why would this dutch firetruck have an orange light on the rear left, and what is it for? please respond in english.

The orange light is a warning-light. It takes the attention of other road-users, but it does not cause that much 'panic' as the blue lights do.

So it's just to say to others: pay attention, we are working here/we are on a 'strange place' on the road...road workers also have an orange light.
