buffet crampon-each piece has tempo markings and dynamic markings, but it is up to the performer to decide how to interpret the music. these markings are merely suggestions

What's the matter with all the tempo changes? That's not how this piece is supposed to be played! And why do you play the more difficukt sections slower? Then you should have played it just as slow from the beginning as well!
Woh I'm really big surprised that noone has complained about how MUCH he moves. It's like he's stiring in a coocking-pot. It did affect my musical experience.
cool, i played this my freshman year of high school. :D this is an amazing song, and it was my audtion piece to Interlochen. it's just too bad the quality of the vid isn't good. but he sounds pretty good.:D just try not to strain during the cadenza. :P
i dont like duy's version. its not as clean as this performance. he played it too fast. seemed like the tempo got to him in some spots. he's very good though.
i agree with you about the video quality. it doesn't do your brother's performance justice. he sounds like a great clarinet player. i'm trying to learn this piece myself, and boy is it hard.
i think this is one of the most expressive Messager's I've heard on YouTube and I think I've heard them all so far. Even more expressive than Julian. Saying that, I don't think this is the best in technique, breath support, and articulation, but it is all quite good. What does your brother play on?
I would have to agree with you wholeheartedly..especially with it being a better performance than Julian...that is not taking away from him but it is different style and musicianship. Even with the piano playing the wrong chords he still plays with focus and a beautiful tone! What school does he attend?

That's not bad actually. I'd say that's acceptable if you compare it to the majority of the players in this world.
Maybe that's why no one really commented on that?
HIkeda126 4 years ago 2
I dunno, it's really not the movement that's bad, as how he moves all jerky-like.
He either doesn't articulate much or the recording is bad, but he missed lots of the articulations.
His tone is nice, but it is inconsistent... this piece is way overplayed anyways.
He takes parts of it too slow and other parts he doesn't relax enough.

yes, smack the pianist..but this is good playing I must say! Anyone out there learning it as well, that cadenza is oh so frustrating.

I think the first note must be more brilliant!! and the accompagnment with the arpeges must be more apassionato to a great ff!!!
There's technically no problem and your brother have a very good sound!

Jaystar11691 4 years ago
As a high school student, yes. Even I can't play that piece that well :P
I think DuyTran16's post is really good on YouTube, but we all have different tastes in opinion.

Well, if you're a critic of professional musicians, you should know better than to type "liek" you do.
