Don't hold Tillman to the standards of today. He was the son of big time plantation owner and had a paternal outlook towards blacks. It wasn't right but it was all he knew and was taught. He was a BRILLANT politician though, no one can deny that. Don't hold somebody from over 100 years ago to the standards we have today.
Good point but all the more reasons to bring the standards in line with today then.

Come to the times South Carolina. Redo your constitution. Benjamin Tillman was a dishonarable human being and an evil south carolinian.
