldn't help but write.
So how did the job interview go? Curious on an update since this video was made almost 3 years ago. Have you ever thought there might be a woman out there that is completely understandable regarding your lymphedema?
I am 28 and have hereditary lymphedema as does my younger sister and mother.
If you ever want to chat about Lymphedema or anything, let me know.
Carl , I have been thru some tough times too with LE, thank God my disability came thru and I was able to get medical attention when I did , I could have lost my legs , I had open wounds on my legs. Now after about 5 months of treatment i have one small wound left on my right leg and it should be healed in about 5 or 6 more weeks. I know the struggle I am a big guy 6 feet 5 , 400 plus lbs trying to lose weight and back in my younger days i was a fantastic athlete. i am 48 now.
Gosh Carl, to make these videos and not talk about the pain. You show great control. I too lifted weights and was quite physical in my youth. I always had jobs that required me to stand. All bad things for the veins. Bad veins seem to run in the Family. When I rested I would not put my feet up. For the past couple years I mostly sleep in a chair. I know now this is all bad news for my sirculatory system. Now I learn we have a Lymph system too, not just glands. Stay strong, we can make it.
I hear where your coming from Carl. My husband of 34 years left me because he did not believe me when I said something was wrong. He actually told me he was leaving because of my appearance and because I was lazy. Now that I have a diagnosis his sees he was wrong, but it is too late to save the marriage. I am lucky to have friends that love me, but it is still a very lonely disease. I hope you are still hanging in there and have found a treatment that works for you.
I would just like to throw a little hope out to anyone living with this I have cronic odema in both leggs and the genital odema spoken of here I spent the last two years having diffrent treatments from massage to bandaging all the bandaging did was push the odema further up hence the genital odema .now last weak I took delivery of a profiling bed this means I can keep my legs raisd above my head all night RESULT my odema is retreating genital odema gone leggs reduceing i feel it a miracl.
I have been living with limphedema for allmost 7 years for the past 4 months that has developed to genital edema that renders evrything completly useless from the waist down I am only 38 and as far as I see it my life has ended any hopes dreams I might have had have gone I just take everyday as it comes I can't go out I live alone and lets face it that will never change now it completly dominates my hole life I live in england and there is just no treatment available . its a big bowl of crap.
check out the hcg protocal may be you want need that lap band. i know five people who did very well and are not sick any more. my brother-in-law have lymphedema in both legs and i have a cousin that have it in his face out of all the cases the face is the place you cant hide its so bad untill it efects his sight and breathing so you are not alone keep the faith don't give up. keep the vids up because you can help others to understand and fight for better care.
hello carl, my name is zelda75231 and i was told that i had lyphedema yesterday. i am so scared that this will never go away,i am praying about it and everything. I would love to be your friend. please email me with your number and lets talk,ok? :-)
I wasn't done commenting. I also want to say that there are people in the world who can accept lymphedema. I love my girlfriend and I am going to stick with her and get her the help she needs because I can't stand that she's in pain. If the women you meet don't have compassion then so what. They don't speak for all women. I just noticed that these videos are two years old. Are you feeling better? Sorry for posting twice it just pisses me off that you weren't shown more understanding.
Carl, those people who don't have compassion for you are just ignorant. My girlfriend suffers from this and we are doing everything we can to find a cure for her. We've been trying Chinese medicine and so far she says she feels better, at least it doesn't get as bad as it sometimes was. Don't lose hope man, lymphedema is not something to be ashamed of. I don't know if Chinese medicine is something you'd be into but I think my gf's symptoms are getting better.
Very insightful and brave video. I hadn't heard of lymphedema until today when I stumbled across it while googling. I have so much respect for you and I really hope your condition will improve. You sound like a cool person.

CARL.....THANKS FOR POSTING THIS! After getting over the Cancer five years back, the feet and legs started to swell three years ago. It was not diagnosed until two years later. Now I have to do regular treatments and wear compression garments on both legs. The upper part of my body is very bloated and makes clothing difficult to find. Your posting has inspired me to keep going through all these problems. Good luck to everyone who suffers this and know you do not suffer alone. Cheers Carl!
Thank you, this is the first time ive found someone explaiming what ive been goin through. My swelling is very bad, both legs, right to just above knee, left to crotch, massive swelling oin left side, the swelling has made it very hard to walk, and like you said, having to spend hours with legs raised, not fun. ....heres hoping someday a cure can be found, something more effective then the boots, something permenente

Thank you Carl for telling it like it is. My Mom died this past Feb. from complications from lymphedemia. I take hope watching your video, that maybe someone, somewhere will come to understand. God Bless you.
I hope your diet is going well. I know how hard it is. I too need to get my weight back down. I too hope that it helps my Edema/Lymphodema. I will think of you you when I eat all my fruits and veggies!!

Man you're awesome you seem like a really nice funny guy inside. I have primary lymphedema (I was born with it) and it's relatively mild but I love seeing people's videos and connecting with people. You just gotta remember that there is always hope and you WILL find a woman who loves you because trust me NOT ALL WOMEN CARE ABOUT PHYSICAL APPEARANCE my cousin's lower body (Feet - Knees) is all burnt and he met a beautiful woman who loves and cares about him and they started a family. I left a comment on pt 1, but I forgot the most important part, I do understand that it's not easy to lose, heck it's pure hell trying to lose 1 lb let alone 20, 50, 100lbs, or more! We aren't lazy; we have a health condition that others do not and will not understand until they are faced with this issue themselves. So my hat is off to you for being brave and making this for youtube! Take care and I wish the best for you!
How did the job interview go? I'm so sorry you have to go through this carl. at times it seems the worst shit happens to the best people. Like you, I can't work. I'm on social services. and getting $140 every two weeks isn't getting me far. especially with a cat to take care of. I'll probably upload a video about my lymphedema later. Take care.
Hey Man, Nice videos. I just got out of the hospital for my 7th case of cellulitis, I came down with this in 2005, like you I was a big leg workout guy, 1 ton hack squat, iso shoes, 500 lb calf raises. Nowadays I have one pair of shoes that fit, Lymphedema really sucks. Doctors are clueless really. Have you heard of the Hallelujah diet? Look into it, I'm starting it tomorrow. Heard some good testimonials. I wonder how many weighlifters get this? Keep your head up, you've got a friend in me.
I've had lymphedema since I was 17 (for 12 years now). Please keep your head up. It's vey difficult. I think I cry out of frustration 2-3/week but it keeps me going, if that makes any sense. I wear compression stockings, went through treatment... and as you know, noncurable. But it is maintainable and it does go down, but not fully away. Mine is hereditary - primary lymphedema.
I know how you feel Carl- I have the same thing and it isn't nice!...It sucks so bad- Some days are worse then others and I agree at times it gets so hard- The last infection I had was a bad one- I was in the hospital for almost a month and it completely disfigured my leg...
<3 Hope all is well with you - last I heard you were in the hospital again ; ( Come find me when you wanna catch up <3

I wear compression stockings, went through treatment... and as you know, noncurable. But it is maintainable and it does go down, but not fully away. Mine is hereditary - primary lymphedema.
Know you are not alone!

I know how you feel Carl- I have the same thing and it isn't nice!...It sucks so bad- Some days are worse then others and I agree at times it gets so hard- The last infection I had was a bad one- I was in the hospital for almost a month and it completely disfigured my leg...
I hope the best for you - And hang in there-
All my best
