Can I ask why you why you hook the hand under your own leg and not just do the bow and arrow choke, is it using the additional leverage to pull down on the gi by any chance?

@ralphylad It does give a little extra leverage, but ultimately it is a set-up to transition into the other techniques.

It's just a little different and sometimes that's all you need to throw someone off and get the submission.
